The deeply researched public policy speeches were better than I anticipated. I thought that more people would have relied on their outline. Most of them looked out at the audience rather than at their outline. I think that people were less nervous and more prepared this round of speeches.
There were many good central messages with these speeches. One of the speeches that had the best central message were Mikey’s speech. I like how he did his on something very recent, which was the apple verses FBI case. I liked his because he went in to much detail about it. I also enjoyed Jessica's central message. I liked that she did hers on a subject that she cares about a lot, which was about the common core. I feel that she got her message out very well. I feel the same with Nick’s speech on free community college. I feel that he also got his point out very well.

The visual aids that people used were very helpful in understanding the topic. Mikey's PowerPoint was a good example of this. He used many pictures to bring humor to the situation. I think that that was very creative and it was fun to watch and hear about his topic. I found Mike's speech to be very creative. This is because even though some of his presentation was very graphic I think that was creative that he used what he did. By doing this, he got everyone’s attention.
The delivery and flow of all the speeches were great because so many people were upbeat. One of the speeches that flowed the best was Mikey’s speech because he spiced up his speech, which made me want to actually hear his speech. Another speech that I felt flowed well and was upbeat was Anthony's speech on supplements. I think that his was very upbeat because he was not nervous. Another speech that I thought was very outgoing and energetic was Kylie speech on invasive species. I think that she was upbeat because she was prepared for it. In addition, she was not very nervous
The speaker’s delivery was good, they were so nice and socialized. They were all standing and walking around the class room when they were giving the speech, they were asking audience questions, discussions and everybody contributed in the class room, they speakers were not loud, their voice was good for audiences, they were speaking slowly so that everybody can understand, they used their hands to explain things and also read PowerPoint to audience, Yes speakers were natural, at ease, direct and communicative which make the speech interesting and understandable to audience. Speakers were organized and they were not using terms that audience may not understand and they were not just repeating one thing. Speech was really going smoothly. Yes there was introduction, which is how everybody generally has their own primary love languages for receiving love and giving love, Body was to known the love languages such as words of Affirmation, Quality time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of service and Physical touch and conclusion was knowing the love languages is powerful, but knowing how they work in your relationships that is the game changer.
Since Obama’s announcement of his idea to provide free community college an uproar of an argument has arose with two distinct sides: community college should be free and community college should not be free. The idea behind free community college is to help individuals reach towards a college degree just as people are easily set forth to reach for a high school degree. The hope is that by deleting the financial barrier that comes with community college more people are willing to aim for an associates degree and possibly higher. There are states that have decided to take the matter into their own hands and are planning to implement this idea. However, the idea of having free community college implemented throughout all states is still questionable
I enjoyed watching both speeches. The two speeches are different but similar at the same time. The first speech I watched was Severn Susuki Speaking for the Environmental Children’s Organization. Her tone of voice throughout the speech was confident and full of emotion. I mean she silenced the UN for 5 mins, obviously it was a great speech. As she mentions near the end of her speech she directs it to “grown ups” to the adults and challenges them to please make their actions reflect their words. She makes several great points throughout her speech. Always reminding them she is only a child, but she is aware of what’s going on.
Catharine’s speech on Sugar: The Masked Villain, was both very provocative and illuminating. Her delivery with an air of confidence seemed effortless and very knowledgeable as she used many relatable comparisons and visuals to create her point that sugar is an addictive hazard in our food. While the delivery of the speech was overall wonderful, the wordiness of the powerpoint and her first hand account of withdrawal from sugar made the speech less effective and appealing to her audience. The first thing I noticed about Catherine’s speech delivery was her effortlessness.
Now, onto his delivery and impact. Yes there was good eye contact with the audience as well as natural hand movements throughout the speech. However, his voice and toned stayed the same throughout the entirety of his
I loved your presentation specially because you chose Animation as your target. Animated movies are my favorite and getting to know more about was definitely fun. Is very interesting to know how far animation has come after all these years. You presented enough information and details about the art you chose which made it very easy and simple to understand. Looking back to the silent era we can see how much animated movies has evolved. Since technology wasn’t a huge thing back then I must give credit to the producers for doing such a great job. Colors in animated movies play a huge role since colors is one of the first thing that gets the viewers’ attention and I was able to notice that when I had to watch a black and white animated
The speaker made direct eye contact at all times unless his head was moving to place emphasis on what he was saying. Further, the speaker spoke loud enough to be heard and did not require me to turn my volume up super high while struggling to hear him. Additionally, the speaker utilized a good pace. He moved slow enough for me to comprehend everything he was telling me but fast enough so that I did not get bored and distracted. Finally, the speaker alternated his pitch throughout the speech which kept my attention. Overall, besides the previously addressed issues, the delivery of the speech was great! I would, however, suggest having more time of the speech spent face to face with the speaker for a more powerful speech.
Scott’s speech lacked a creative aspect, however, it did tie into the whole speech and helped set up the flow of the speech for the audience. He also had a nice transition from the introduction to his grab bag items to his self-introduction. I enjoyed how he showed his items before getting into the main part of his speech. It set up an outline for the
A couple people’s speeches stuck out the most to me. The first one was a middle aged man who discussed how for the longest time he tried to use his work and kids as motivation for him to quit drinking but it would never work or last. He said the only thing that worked was realizing the higher power, and how to receive help from that higher power you most give too and try to be better and he said the first step was going to the AA meetings. After he finished he also thanked me for reading one of the 12 steps of AA because when he was younger with problems he was too scared and he said that seeing me read and not being scared, even though I wasn’t an alcoholic, makes his life a little more “green” (which I’m amusing means that it gives him more
I felt I did good on the content of my speech. I was able to be a bit technical for those who knew about my subject, but informative and toned down for those who didn’t know anything. I also felt my visual aids were good because I brought in real truck parts for everyone to see.
3. Was the speech well-organized? Did it have a robust introduction, a solid body with specific main points, and a conclusion? How was the time allotment for each section (too long, too short?) Were the times dedicated to each section appropriate? (Introduction and Conclusion: between 45 seconds to1 minute; Body: main points each 1:15 – 1:30)
The presentation Aid the speaker chose to use is a projector hooked up to a computer using a PowerPoint presentation, the use of these really brought out the message is trying to get across. We have some people that absorb information by listening others are visual learners so he covered both bases.
Her personal experience helped add another level to her presentation and really engaged the audience. I loved her tone it made it sound like she was talking with us and not at us. It also made her sound really confident and sincere. Her visual aids help me to see all the parts of Disney she was talking about when she showed the map. I liked how she explained and pointed to the map, adding support to her thesis and point of the speech.
He was able to keep everyone’s attention while he was talking and able to get his point across just by using his language. He came across very confidently and that added to the overall professionalism of his speech. I think that even though he was lacking some details through out his speech, his presentation of the speech was able to help effectively communicate to his audience what he was trying to get across. I also think that his PowerPoint help to get his point across. Not only did it have valid information for the audience, it was also visually pleasing and entertaining again helping to keep the audience’s focus and attention through out the
The most effective overall speaker in my opinion would have to be Robert. The way he acts on stage feels like he knows where he’s at and runs it. His speech regarding the “No Smoking Policy” was outstanding in such a way it was well spoken. In my opinion why he deserves to win the most effective overall speaker would have to be because of his charisma, preparation, confidence, and attitude on stage.
