To help Monsanto improve on their social responsibility, recommendations would be made to get to know the customers and expand business relationships. Farmers and consumers are skeptical of change therefore the power of business to solve social and environmental problems require strategic planning. Improving marketing, employee satisfaction, legal treatment and customer loyalty along with affluent partnerships is to be expected. Furthermore, Monsanto business practice should continue to support charities and nonprofits with financial donations from the corporation. To achieve sustainability it is imperative for the business to apply its resources and expertise in areas that impact social good through day to day operations.

In prehistoric times, the cultures that flourished were those who grew grains, rice and corn. Now one of those very cultures face cultural genocide as Monsanto works to destroy its roots and replace ancient maize with GMO corn. The film SUNÚ documents this struggle, from the halls of government to the hills of southern
In my opinion, we should be most concered about India's privitized agriculture and Indian farmers. I believe this because in the last decade more than 250,000 Indian farmers have committed suicide due to the expense put on Monsanto's seeds and pesticides. A problem with the seeds can also be so they are not bred for that area, so they fail more fequently, causing even more stress on farmers. The bigger organizations also use biotech cotton seeds which gives them a higher yeild but also requires higher amounts of water, which they have the funds for. However the smaller companies don't have acess to suitable irrigation and have mainly rain-fed crops, which means they fail more often and the farmers suffer even more. Monsanto's high cost of
Stakeholders are comprised of a multitude of people that have an interest in a company including employees, customers, special interest groups, board of directors, regulatory agencies, and investors (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2015). Monsanto has an interesting history, and has impacted stakeholders in a negative manner throughout its beginnings in 1901. The current stakeholders that are impacted by Monsanto activities are all of the above listed. The company has had legal issues in the past with the widely known issue of the development of Agent Orange and the impact on our veterans. After settling for 180 million dollars, the company became a biotechnology company developing biotechnology products in the farming industry. Stakeholders on both sides of this issue have voiced positive and negative concerns. Positive
Ethical issues remain relevant aspects for businesses operation and competitiveness. The elements aforesaid ensure that every firm has what it takes to connect well with the community to provide consistent market and productive relationship with other stakeholders. Monsanto Company that was in a tussle with the community over the production of the genetically modified products that seemed detrimental to the society responded by creating awareness to the people about the need for sustainable farming practices (Carroll, 2015). The company notified farmers that the world population was increasingly going up thus a need for sustainable agricultural practices. The company
Monsanto has quite a few stakeholders group in the company. Among those groups there is a primary and secondary stakeholder. The primary stakeholders are the ones that continuous engagement is absolute necessary for the survival of the company. These include employees, customers, shareholders, investors, government and community. The government and the community maintain infrastructure for the company. Secondary stakeholders are not involved in the day to day operations of the company. These include media, trade associations and special interest groups.
Monsanto has various stakeholder groups all across the globe. The key stakeholders are: members of the global financial community; farmers and other agricultural organizations; Monsanto employees; animal feed producers and distributors; insect/pest control organizations; federal, state and local agricultural, regulatory and environmental agencies; and the list goes on and on (Beyond the Rows, 2012). Monsanto states that their main goals is to provide stakeholders with better information regarding all of their activities and that they are committed to making meaningful strides to report on environmental sustainability performance throughout the world (Beyond the Rows, 2012).
I feel that people should be allowed to make policies for the government that affect corporations they worked for in the past because of two reasons. One reason for this is, employees that have worked for corporations in the past may not agree with the corporation's ideas and or main points. A second reason for this is, because some corporations and industries become increasingly globalized and they affect more and more people. For example, that’s exactly what the company Monsanto wants. According to the documentary “ The Future of Food”, Monsanto once stated, “Monsanto should not have to vouchsafe the safety of biotech food, our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is the FDA’s job.” This quote makes Monsanto
Putting small farmers out of business, a history of paying lobbyists to block government regulations on genetically modified organisms, destroying the environment, lacking testing on their products; these are all characteristics of Monsanto’s company. Monsanto Company is the world’s largest seed company. They specialize in genetic manipulation of organisms.
1 am not surprised of the outcome of your meeting with Mr. Smythe-Jones (CFO). However, I cannot answer your request until I heard from local management. As it was agreed on the last meeting, we were precluded ,from doing any work without first getting approval from management at the headquarters and we were instructed by local management from doing anything until they finalized what was required from us. It appears to me to be a Catch 22 game! 1 believe we (your Firm and ours) should not fall in the game of passing the ball to someone else before getting a clear understanding of what is going on. We have had several meetings with local management where the issue has been raised and were responded that other priorities were established by the headquarters (on my end I thought they tell you everything they have been instructed of locally, unfortunately it does not seem to be the case). In my opinion it looks very easy that you accept from management at the headquarters to hold us accountable from something we are not responsible for, and this does not mean I do not understand the pressure you are receiving on your end. However, we are not the enemy. 1 am not sending copy of this message to our client because I believe that internal issues have to be
The objective of this report is to analyze the differences in Monsanto’s experiences in the United States and Europe and the reasons of opposition in Europe, despite that, why Monsanto pushed ahead so hard.
If a new entrant came into the market that were able to utilize a lower cost strategy as well as learn from Monsanto’s mistakes and keep a clean record, they could potentially take market share away from Monsanto. This is mentioned briefly in terms of Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., but additional information would be necessary to make a decision. Also, no information is made on Monsanto’s advertising or marketing efforts. They might not need to market products in the traditional consumer marketing sense, but an advertising campaign aimed at reestablishing corporate image could be very advantageous.
Monsanto is a sustainable agriculture company, they deliver their agricultural products that support farmers all over the world.
