Men's Basketball Game Analysis

On Saturday February 3, 2018, I attended the Elon University’s Men’s Basketball game against University of Delaware. The final score of the game was Elon 89-76. The winning home game was located in the Alumni Gym, as the crowd was roaring for Dainan Swoope who scored his 1,000-career points during the game. Scoring 1,000-career points is an honor to achieve, and seeing his face when he hit his goal was amazing.
As a child, my dad raised my brothers and I to play basketball. I loved the sport and continued striving to be my best, just like he did. He got his 1,000-career points while he was still in high school and seeing that happen for Swoope tonight, made me remember how my dad must have felt getting that final basket to success.
Due to the fact that this game was on a Saturday night, there was a lot of fans there. What I noticed is that the fan section is made up of prominently parents of players and families from local towns. The students that are already involved in the program (e.g. video staff, promotional workers, etc.) are representing the student population at the game. …show more content…

This reoccurring issue is not just with Basketball, as it is prominent in all other sports at Elon. In the fall, I worked for the Elon University’s Football team. Football is my number one sport. I grew up raised in a football family and watched both my brothers play, and I still have one brother who is playing in college. I loved working for the team this fall, and I am going to continue working for them for the next 4 years. What I learned while working there was how the students are not heavily involved within the sport aspect of Elon. There are 17 intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports in the NCAA Division 1 (FCS Football) conference at Elon. It was mind boggling that not many students decided to participate in such an amazing
