A Narrative Essay in Medical Assistant
The first section of the following essay will explain the communication skills such as having a great attitude, being able to understand the patient and physician; and also how to relate what the doctor has diagnose to the patient will help me become a great medical assistant. The next section will explain why conflict resolution is important in my career field. Being able to work in teams as a medical assistant is helpful because in any situation I would need the assistance of my co-workers. Being able to break information down to where the patient or patients can understand is a wonderful skill to posses because I will be dealing with so many cultures, ethnicity, and age groups. A lot of people do not understand when doctors and even medical assistants use certain terms, so when they are spoken to where they can understand, it makes them feel better just knowing what is going on instead of feeling more confused than what they was when they came in. And also it lets them know that you care enough to take the time and effort to make sure they understand. According to Engel (2000), Kamien explains that “the task of general practice should go well beyond simply dealing with a patient’s presenting complaint” (p.4). The same explanation applies to adapting to change as a medical assistant in the sense that I should be able to listen and adapt to each patient’s needs that I come in contact with. Being able to adapt to change is a plus because as a medical assistant I will be dealing with new equipment, new procedures, and different co-workers that might be able to show me better ways to treat the patient’s complaints. Adaptability is a skill that allows an individual to adjust to situations effortlessly as they evolve despite utter chaos. Ability to communicate with patients confidently – By constantly being around and talking to residents, patients and nurses in the retirement homes I have been able to develop great communication skills. This skill would be extremely helpful during medical training when working with real patients.
Medicine has the capability to cure or alleviated illness, and it even brings people together such as a doctor and the patients that seek their consult. My practicum class has helped me learn the skills necessary to become a physician, which includes taking vitals, patient assessment, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, etc. Likewise, my experience in the hospital setting has helped me achieve one quality of becoming a doctor, which is communication. Working in a hospital has afforded me the opportunity to work in an environment where it takes many people working together in order for the facility to run smoothly. Each individual has something special to contribute to the team that makes the hospital work to benefit the patient. In the Critical Care Unit that I am a part of it takes every team member working together for the unit to run smoothly. We have Nurses, a CNA, Sometimes a sitter, and a telemetry tech that run the unit. Nurses and CNA do direct patient care and sitter get to sit with patient that could ultimately do harm to themselves if left alone. My function in this group
A physician assistant is an integral part of a healthcare team . PAs and doctors are both trained to treat and diagnose patients based on the medical model of medicine . These similarities in education and training to contribute to the teamwork based approach from / to medicine , which in turn , allows patients access to quality care . Moreover , a PA is trained as / in / for a doctor to develop the necessary skills to not only seeing their own patients , but to also care for the patients that are unable to wait to see the doctor . A seasoned doctor and PA team are able to quickly and efficiently manage a large number of patients , with high levels of patient gratification .
In this essay I will recall and describe my experience in a health care environment and reflect on communication in that interaction. I will look into interpersonal and communication skills used by the health professional and what I learned from this interaction. And if I am going to use those skills in my future nursing practice.

Week two has ended and the stability of being able to work with CI for the entire week was present. From this week until the end of my clinical affiliation we will share the same schedule this has its ups and downs as she also works weekends and holidays which I guess is the hospital life of a physical therapist assistant. In this course, I learned to communicate following the five language skills; reading, writing, spelling, pronunciation, and speaking. It is important to be able to know how to communicate using medical terminology. Healthcare professionals use it every day in the workplace to communicate, it is considered the language of medicine. My goal is to become a Health Care Administrator I need to be able to communicate with Doctors, nurses, and other medical professions. I would not be able to communicate effectively if I do not know the medical terms.
