Throughout the evolution of modern music we have seen many different artists come and go in the pop music scene. Some have been able to leave a lasting mark while others have only managed to be a one hit wonder. However, there are the few that have been able to influence and completely alter the course of an entire music genre. One of those honorable mentions is a college dropout named Kanye Omari West whom throughout his entire career, with an arsenal of 7 critically acclaimed albums, has been able to pave the way for many of todays top hip-hop/pop artists.
She has risen from a poor background and was ranked the richest African American of the 20th Century, the greatest black philanthropist in American history and was once the world’s only black billionaire. Activist groups have picketed his concerts, parents have condemned his songs, and countries like Canada and Australia have even tried to cancel his tours. However, regardless of the intense backlash, Mathers has revolutionized hip hop, transforming it into a mainstream form of music. Mathers’ story indicates that artists must ultimately work without fear of controversy.

Many people throughout my lifetime have impacted me in one way or another. Some have been for good and others have not been for good. When it comes to people that have impacted me it's usually normal ordinarily people, but the one person who is not just anybody else would have to be the famous Aubrey Drake Graham or better know as Drake. For the most part, Famous celebrities don’t really have an impact on me especially not rappers, but it’s the way drake is fearless about being different and not being a follower is what attracts me the most and motivates to not be scared about being different in order to reach what I want. Rap music has been by far one of the most influential types of music out there ever since the late 1980’s.
Eminem. The name is internationally known, almost notoriously, and for good reason. Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem or his alter ego Slim Shady has outsold every other artist in a still predominately African American genre, rap (Allison, 2002). Not only that, he’s one of the highest selling artists in any genre as a male solo artist. This feat is even more impressive when you consider the fact that his body of work, especially once he first got big was very controversial with critics stating that he was homophobic, sexist, and outright offensive (White, 2006). If you were a teenager growing up in the late 1990’s there was barely one as “hot” as Eminem in terms of hype and popularity. He has won several Grammy awards as well as an Academy Award (Calhoun, 2005) – quite impressive considering his slow rise to fame and humble beginnings.
