In an extreme environment like Mono Lake the presence of life there seems almost impossible. Yet it is a very productive ecosystem. Mono Lake has a very high salinity content , it is 3 times saltier than our ocean, and has a ph balance of 10. Not much life can sustain in the salty , chemically extreme environment but microbial life thrives.

While there are many tributaries and reservoirs along the Tennessee River, Norris Lake is by far the most popular. This large reservoir offers an impressive number of marinas along hundreds of miles of shoreline. While this may be the area's most popular reservoir, it still retains a natural ambiance. Natural wildlife flourish along the reservoir with songbirds singing in the sunrise in the morning and wildflowers blooming in the spring.
On August 19th 1955 the state of Connecticut was flood that filled many of the valleys causing approximately $185.5million in damages and 87 fatalities. The flood was caused by two back to back hurricanes rains from Hurricane Connie and Diane that totaled from 13 to 30 inches of rainfall within a 24 hour period. The Naugatuck River, the Farmington River, the Quinebaug River, Mad and Still Rivers were hit the hardest destroying 563 homes, the majority of which were located in lower Naugatuck Valley and Beacon Falls. Since this great flood many new ways to control this situation have been developed and put in place, such as many damns but by the Army Corps, to protect the surrounding towns.
Dealing with flooding has been an all too often occurrence for those who live or work around the western suburbs of Chicago. Parking lots are often underwater making them unsafe to enter and effectively shutting down the Schools and businesses in the area. Standing water is found around every corner causing roads to become barricaded off. I have personally watched cars floating down the street. Finally, the local residents and governments have had enough, they've reached a decision. One of the parks in the area will be torn down to make room for an emergency runoff pond. The chosen park is Armstrong Park, which includes the natural walking path park called Lake George. Adding the runoff pond will vastly improve the surrounding communities

Kennedy Lake is a 4.0 ha lake with an average depth of 2.4 meters and a maximum depth of 3.7 m located in south west Tucson. The lake is dyed green to protect from algal blooms, has minimal trees surrounding it, and a decent amount of submersed and emergent vegetation. Sunfish were stocked at the end of March and catfish were stocked the morning of sampling date (April 6, 2016). We detected rainbow trout, redear sunfish, bluegill, threadfin shad, and largemouth bass. Apparently there may also be grass carp (white amur) present to help regulate aquatic plants. Fishing pressure on sampling night seemed to be intense, with lots of people fishing. People were a mix of young and old with some families present as well.
It was right for people to reintroduce wolves into Yellowstone park. It was right because like in the second paragraph the wolves changed how Yellowstone was. Like I said, wolves are keystone species and in an ecosystem you need keystone species to keep an ecosystem at its best. With and without the wolves in Yellowstone the park is very different. Let me ask you, would you like to go to a park with a ton of deer, no birds, dead plants and trees, and other wildlife that in non existent in that area. Or would you rather go to a park with beautiful plants and tall trees, lots of wildlife, etc. In my opinion I would rather go to the park with lots of wildlife and beautiful plants and trees. According to National Geographic, Yellowstone National
Even though the LADWP (Los Angeles Department of Water and Power) had taken many gallons of water, today water is currently filling up Mono Lake, par to what some may have thought that LA ought to pay for what they did. After losing a lawsuit, LADWP was required to release water into Mono Lake to raise the lake level 20 feet (6.1 m) above the then-current water level of 25 feet (7.6 m) below the 1941 water level. As of March first, the water level in Mono Lake has risen 38.9 feet (11.9 m) of the then-required 20 feet (6.1 m). Los Angeles had made up for the lost water through state-funded conservation and recycling projects.
In South Charleston, USA, there exists the quaint and humble Little Creek Park. Here, visitors and residents have enjoyed its expansive lands for decades. This locale has tennis courts, green spaces, picnic shelters available for rental, barbecue grills and other recreational equipment. Due to these features, Little Creek Park becomes a natural haven to hang out and spend the days becoming one with nature. Some of the sights to see while hiking at the park are a natural rock formation known as the “Devil’s Tea Table,” the old saw mill and a natural spring. South Charleston Memorial Ice Arena is also located within walking distance of the park. Check out these hotels and vacation rentals nearby to get yourself a slice of nature's proverbial
1. The water budget for a closed basin such as Mono lake can be generally described as: (rainfall + stream runoff + groundwater flow) - (evaporation + usage). Since it is difficult or impossible to accurately measure, groundwater flow can be expressed as equal to the difference between the actual measured storage of the lake and the calculated storage using: groundwater flow=actual measured storage - ((rainfall + stream runoff)-(evaporation + usage)).
The quality of the Uhigh creek water was excellent. Unfortunately, though, not all creeks have water quality so great. Humans can carry a large amount of fault for polluting water. For example, when farmers put pesticides and fertilizers in their crops, wind and rain can carry these so-called poisons through the air. The pesticides can end up in the creek or body of eater, causing the nitrate and phosphate levels to increase, along with pollution. Another way humans can cause polluted water is when factories use water to clean and power machinery. Sometimes the water that has been used and is now dirty, will be let back into the water. This water is warmer than the rest of the creek and disturbs the level of dissolved oxygen, which screws up the life in the creek.

When we first built our resort along Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, we faced several challenges. First and foremost, we wanted to create a resort that would be beautiful enough to fit the natural beauty found on the lake. This is not an easy task when the lake itself is made up of waters that seem to be surreal and it is surrounded by majestic looking mountains. Our second task was figuring out how to keep the guests comfortable. This meant ensuring they had all of the luxuries of home, which is not always easy when the power supply in this area is not always reliable. It is why we have invested a lot of our time in searching through an endless amount of home generator reviews. It is why our guests enjoy only the best when other parts of Lake Atitlan may be suffering without power.
Today, the lake and its surrounding terrain are a very interesting site to behold. It is, in fact, the largest lake that is completely inside the state of California at over 70 square miles in size (Foss 1). It is also one of the oldest lakes and ecosystems here in the United States. The lake itself is now almost completely uninhabitable by most marine life, as the salt levels in the water are far too high to be able to sustain fish populations. Still. There is an abundance of aquatic life, even though the salts levels are too high to sustain the normal fish populations that are found in other surrounding lakes in the Eastern Sierra Mountain ranges near by. The lake is now a prime breeding ground for a very small number of species. Brine shrimp and the brine flies that feed off their larva are the dominant groups in the salty lake. Today, "Mono lake is actually one of the most productive ecosystems on the
