Middle Adulthood And Middle Childhood Development

Decent Essays

Middle childhood is a time that involves many changes for individuals as they are growing and maturing throughout their life span. These differences can be different depending on their sex and the way that they mature. They have significant differences from early childhood in both their cognitive development and their physical development. This also includes the social environment. A significant part of their development can be influenced by the way they are raised in their childhood, and especially in their middle childhood. This difference of sexes is evident in motor development in young individuals. This is evidenced in the motor development of young individuals. Boys generally develop gross motor development faster than girls do, while girls develop fine motor skills faster (Ashford & LeCroy, 2018, 2013). This middle childhood is characterized by a slower pace of physical growth, in between the rapid growth of both early childhood and adolescence (Ashford & LeCroy, 2018, 2013). This increasing development is important in keeping children active during this critical time (Ashford & LeCroy, 2018, 2013). Schools can play a key role in this aspect. Schools shape how active these middle childhood individuals are, such as when they only have individuals active for a reduced amount of time than is recommended (Ashford & LeCroy, 2018, 2013). This can contribute to a poorer view of health and fitness than individuals who are able to form a healthy relationship with activity.
