In film culture, many production companies stand out because of the impact and success of their films. But, there is one studio that stands out with the elite producers because of how their films can make an impact, both in the industry itself as well as culturally – Pixar Animation Studios. Pixar has not only changed the industry of computer animation, but it was one of its pioneers. The studio was able to create a formula of success once it founds its ways in the industry, but also was able to figure out how to improve their films each step of the way. Over the studio’s lifetime, Pixar has been able to change and improve their techniques in films to continue their success in films. Prior to Pixar, there was never a full computer-animated feature film. In 1995, Pixar introduced itself to the film industry in a big way. The first film the studio created was Toy Story, which set the tone for how the studio would create the foundation of their techniques in movies. Pixar is a company that has ties to other major corporations in our American culture. Pixar Animation Studios started as a part of the Lucas film computer group, which is owned by George Lucas the creator of Star Wars. However, after receiving funding from Steve Jobs the division became its own corporation in 1986. After that Disney purchased Pixar, which allowed Steve Jobs to become a shareholder in Disney also. In a world where technology is rapidly developing and evolving, it is sometimes hard to keep up with the changes that are made.
