In this assignment I chose to share an example of missed written communication. Part of my job as a systems administrator is to coordinate and facilitate meetings involving management staff members spread between several geographical locations. I prefer that staff attend these meetings in-person, but there are occasions when staff request the ability to join via teleconference. We recently hired a new director who received my invitation; however, because previous meetings had attendees on the teleconference line, the new director assumed it was always available and did not attend this particular meeting in-person. When the miscommunication was realized there was no time to set up the teleconference line and equipment. Subsequently, the new
Before the writer shift started, the evening Staff informed the writer that, Dequan and Stephen were going at each other verbally and physically. Approximately 10:20pm, the writer went outside to have a conversation with DN about the situation, and was asked to report any possible situations with other youths to staff, if there is any. The writer also did the same with Stephen. Around 11:40pm, DN and SB got into verbal altercation, where both youths were going into one another’s space. At this time, writer tried to re-direct both youths verbally, but was unsuccessful. The writer warned both not to go physically, or it would be discharged for both, since both were getting closer and not listening to redirections. As soon as the writer said this, DN punched SB in the chest. At this time, writer decided to give DN 24 hour
Ineffective communication can be devastating to a department within an organization. This usually occurs when managers do not meet with staff regularly to check in or update staff of new occurrences. Even if the manager does follow through with regular meetings the manager must abide by the three “C’s” rule of communicating with clarity, completion, and conciseness (Juneja, 2011).
Written communication can take the form of legal documents or manuals that can be stored electricity or hard copy. Allows workers to have access to customers information. 1.) The course covered areas that are critical for justice to be served. Much of the text highlighted the need for correct, reliable, complete, and understandable language required from law enforcement. The first chapter was about writing correctly by organizing, understanding confusing words and phrases and using proper sentences. This chapter also laid out ways and means to improve your verbal and written communication. This led us into Chapter 2 where the differences between oral and written records are discussed. It emphasized the importance of written documentation for permanent records which are used in the future for all types of references. Chapter 3

Good written communication is essential for business purposes. A letter is a good example of written communication. An example could be, the hospital sending a letter out to someone who may have an appointment with a consultant. The letter would inform the individual on the time, date and location of the appointment. Another example of written communication could be a consultant writing to a GP informing him/her of results of a test carried out on his/her
Communication was lacking in a consistent manner in oral, written, electronic versions. Many pieces were available but never consolidated to present a complete picture or close the loop.
What are some possible reasons for Todd’s parents not attending the conference, answering the phone message, or acknowledging Julie’s written communication?
Communication serves as a critical first impression when talking to professional figures. Growing up a basketball player, I have come across many adults who obtain a higher authority in athletics. My goal has always been to play college basketball and play professionally. Talking with these high level figures is very important to my success of becoming both. A time I communicated strongly was the first time I talked to my college recruiter. The effectiveness of my words helped to get my point across so that my recruiter could understand me in the manner as I intended. The conversation we had was very professional and the usage of my vocabulary and body language enhanced throughout the conversation. He was able to understand my intentions behind what I delivered to him so that we could have an ongoing conversation. Communicating with my recruiter showed him that I was capable to talk to him and others over him without having a mediocre conversation.
As we learned in class, there is no single effective way to communicate; however, there are different strengths that someone can naturally have or acquire through practice (Adler, Rosenfield, & Proctor, 2015) . A strength that I believe I possess is being able to communicate well with different people in various situations. Sarah Beth is a girl in my church who is my age, and she has Down syndrome. Sarah Beth is highly functional, and she has contagious energy. Because Sarah Beth has Down syndrome, one has to speak a little more descriptively and a little less complicated to communicate well with her. Whenever I see Sarah Beth, she raises her hand to give me a high-five and she asks me about my boyfriend. Although I love seeing Sarah Beth

In order to address my awareness of demographic difference in my introductory communication, I will send out two separate letters with the same pictures and content, with the difference of language. This is for students who’s parents can not speak English
Upon communicating across the room, I felt a mixture of comfort and unease. The unease was the result of speaking louder than normal and that meant drawing attention to myself. Otherwise, the distance gave a comforting sense.
In the case of the Clueless Communicator, the actions of Jenny, a young but highly-skilled IT professional, will indirectly assist with the implementation of department-wide initiatives that will affect the overall development of employees. The Managing Director of a newly established firm received an email from Jenny that was not only lacking in grammatical correctness, professionalism, and effective communication, but the email was also late in delivery which could have caused the firm to lose a client. It is imperative that the Director discusses this issue with Jenny or her career will fall flat. In the communication with Jenny, it is essential to address the seriousness of her actions, but it is of equal importance to use the situation as an opportunity to implement 1:1 meetings and professional development classes that will benefit not only Jenny but the organization in its entirety.
Unsurprisingly, the massive project with poor communications ended in a crash of epic proportions on the launch date of 1 October 2013. The website went live on a day that, ironically enough, was marked with a government shutdown. The website went the same way as the government and quite working as soon as it was launched. Users reported attempting to register more than 40 times without any luck, only to have the website return an error message (Ford, 2013). The website launch was immediately deemed to be a failure. Upwards of 250,000 people at a time were trying to access the website culminating in 8.1 million people receiving an error message within the first four days of launch. Unsurprisingly, a project that had timeliness above quality, got exactly what was asked for.
