Motion perception in autism has been investigated extensity, particularly in the last few years; however, the causes of impairment in detecting coherent motion are not fully understood. One important observation in the recent research, which conducted to assess the motion perception in patient with autism, is that the impaired motion detection is not necessary to occur in all patients with autism (Sanchez & Padila-Medina, 2007; Swettenham, Hansen & Ramus). These studies did not show any significant group difference between children with autism and controls, however, some children with autism showed elevated motion coherence thresholds whereas others performed well like the control group. In addition, the impairment in motion detection occurs
People with autism often have difficulties with motor co-ordination and, if they are significantly affected in this way, may also be given a formal diagnosis of dyspraxia.

What Is It, What Does It Do, How Do We Help It, and Who has it?
In a research project monitoring the brain waves of a child observing a task and completing a task, it was found that the two sets of brain waves were almost identical. However, when testing an autistic child, it was found that two different sets of brain waves were created. This research suggests that autistic children have a lower number of mirror neurons, which would help explain their deficiency in social interaction, imitation, and empathy.
The Arc of Carroll County held their second annual Autism in Motion 5k on the morning of April 17th. Registration was at 7:30 and the race began at 8 on Kriders Church Road in Westminster. There was a 3.5 mile course along with a one mile fun run; there were almost 100 runners in attendance and more who came to show their support. Runners were greeted at the finish line with refreshments and music along with Kona Ice, who donated a portion of their proceeds to The Arc. The organization was able to raise approximately $4,000, all of which went to the went to the Autism in Motion program, according to Britt Burr, the Assistant Director of Autism Services at The Arc. The Arc of Carroll County has been helping members of our community for over 60 years, and is one of the first autism based programs in our county. They are a non-profit
Perception refers to the process of taking in, organizing, and interpreting sensory data. Perception is multimodal, with multiple sensory inputs contributing to motor responses (Bertenthal 1996). In this paper, I will discuss the many differences between people with autism and the people without and how each person reacts to the same stimuli differently. I will focus on a teenage boy named Brandon, who has Autism, the parents have known that he had ASD since he was 16 months of age where they entered him into early intervention. Each person focuses differently on the perception of each thing in the world, but when you add a person with autism into the mix everything changes completely. When it comes to perception I believe that top-down processing is going to be the focus of this paper since, it has a lot to do with perception, that perception may start with the brain this includes a person’s knowledge, experience, and expectation.
Imagine not picking up on social rules and cues, even as your peers are progressing rapidly. The way they act and speak to each other appears magical to you. Imagine having some days where you can hear but can’t understand what words are being said. Imagine being overwhelmed by every movement, noise, and smell one day, while craving that same stimulation the next day. Imagine having an extraordinary ability to see detail no one else can. Imagine finding divine pleasure in every little thing having to do with your favorite interests. What you’re imagining are just some of the experiences I live with day-to-day. I do have a disability but it also gives me unique abilities. Autism is a neurological and developmental disorder, affecting the entire brain structure and activity; though, I will mostly be discussing the physical consequences of this condition. The type of Autism I have is called Asperger’s Syndrome, but this is not my official diagnosis since the DSM now utilizes the umbrella-term Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Autism a disability,it starts from a young age, Autism,it is also called or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. Autism is a developmental disability that appears in children during their first three years of life. Autism affects the development of social and communication skills. Autism is a developmental disability that appears in children during their first three years of life. Autism affects the development of social and communication skills. From a very early age, children with autism demonstrate a fundamental difficulty in properly orienting towards other people
Autism is now becoming a more increasing common disorder that appears before the age of 36 months. There is still no known cause or cure for autism and vaccines have been a great source of controversy as a possible vaccine-autism link. Five decades of research now give parents a wider range of treatments to choose from. Autistic children grow up in their own world, unware of the world around them (Ruffman, Garnham, & Rudeiyt, 2001). There have been numerous studies on teaching social skills techniques to autistic children. Absence of their social skills start to show at infancy and the most notable is their inability to relate to people. Difficultly relating socially to other people is a hallmark of autism (Ozonoff & Miller, 1995). Students with autism exhibit a multitude of asocial and antisocial characteristic says Kamps (1995).
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a condition that manifests in children through impaired language, speech, impaired social skills and abnormal patterns in individual interest and behavior and activities (Gavalas, Christina, Toron, & Marjorie, n.d., p. 32). Children with ASD in most cases involve in unusual behaviors such as rocking, flapping of arms and maneuvering of objects. Such children engage in harmful and injurious personal behaviors ranging from medium to severe. Sometimes such children are always aggressive and move around aimlessly in an attempt to balance sensory inputs in the body (Leew, Stein, & Gibbard, 2010, p. 36).
Of the various symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), social deficits are among the most salient. Individuals on the autism spectrum are usually impaired in social skills such as maintaining eye contact or initiating conversations (c.f. Levy, 2007). Although ASD may be comorbid with intellectual disability, some high-functioning individuals with ASD exhibit characteristic social impairments while possessing typical intelligence. However, high-functioning autistic individuals tend to rely more on lower-level neural networks than typical controls do when completing the same cognitive task (Koshino et al., 2004; Liu et al., 2011). Autistic individuals also display lower functional connectivity between anterior and posterior
The video talks about the fact of autism. It describes some processes that shows what can be done while and before pregnancy. It also shoes some percentages where it shows the chances of a mother when being pregnant has in having a child with autism. It also shows the importance of eating folic acid these is a great way to preventing on having a kid with autism. The purpose of this video is to inform you and explain you the whey the kids get autism and how to prevent it. Not everyone that does this things have a normal kid it could just pass and get a kid it autism or with any down syndrome. It informs the viewers of all the different procedures and all the different steps that can be done if you would like to have a healthy child. The intended
The research utilizing Electrophysiological studies of face processing in autism consists of two main forms of Electrophysiological instruments involved in facial processing electroencephalogram (EEG) and event-related potential (ERP). Typically, children between ages three and four years old exhibit differentiating
The synesthesia is a neurodevelopmental condition is that one kind of stimulation evokes the feeling of another, such as hearing of a sound produces the visualization of a color. According to the research article, the synesthesia occurs in 4% of the population while in autism spectrum condition it occurs. Autisms is usually diagnosed in children between the age of 2 or 3 years old and the main features of the autisms that are social interaction difficulties, verbal and nonverbal communication problems, engage in repetitive behaviors. Additionally, sometimes in autism's, there could be some physical health problems such as mental retardation, movement coordination difficulty problems. However, in some individuals with autistic spectrum impairment
Autism have been recognized as in existence since the 1940s but only in recent years it has been recognised under the standardized psychiatric diagnostic classification schemes. It is not unusual for people with ASD to be at risk of displaying challenging behaviours which could lead to offending behaviours, however, on the other hand they can also be at lower risk as they find rules helpful in surviving in the social world. This paper will look at what is ASD, studies on ASD individuals and offending behaviours, explanations on the outcomes of the studies and conclusion on these findings.
