The late Maya Angelou had this to say, "... people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Whether she was talking about life in general or the responsibility of being a good role model, and whether in the role as a relative, family friends, foster carers or even a parent, those in this position have the potential to make others feel valued and strive to live up to their potential. Most individuals in a role model position may find themselves questioning their actions or words and wondering if they are doing the right things or enough to set the best example possible. Fortunately the qualities that make a good role model include being able to admit flaws and mistakes. This does not mean that the role model will dwell on these, rather they would be able to overcome them and accept them as part of what makes them who they are. Perhaps one is bad at sports yet they still join a company sponsored sport team that benefits a cause or charity. Overcoming obstacles or difficulties with dignity and poise or with the ability to laugh it off sets the tone that it is okay to fail, it is what is done after that makes the difference. Being able to be open minded and forgiving even when someone has wronged them or made them feel inadequate (even when that person is unable to admit the mistake themselves) sets a much better example than holding grudges or planning revenge. Being tolerant and accepting of those that are different than oneself is a great way to teach compassion and empathy whether through social, economic or even religious
In I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, Angelou uses various stylistic devices and rhetorical strategies such as similes and metaphors. Angelou’s use of similes are used in order to describe her own character. In this, Angelou remarks “For nearly a year, I sopped around the house, the Store, the school and the church, like an old biscuit, dirty and inedible” showing that Angelou's inner feelings of not being good enough to be picked or loved. Pippin has a hard time looking to him as a role model considering he never listens to Pippin, in Pippin’s eyes he is a tyrannical ruler and Pippin doesn’t agree with most of the things the he is doing as King, like slaying the people for protesting. This is an extremely prevalent problem in America today. Many young people feel they don’t have a voice in any problems that are going on in the country and they feel that can’t look up to anybody to help and guide them. There is also Fastrada, Pippin’s step-mother, who is also a horrible role model. She lies and steals from the King and is completely full of herself. And then there is Berthe, Pippin’s grandmother, who some may argue is a good role model. A role model is an irreplaceable person who often has a following of people who attempt to emulate their actions and reactions. They often are in places of authority or, rather, noble in the eyes of their attendants. Role models yield a lot of value in many societies proven through literature in “The Color of Water” by James McBride, observations of mentors both in history and the present, and my personal experience with leaders who I appreciate.
When I first read this poem, I was overwhelmed with conflicting emotions. Maya Angelou depicts herself as a fighter that will never give up, no matter the circumstances. She has obviously faced some difficult situations in her life that should have stopped her but she continues to triumph in the face of adversity. In this way, I am inspired to continue pursuing my goals. I also felt discouraged and disgusted, mostly because of the types of obstacles that are described in this poem. It is symbolizes the obstacles that many African Americans faced in the past as a result of the abolition of slavery, racism and inequality. Role model. A role model is someone you should look up to. Someone whose behavior and success you should imitate. In the story “Marble Champ” by Gary Soto, the protagonist is a 12-year old girl named Lupe. Lupe is smart but horrible at athletics. Lupe is a role model because she is a hard worker, determined, and intelligent. More people should try to be like Lupe. With role models around, the world becomes a better place.
The definition of a role model is a person whose behaviour, example or success can be emulated by others, especially young people. Their values, actions and behaviours are upheld as an ideal and to be desired. Being a role model may not be taken in its entirety. It can be broken down allowing a person to be a role model in one area and not another. Being a manager is not a guarantee to be a role model. Good leaders will model behaviours that encourage employees to endorse organisational goals and objectives. By modelling the behaviours you find desirable and that will help reach company gaols others will also begin to model said behaviours.

Regardless of the fact that Maya Angelou´s life was full of troubles and pain, she still arose from all and became one of the strongest writers and African American Activists. ¨ Maya Angelou was born in St. Louis Missouri on April 4th , 1928 . When her parents separated , her and her brother went off to live with their grandma in Stamps, Arkansas . Her grandmother was one of the very few African American who had own her own general store. Although her grandmother was a big part of her life especially when it came to self- confidence , unfortunately Maya had went to visit in St. Louis and happened to be raped by her mother's boyfriend at the age of eight. This made Maya Angelou feel completely worthless. When her uncles founded out that this happened, they went and beaten him to death . Although the man could never touch her again , Maya Angelou felt that it was her fault of his death due to telling his name . This made Angelou not speak for around 5 years. ¨
Role models have an astounding effect on the lives of young people in our society. A role model has the ability to shape the views, ideals, and actions of a young person. Role models help youth to discover how they wish to become in the future. The influence that role models have over young people is tremendous. It is important for role models to be positive and responsible in instilling good morals and values because future generations are directly dependent on the role models of today. By examining the influence of role models, role models in the community, and role models in the media, we will be able to determine the true effect that role models have on the lives of youth.

A role model is someone who has a significant impact in your life. When people are asked who’s their role model, of the answers would say a celebrity or an athlete, but for me the answer is my mother. There are so many great qualities about her that motivates me to be a better person. For the past seventeen years of my life, she has been there for me in every way I can possibly think of. She’s my inspiration and motivation I look for when I need it. In the future, I want to be able to be there for her just like all those times she was there for me. She has so many great characteristics I’ve personally witnessed that has shaped me into the best version of myself.
