Mindful and Reflective Practice The information presented during this course has increase my knowledge and experience about my role as an early childhood educator. The resources presented helped me to learn ways to promote healthy development and well-being of all children and how to be an advocate for them. I believe this class enriched my knowledge about infant-toddler care and education to the point that I would most like to express to others its importance. One thing that I would like to share is that infant–toddler care and education is crucial for physical and cognitive development. The caregiver/parent interaction is necessary for the children to keep alive the desire for communication and learning. I would like to express to …show more content…
In the modules I learned that children develop at different paces, the caregiver needs to explain what will happen next, asking and waiting for the child's cooperation and participation. The caregiver needs to honor a child’s culture and interact with them. Also parents and caregivers need to pay close attention to children and never ignore them, because if they do, the child will demand more attention. I think what I learned in these modules might be applicable to the care and education of older children, because teachers should expose children to this new kind of environment that must be according to their age, and challenge them to meet goals that without this exposure to the environment would be very difficult. I also learned in the modules that caregivers need to support attachment. I believe this is applicable to the care of older children as well because we can help parents have a good relationship with children and encourage them to talk and develop a relationship, so the child will feel more comfortable to talk to the parent and share good and bad experiences about their school day. I think that parents have to give the support to be confident and to be open to promote healthy family relationships. I learned that language is

The early years framework emphasises a personal and individual approach to learning and development because valuing a child’s individuality, ideas and feelings is an important part of developing an individual approach to the learning and development. A child has universal physical needs such as food, drink and shelter and psychological needs such as love, affection, security, friendship which are essential to maintaining their quality of life. In recognising and trying to meet an individual child’s needs each child’s age, physical maturity, intellectual abilities, emotional development, social skills and past experiences and relationships need to be considered.
This unit does not introduce much new material. Instead, we expect you to integrate technical and theoretical knowledge acquired from study across your degree. We refer to two frameworks that may support you in carrying out this integration:
This paper is about my experience with mindfulness based meditation and scientific inquiry of these experiences. Mindfulness based meditation is describes as technique used to cultivate nonreactive, non-judgmental and stable awareness of the present moment (Garland and Gaylord, 2009). The end goal is to sustain this meta-cognitive state for a long period of time. I practiced non-denominational form of mindfulness based meditation for the first time in my psychology class, which was devoted towards intellectual and experiential examination of meditation. The practice was conducted in a group it was instructed by our own professor and it begun at the end of class. There was one sessions per week and each session was structured meaning it was

Providing children with an environment that nurtures their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development is the framework that will promote children’s optimal learning and development. Gaining knowledge about the child will help a teacher to develop and create programs that are suitable for the age and the stages of children’s development. Applying developmentally appropriate practices will support the excellence in early childhood education because it is based off of the knowledge of knowing each child as an individual and how they develop.
In order to be healthy and have a good future children need special skills that their caregivers must help them learn. Being self-aware, able to overcome stress, be in command of your feelings and have a belief system are tools the child will use throughout their lifetime, therefore, the teachers must be able to communicate effectively with each other and the parents. After all, instructors in childcare settings guide the children to make smart choices that keep everyone in a state of wellness and safety. In order to help the kids grow mentally and socially, the caregiver needs to have these skills as well and use creative methods. These methods will teach the minors kindness, how to make smart decisions, be positive about themselves and use nice and proper language with others
“Relationships are the foundation of the development and implementation of the curriculum for the infants and toddlers. Responsive caregiving and use of individual caregiving routines(for example, nappy changing, meals, sleep) provide the frame for curriculum implementation. Parents should be involved to take appropriate decision about the children’s learning and development”.
This past week in my infants and toddlers class, we worked on chapters one and two from the text book. The first chapter was based on a discussion of principles, practices, and curriculum. During this topic, I learned that relationships between infants and caregivers that are primary established is built from respect, responsive, and reciprocal interactions.
Vital signs are a fundamental component of nursing care and indicate the body’s ability to maintain blood flow, regulate temperature and regulate oxygenate the body tissue. In the United States, major depressive disorder (MDD) is listed as one of the most common mental health disorders (NIMH). Medication, such as antidepressants are effective in treating depressive symptoms in the short run but not in the long run (El-Mallakh, Gao & Roberts, 2011). The acknowledged importance for mindfulness intervention in treating depression has gained attention in the recent years. Mindfulness refers to the conscious state in which an individual focuses on experiencing the present moment (Brown & Ryan, 2003). In the practice of mindfulness, exercises such as meditation techniques, breathing techniques, postures and more are used to facilitate the moment-to-moment experience (Kabat-Zinn, 2005). Some preliminary evidence supports mindfulness therapy for treating depressed mood (Manicavasgar, Parker & Perich, 2011; Kuyken et al., 2008; Mathew, Whitford, Kenny, et al., 2010). In particular, mindfulness therapy has shown an equivalent level of depression relapse prevention as maintenance antidepressant drug (Piet & Hougaard, 2011).
Relationships are key in infant-toddler care and education and they grow over time with interactions or as we have learned the "Three-R interactions" (Gonzalez-Mena & Widmeyer Eyer, Principles, Practice, and Curriculum, 2015). The Three-R interactions are respectful,

What comes to your head when you think of writing? Personally, I think of a long dreadful process, that I am not particular too good at. Even though one half of my brain wants to hate writing, the other half realizes how important of a quality writing really is. Over my high school and middle school years I have learned many of my own deficits when it comes to writing. Attempting to over come many these deficits in my writing, I attempt to seek perfection in my limited strengths. I am going to discuss assets and weaknesses of mine, that make me believe that I am no better than just a average writer.
