My dream is always so clear to me what I wanted to do in my life. I wanted to help people, and my first instinct was to become a nurse. Although, I love science and great at anatomy, I found myself lost in a crowded room where I don’t belong. Our society put pressure on what age we should do things and if you didn’t you’re fail at life. For a while , I think I was in denied that nursing wasn’t for me and I might have to quit nursing . As much as I loved science it wasn’t something I was passionate about and from that point I knew nursing was not right for me. I struggled for a year to figure out what I wanted to do. I didn’t want to keep wasting time and money to go school. I took a year off to figure out what to do the rest of my life. During this time, I was picked for grand jury duty, it lasted about 6 weeks during spring 2016. To be honest I was excited because I want to experience something different. I heard many different cases throughout the week. I learn how Justice and legal system works. I learned some of the legal terms and it definitely interesting to learn new things and experiences. I didn’t realize at that point that I wanted to become a paralegal but I knew I want to learn more about laws. After long research of what career, I should do paralegal came up in CCRI catalogue.
My personal strengths are open-minded, patience, honesty, communication, problem solving, persistence, independent, planning and organization. My weaknesses are not able to accept the
From a very early age I have had a passion and drive to help people. I was first inspired to go in to a nursing career by my grandmother who would tell me stories about her experiences as a midwife. One that stood out to me was when she travelled through a snowstorm to deliver a baby, and it is this level of commitment, care and compassion that I aspire to have. I have also found inspiration from my mum who is an ICU nurse and has always shared her experience and advice with me. This has been something that has resonated with me throughout my life and has always served as an inspiration.
During my term in school I have often thought about what department of nursing I would like to go into, but I did not put too much thought into the steps it would take to become a nurse in Illinois. I have been so focused on being a mom of four, going through nursing school and keeping my job (not in medical) of eleven years that I haven’t had a real mental opportunity to consider how I will retain a holistic life balance, which stressors or challenges I may face, how I will continue to learn throughout my life as a nurse, nor what type of contributions I can make as a professional nurse. Through researching these questions, I have learned a lot about, the process and myself.
In your nursing career or personal life, have you volunteered your services? If so, please describe the facility and your experience. If not, why?
I am an Registered Nurse with over twenty years of experience in the medical field. I am now 42 years old. I have enjoyed every moment of my nursing career. I have traveled and learned a great deal from my experiences as a nurse. The past seven years I have been a nurse manager in a smaller institution, which has allowed me the opportunity of serving several additional job duties to increase my overall business skills. I would benefit greatly from a business degree and learning the financial aspect of the business. Most recently , I have taken the additional role of purchasing for my surgery center. I previously also did payroll. With a business degree, I could continue to advance my career in administration as well as open the possibility of opening my own
name is Linda Herron and I prefer Linda. I live in Delmar, NY and have been working as a nurse for 24 years. My career began on a medical surgical/telemetry floor, but I have also worked in home care, a skilled nursing facility and at home specializing in workers’ compensation cases. Currently, I work for an insurance company as a telephonic case manager and was recently promoted to a supervisory role. At this time, I am unsure what my professional interests are. My hope is that pursuing my bachelor’s degree, will broaden my interests and help me discover opportunities to further my career.
Everyone desires to be remembered when they are gone and am no exception. I would love special memories of me to linger in the minds and hearts of those I got to interact with during my lifetime. I have always considered myself as someone so full of life and outgoing and would want to be remembered by family and friends as the kindest soul, a symbol of true kindness and love. My mother always taught me the virtue of kindness from a tender age and that it was the most priceless gift one could offer. Attending to my patients at the hospital and seeing them get well has always brought joy and peace to my heart. I would want my community to remember me as a symbol of love and to always spread that love by showing acts of kindness to the less fortunate. My nursing career has impacted heavily in the person I have become.
I was always undecided regarding the career that I wanted to pursue. As I got older and looked at many choices in careers I realized that I wanted to have a career in the medical field. Being a nurse interests me because it requires the study of the human body along with other great opportunities that nurses have in this career. I want to become a nurse because I like being able to help those who are in need.
I want to be a nurse because I want to help people that are hurt sick or could die. I also want to be a nurse because it seems like a good job and not for the money either my mom was a nurse and i want to be like her because she is a good person and I respect her and I also would like to be a nurse because I could help lots of people and I could meet new people everyday.
When I got accepted into Minnesota state University, Mankato. I decided to major as a pre-nursing student because I thought it would be the best way to get into the medical field. I did not know anything about the nursing program until I actually took courses that needed to reach our goal areas and hear stories from older colleagues. I liked the idea of becoming a nurse one day, but as I got another taste of different professions around me. I became indecisive as to what I like to do and what I wanted to do. As I’m ending my first semester, I’ve to push myself to view my life in the next four years and what I want to do with it. My progress now is not fit for the nursing program and I’m leaning towards something where I can use my degree right
I chose to enter a career in nursing as I spent a lot of my younger years around my grandparents. In particular, I had a very special bond with my grandfather, who was like a father to me. Every chance I had, I would stay with him on the weekends as he would take me fishing and from that I have some pretty amazing memories.
I have chosen nursing as my career path because there are numerous of opportunities to help make a difference in many people’s lives. It is a great part of the medical field that allows you to be the best part of you. I have a natural sense of care and always assuring that others are safe before myself.
There have been many occasions during my life where I have spent hours sitting at a hospital bedside. My brother battled cancer through out his life as my family and I sat with him giving him words of encouragement. The nurses who cared for him consistently drew my appreciation and admiration. I believe there are few truly inspiring professions and nursing is indisputably one of them. In conjunction with doctors and medical staff, nurses provide a valuable service to society. Being a nurse has long been an aspiration of mine.
My ideas of who I wanted to become has not changed but the career path wise has change.I am slowing finding out what kind of person I am and if who I am fits with who I want to become.
When choosing where I wanted to go to college and what career path I would take nursing was the obvious choice, and Ole Miss was the even more blatantly obvious choice considering the nursing program at UMMC. My father is a nurse, so I have always grown up looking up to him and his ability to provide for our family with RN behind his name. He says he only has one regret in being a nurse: not furthering his education. With that being said, these next few semesters are only the beginning of my educational path in nursing as I hope to progress to become a nurse anesthetist in the future.
The strengths I have: being efficient and organize. I have to have everything a particular manner before I write, perform, or do almost any jobs. Occasionally this can cost me lots of time. The weaknesses that I have are a perfectionist and impatient at times. I was used to working at a substantially faster rate than those around me. Sharing information and interacting with others is when I learn best. Understanding my weaknesses assists me to plan methods to conquer them when I am doing tasks and socializing with others. I must be kinder to myself and less strict about matters being merely so. I also need to be more delicate and comprehensible of others who tend not to take up my perfectionist styles. I also should be patient with people who take longer time to work. Since I have got a tendency to delay works when I do not feel like doing anything, I, therefore, need to create a regular schedule with integrated rewards and times for learning and acquiring assignments done.
