During former U.S president, Barack Obamas presidency, he administrated the Affordable Care Act. Under the Affordable Care Act, women could receive free birth control. Employers were required to cover all forms of birth control. On October 6th, Donald Trump issued a ruling that would allow employers and corporations to drop the coverage of birth control if they had religious or moral reasons to do so. This ruling has sparked a variety of responses. Many liberals are calling it an attack on women while religious and conservative groups are happy that they don't have to go against their religious beliefs anymore. The media and news sources were quick to report on this event. However, some news sources have spun the story in certain ways in order to fit their agenda. The New York Times and Fox News both twist this event to appeal to certain audiences using bias by headline, omission, and choice of words while the Kaiser Family Foundation stays neutral. Mass communication outlets have become fundamental parts of modern society in the recent years. Americans rely on these media outlets to stay updated on the worlds issues. However, these outlets know exactly how to shape and influence people inconspicuously. The News often caters to certain groups and the truth is usually dismissed.
