“What are you even doing here? I have never seen such flawed technique in all my years as a choreographer.” The words echoed throughout the medical college auditorium. Impelled by the admonishment in front of my peers, I persevered in my endeavor to improve upon my dancing prowess and by the final year of medical school was leading the college dance team. The above mentioned undertaking further spawned an interest for the discipline of Latin Ballroom which lead to participation at the national level. The unwavering focus and persistence even in the face of unfavorable odds is more broadly reflective of my approach towards learning, both academic and extracurricular. This has been instrumental in achieving stellar academic outcomes including being ranked nationally in the top 0.0004 percent in the premedical test and the top 0.6 percent in the common aptitude test for management training. …show more content…
In pursuant to that aim, I began my studies at the Indian Institute of Management post completion of medical training. The exposure to the various components involved in running a professional organization, such as human resources or operations, aided in developing a more nuanced and holistic viewpoint concerning healthcare. The exposure to a culture of task execution that relied on a team comprised of individuals with multifaceted talents helped advance my understanding of harmonization in group dynamics to maximize outcomes. This spurred the realization that the physician may be the spine of healthcare, but the spine cannot be functional without the entirety of the skeletal
Ballroom dance is a sport that involves productive thinking, strength, balance and control. This term has been centred around Figueroa 's Framework and the effect on access, equity and cooperation in ballroom dance. The aim for this report is to recognize which level of Figueroa 's Framework and Maslow 's hierarchy of human needs has had the most critical impact on my advantage and attempts in ballroom dancing this term. This report will focus on the interpersonal level of Figueroa 's framework and the associations that have affected my participation in ballroom. These consolidate the associates, friends, educators (Mrs Humphrys, Miss Grehan and Mrs Brennan), family member and mentors such as
Finding and growing into the person I am meant to become has been one of life’s greatest challenges. The person I am today was molded by trails and tribulations life has thrown my way. I am still journeying the path of becoming who I am meant to be, but along the way I have learned an immense amount about myself. The qualities and morals instilled in me along with life experiences have led me to seek a career in the health care field. The three-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Imaging is the cornerstone of my health care dream. The compassion in my heart to help people in need is what drives me to take this step into furthering my education.
I want to express my appreciation for your support in my education for almost 2 years now. I will keep you informed of any changes to my time as per school timetable concerning future clinical placements. Sometimes, I may need to come in the morning if my placement time is in the evening. I will get a medical note indicating the sick period.
Today was my last day of serving as a medical apprentice. I woke up and had picked fruit from my courtyard garden to keep me energized for today’s events. I strolled through the agora (marketplace) on my way to the Academy of Plato when I came across three sickly children. As a healer, I had the greatest urge to examine and most of all soothe the children of their pain. However, time did not allow it, so instead I purchased a few loafs of bread, with the loose drachmas I had in my pocket. It is quite tragic that half the children in Athens die before they reach ten years of age. The look of gratitude on their faces reminded me of the reason I aspire to become a doctor. It is my passion to heal the wounded, cure the sick, and discover new treatments. The agora was bustling with people, I saw vendors,
As a senior in high school, I am becoming aware of the technological advances in the medical field. I have also realized my love regarding the field of medicine and children. My desire to be a part of the medical field inspired me to seek an undergraduate degree in biology and enter Medical School. I intend to complete studies that expand my knowledge about medicine. I am writing this statement in the hope of pursuing advanced studies at NC State. I believe that these studies are essential for my future career field and will benefit me my entire life.
My life experiences have prepared me for a career in family medicine. I find such a field to require genuine interest, dedication, and the ability to communicate and relate to patients of all age groups. Upon entering medical school with an interest in pediatrics, which stemmed from a wonderful rapport with my own pediatrician, I assumed pediatrics was the field for me. I soon discovered, however, that I was interested in working with a wide variety of age groups and especially the geriatric population. I decided I wanted a career that allows me to work with an array of age groups and allows for me to continue following pediatric patients after they become adults. I remember feeling upset after the clinic where my pediatrician worked did not
Medicine is an ever-changing and improving field of study that consists of a variety of specialized parts and various aspects. There are always diseases, conditions, and health-related problems around the world. Despite the improvements in medicine, treatment, and hygiene, people are still losing their lives to diseases. The complexity of the human body fascinates me because I think it is an amazing factory consisting of different components from large body systems to every individual microscopic cell that all work together. They all have functions, and it is unbelievable how they all come together to encompass each and every individual. Much like cells, tissues, and organs of the body, every individual has an active role in society.
Thank you so much for accepting to write the letter of recommendation for my medical school application.
“Medical schools and residency programs have always sought excellence in the areas of education, research, and clinical care. However, these pursuits are not accomplished within a vacuum-rather, they are continually and necessarily influenced by social, cultural, political, legal, and economic forces” (Conrad). The quote by Conrad is a statement that perfectly explains the demand for excellence in the medical community. The demand for excellence is in constant flux as medicine is engulfed by bureaucracy. This take over subjects the pillars of the profession to constant challenges. The most recent challenge to the medical professions jurisdiction was, once again, one to the professions standards of expert knowledge. Since 2014, the states of Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas created some loopholes to allow students who have not matriculated into a residency to begin working as a “physician” with various titles such as the Graduate Registered Physician (GRP) in Arkansas, Assistant Physician in Missouri, and Training Physician in Oklahoma. These loopholes are being forced into the medical profession through political powers who have no medical backgrounds to be able to make such drastic judgment calls. Despite heavy opposition from AMA, the American Academy of Physician Assistants(AAPA), and other state accrediting boards, these bills have passed and have gone into laws. Many of the opposing physicians argued that these less qualified students are treating patients up to
There are copious questions that circulate through a senior or junior’s mind when preparing to not only apply to colleges, but also looking into graduate programs such as medical school. Among these are questions such as how to pay for college, what majors and minors would benefit a specific career, and what extracurricular programs would help them stand out when applying for graduate programs.
Medical School Applications/Standing Out A medical school is a tertiary educational institution that teaches medicine. You can earn a variety of degrees such as your Doctor of Medicine (MD), Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS), Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). The application is the single most important part of gaining access to these institutions with such high degrees. Many applications are similar to one another at medical schools, but there are numerous ways to further diversify your applications from the others around you.
I had an option between science of human and science of technology, I chose former as my career. I love to follow principles and wish to serve humanity as well so this seems the perfect field for me. After a thorough analysis and a complementary evaluation, I decided to be a general physician as Internal Medicine has always fascinated me and it can help me reach my future goals.
I hope all is well. It was a pleasure meeting you back at the Founders Circle and Chancellor's
My grandfather had rheumatoid arthritis. I vividly remember reaching up for the handles of his wheelchair and playing with his crooked fingers or knobby toes. As a three-year-old on his lap, I would be so overcome with curiosity and the fascination of examining his knuckles that he used to tell my grandmother I was his “baby doctor”. Of course I never understood the seriousness of the disease, or the toll it took on his quality of life until years later, when I found myself reading case studies in an anatomy textbook. Time passed, and so did my grandfather, but the allure of science and medicine for me grew swiftly. As an excited ten-year-old, when I single-handedly built my first functional crystal radio, I obviously thought it was the coolest thing ever. I had to update
It is with great pleasure I write this letter of recommendation for Ms. Meera Kapadia’s application to medical school. Since the beginning, Meera has shown a strength in taking initiative toward her goals. She approached me her freshman year to join my lab even though most students do not join until later on in their college career. Her first project with us was working with the Mayo Clinic in order to decrease the risk of internal injury during catheterization by developing an advanced surgical guide wire that has the ability to become more rigid or flexible at key points along the length of the wire. She was working with a graduate student on this project, but tended to be the leader rather than the mentee! She took on problems from unique directions and demonstrated her innovation in finding solutions. This led me to giving Meera her own project during her sophomore year of college. Due to her singular background in chemical engineering and extensive knowledge of biology, she was one of three chosen to be trained in working with Electroactive Poly-Amidoamide Polymer, a nanoparticle, that theoretically could act as a cost effective way for producing electrochemical sensors for biochemical detection. For her honors thesis, which I have the honor of acting as director, she will be working to test the effectiveness of this material and instrumentalizing it within glucose sensors for diabetes patients. Meera is incredible to work with, highly motivated, intelligent, and
