When I have access to technology I typically use it for school work, personal research, and connecting to others. In school I practice coding with programs such as Python and C++, I also use the internet for exploring different topics of computer science, like looking up new Linux commands, finding a new algorithm to try, or discovering a different operator to use. While at home I practice my coding work by finding new projects to try, like building a website, or making a binary conversion program. By practicing outside of school I improve problem solving skills and can discover faster and more efficient ways of programming. McAllen school district in Texas recently spent twenty million dollars on I-pads and I-pods for students. The funding for the school district is coming from a combination of local funds, federal grants, and stimulus money. The schools in that area are considered some of the poorest in the nation(Ryan Holeywell). In schools around the world the students are starting to use technology in the classroom such as I-Pads, I-Phones, and other types of devices. Technology has changed Students day to day life, it has modified how and what students are taught negatively and positively.
There were times in elementary school when teachers had to pick me up from my chair to give another student a chance to use the school computer. When I first laid eyes on a computer I was amazed at all the things that it could accomplish but I never really delved the aspects of it. This changed when I took my AP Computer Science course during my junior year, taking the class helped develop my passion for the computer. Taking this course helped me to explore other areas of the computer that I didn’t know existed, because I wanted to learn more about the world of computers I decided to join the cyber security team and the robotics team at my school. Is technology hurting or helping in middle school classrooms? Over the past few years there has been a huge debate on technology helping vs. hurting in the classroom. I decided to experience for myself how it is used and if it is making learning easier.
Many schools across the United States uses technology in some form of way. Technology resources and technology plan are most of the time managed by a team of professional who work together for long periods of times. Majority of the time spent is used to develop technology plan that can range from 50 pages to 38 pages. The page length depends on how in depth the team goes to explain their Technology Plan. Theses plans can take up to a year or two to develop . With this being said currently my job is at Chesterfield County Public School.
Today everyone is using technology no matter how old they are. Ever since technology came out, it has been stapled to our lives forever. Today, a toddler of 12 months of age is spending hours using technology. There are lots of controversies whether technology is good or bad for our children. Many say technology can affect our children social skills, while others state that technology benefits our children because technology can be a resourceful way of helping children learn a variety of skills. It is hard to decide whether is good or bad to exposed our children to technology. What many people should realize, is that our children can use technology but to a certain extent.
First and foremost, ever since I was younger I have always loved to play on computers. In my elementary school, we were always learning and working with computers. This really helped me learn how to work with computers and other related technology. Also, having the ability to know how to work a computer/laptop makes college easier for me. Most of my school work is turned in electronically and I have some online classes. I use my laptop in all my classes from receiving information to sending it to my classmates.
In the 21st century, students must be adept in new literacies and technology. Teachers, educators, and parents have a responsibility to teach students the skills they need to become proficient in these areas. Therefore, educators should find engaging ways to incorporate the use of technology into the curriculum. Parents are also mentioned because outside of the classroom, they have an obligation and responsibility to interact and observe how technology is being used.

In Doulos, technology is rarely used and the old fashioned way of learning is enforced; handwritten notes and lectures. The computer lab is often over booked and students are unable to use computers when needed. Doulos not being a technology based school has many negative effects on students who are planning to attend college.
Education in schools is much more than just memorizing facts and passing tests; the concept resides much, much deeper than that. Education shows students how to have fun with studies and, more importantly, how to apply them in real life. Technology, although many think it destructive in every possible way, is in fact helping students grow and learn in a more interactive environment. Predominantly, technology in schools is crucial to helping students eventually. When applying for a job, knowledge in up-to-date technology will be a vital part of being a welcomed and valued employee. A vast majority of occupations now require a basic understanding of how computers work (quintcareers). Employers are always on the hunt for such qualities despite the many that disagree. Only the cultivation of technology with students in school will prepare adolescents for life as an adult in the workforce.
As a freshman it amazed me as I sat in the position you all are sitting in and looked up at an individual who had the courage stand up here and give a ten minute speech in front of all these people. Since the first speech I saw I hoped that by the time it was my senior year I would be able to have the courage to do the same exact thing. Although as I am up here I really question as to whether I gained the courage or I had to force myself to do this, trying not to picture myself trip up the steps as I got on this stage. Throughout my four years here I planned myself to be on the right path to be able to become a distinguished graduate. I took all the classes required, maintained a decent GPA, and placed myself in almost every AP possible and have been lucky enough to pass their tests along the way. However, not one bit of this was done with ease, but nevertheless here I am.
Creating accounts on nearly every social media platform, and learning my way around basically every feature of my computer and phone. To me, it is amazing how much we can accomplish now a days with the use of a technology. It is such an efficient use of communication and organization, making it a perfect fit for my lifestyle. Every since I was in about eighth grade I have been developing a stronger passion and knowledge for advanced technology. Through teaching myself how to make powerpoints, so I could convince my family to get a dog, or learning how to edit photos using photoshop, so I could convince my friends I had met Justin Bieber, I have fostered a fascination for technology. Although my skills have since developed from editing myself onto pictures with Justin Bieber, I still find myself combining my inner creativity with the vast amount of applications available through technology. For example, this past summer I took a family vacation to Saint Lucia. Well I was hiking through vegetated mountains and snorkeling amongst crystal clear water, I could be found capturing every moment through pictures and video. I then turned those memory packed pieces of footage into a brief montage video of our trip. Although this was just a side project, I found myself constantly pouring my energy into putting the right music with the right video clips and making sure they transitioned at just the right time. Or using ultrasounds to get a glimpse of a baby while he is still in his mom’s belly. Or as simple as finding a restaurant with excellent cocktails and atmosphere, there’s an app for that. But is technology really the savior for all life’s woes? Certainly there are problems that technology can’t be the go to solution for and as poverty in schools is one that is too big for technology to tackle on its own. In Burlington high school the student gives one on one technology to use for school while there are many benefits to it such as step into the real world, homework and research help, but there are many people that are concerned about the use of technology in high school as it can easily lead to distractions and drop in grades. Technology has the power to influence many people in the world but when it comes to school it can be a double-edged sword as there are many aspects of it that are really useful and harmful to the students. The purpose of technology in school is to teach kids new information. But one on one technology can be a distraction. It can also cause a student to be distracted during class when the teacher is teaching something new.
