This winter break my family and I went to Mexico. Every break we go to Mexico to visit my grandparents, my cousins, aunts and uncles. They live in Cuauhtémoc Chihuahua, we went to the plaza and the ice rink. We spend the christmas at the house. It was fun and I have happy moments with my family.
We make food one day before christmas in Noche Buena. We make turkey, rice, menudo etc. We wait until 12 o'clock to give us a hug of christmas than we open the gifts. They next day christmas we went to eat in a restaurant then we went to la plaza to take pictures of the family. When it's night the plaza get full of people because is all light up of lights of christmas.
The next day we went to the ice rink. I went with my sisters and cousins. It was
We got in our room and unpacked, rested, and in an hour or so we went to my great aunts house where our reunion was. There were people there that I hadn't seen in four years. We stayed till it was dark then we went to our hotel. I had to sleep on a springy pull out mattress that felt like springs were going to cut my back. The next day we went to the mall to get something to eat. We went to a steakhouse and had juicy tasty steaks. Then we went to a White Sox game where they were playing the Yankees. We sat so high I felt like we could touch the airplanes as they flew above us. I was a little disappointed in myself for forgetting my binoculars. When the games was over there were fireworks. After the firework we went back to our
Ever since fourth grade, one of my best friends have been Taylor Elam. Over the years that we’ve been friends we’ve had some jokes. My mom loves Mexican food; Taylor used to not like mexican food very much. Whenever our families would go out to eat, my mom would suggest something mexican. Whenever mexican was suggested by my mom, Taylor would respond “of course Hope wants mexican,” and whenever someone would ask where we were going to eat Taylor would say, “Hope wants mexican!” which we would always laugh about.
Mexico, a great place to visit. Especially when you have family over there, but when the family doesn’t like you and they are selfish then that’s when you might not want to visit them. My vacation to Mexico had many memorable moments, but when my cousin’s and I were playing hide and seek and I had to jump off a two story roof, because my cousin wouldn’t let me back in his house. This was one of many.
I can’t believe my first college semester is almost over. Key word is “almost” because the weeks following thanksgiving break will be critical for me. Even though it’s almost over, I must finish strong. I wouldn’t want all my hard work to go to waste. All the A’s that I earned so far must remain A’s for me in order for me to be happy with my academic performance. These next 3 weeks are going to be hectic, but also relaxing.
Cinco de Mayo means the fifth of May. It is not an independence day for Mexico like most unknowledgeable people think. Mexican Independence Day is celebrated on the 15th of September. Mexico declared independence from Spain on the 24th of August 1821. Cinco de Mayo is not an American holiday either. Mexico and the United States savor this holiday because it is the day where Mexican peasants/ commoners defeated the French and Mexican traitor army that double them in size in Puebla, Mexico one hundred miles away from Mexico city on the 5th of May, 1862.
Mexican, Filipino, and Thai these are just a few of the diverse cultures in this group. To begin with, some interesting aspects of the Mexican culture is that the primary language of the culture is Spanish, the primary religion is Catholicism, and in Mexico one of the popular celebrations are The Day of the Dead. To begin with the primary language of the Mexican culture is Spanish. Approximately 92.7 percent of the Mexican population Speaks spanish. The lesser used dialects in Mexico include such as Mayan, and Nahuatl. Another interesting aspect of the Mexican culture is the primary religion is Catholicism. 82% of the Mexican population identifies as Catholic. There are also very few Muslims, Jews, and Buddhists. Last but not least, Day of the dead is celebrated in Mexico. It is celebrated on November 2. This day is set aside to remember and honor those who died.
Mexico is a populous country with more than 120 million people ("Mexico Guide"). 60 percent of the population is mestizo (Amerindian-Spanish), 30 percent is Amerindian or predominantly Amerindian, and 10 percent is white and other ("Mexico Guide"). According to the article, "Mexican Culture: Customs & Traditions," Spanish is spoken by the majority, with 92.7 percent of the Mexican population (Zimmermann). This is the result of Spain colonized Mexico during the 16th and 17th centuries. Before that, Mexicans used the Maya and Aztec languages, which explains why some small Mexican groups today still speak indigenous languages, such as Mayan, Nahuatl and other regional languages (Zimmermann).
“Culture is defined as a learned meaning system that consists of patterns of traditions, beliefs, values, meanings, and symbols that are passed on from one generation to the next and are shared to varying degrees by interacting members of a community, (“Understanding Intercultural Communication,” Chung, Ting-Toomey, 16). And because of this history and geography play an important role in determining why we do, feel, and believe the things we do, and because of this, it impacts the culture that is developed overtime. And when we look at Mexico and the culture it holds, we see this to be true.
My family has many traditions one of them is to make tamales on Christmas Eve so they are ready for Christmas Day. My family stays up on Christmas Eve and we stay up all night till the clock hits 12:00, that is when we start opening presents. Later on we go to sleep/take a nap and wake up so we can do El Nacimiento de Dios. El Nacimiento de Dios is when our family gathers around the setting of where Jesus was born and "we see his birth". We usually do a posada which is huge dinner with many types of Mexican foods like tamales, posole, rice, beans, etc. Each year my grandma, grandma, uncle, aunt, and some cousins come for Christmas from Mexico and we have a family gathering where we meet our family members in which we have not seen for a long
What did I do over winter break? I did so many fun things these past two weeks. I went to the mall with my friend, then he came over to my house, and he gave me a Christmas present.
There are a variety of common courtesies that Americans should observe when in Mexico. Some of the important issues of cultural etiquette are described herein. When in Mexico Americans should refrain from calling themselves “Americans.” Mexicans consider themselves Americans too since the whole continent is called America. Another part of Mexican culture that may be shocking to American’s traveling there is the way machismo is verbalized by male members of Mexican society. Making sexual or derogatory remarks at women is a typical part of the culture and should not be seen as harassment. Wearing a wedding band and mentioning children usually will stop these types of comments. Attempting to speak
the fist thing i did on Christmas break was go to my uncles house to have a new years party.we had finger foods ping pong, and lots and lots of chicken nuggets. Are family is really competitive so we went up stairs and payed q tennis challenge at first it was 2v2's then it was 1v1's the it was family vs family.if someone lost they would be really mad and throw a fit that they lost.Mos to f the people were really out of it at the party.
The hardest thing I did on Christmas break was figure out what to ask for. I recently bought a Nintendo Switch so I was going to ask for some more games for it for Christmas. Then I suddenly had the idea to ask for a bunch of legos. That lasted 3 days. I switched up the amazon shopping cart(because that is my "wishlist") to some switch games.
My my cousin Zack, his girlfriend at the time Skylar, Zack’s mom, my second mom, my amazing and caring mom Becky, my very good friend Amber and I went to the cities for a weekend to go shopping and watch some Team ND Hockey. After a long day of stressful hockey games and going into double overtime Zack’s team ended winning that game and moving into the championship game held the next day at 8:ooam, yes 8:00 in the morning, killer right? Since his game that day was at noon and got over around 2:00 we had the whole day to do what every girl does best, shop. Oh and if you are Zack this is what he does best also. It wasn’t that nice out but we didn’t care because all we wanted to do was go shopping. It was the last weekend in September so it was
I believe that learning about your heritage is extremely important in understanding who you are. I come from a Hispanic Heritage and I hope my children will one day learn about their heritage. She is a talented teacher that has helped my child grow and develop as a person. Mrs. Andueza has changed my child’s views on learning another language. When you hear above and beyond you think of someone who has exceeded past the requirement and more. Mrs. Andueza is deserving of the phrase “above and beyond” because she does just that! This incredible teacher has brought excitement and an extra twist to the Spanish language. Before my daughter had been in Mrs. Andueza’s class she would complain about how the classes were tedious and that she didn't
