I would also change the second sentence in the purpose of position to, Care given is expected to be of the highest standard but is not expected to include tasks that would normally be carried out by a qualified nurse 3. I would not repeat myself in point 8 because assisting residents with eating is mentioned already in point 3 4. I would take out emergency bells in point 9 and replace it with nurse call as not all the calls are an emergency some are for assistance or even just to ask for a cup of tea 5. In point 10 it says to read and write reports, I would change this to understand and follow care plans as I have worked with staff members who were not able to read adequately, so care plans and updates were read to them and any new information given to them in handover. These people where still able to do the job at hand to a high standard 6. In point 12 I would add procedures to go along with guidelines and policies As you can see our job description is not too long and there are no lengthy details included we find that this is more appropriate and we do not need to change the job description as often. Ask the individual about their life, and what they used to work as etc, if they are able to tell you all of this, then you will learn a great deal about them and this will help you to offer support to them in the most appropriate ways.
