I tell them daily about the value of education. Education is something that no-one can take away. I have desired to continue my education for a long time, but chose instead to devote any extra attention and time to my children. The last of the four children will be starting school next week. I believe that all of my children would also benefit from my completion of my next degree. I would be better able to teach them. I also watched my mother start college when she was forty. She obtained her master's degree in Library Science. Five years ago, I sacrificed as my husband went back to school and obtained his master's degree as a Physician Assistant. This greatly affected our family's daily life. The children had also sacrificed. They now see the benefits of all his hard work. I believe that life is about growth and I am ready to grow. My husband and I have also talked extensively about our future. We would love to open our on business and be able to pass it along to our children. A business degree would give me the knowledge to expedite the process of starting a new business. I would love to share with my children all of the business skills and how to responsibly deal with

Upon completion of my bachelor’s degree program, I will try to seek employment with my hospital human resources department as a generalist. I currently work with staffing and with a bachelor’s degree in management; I believe I would be ready to move up to a higher level. The transition from staffing to human resources I believe would be smooth, because I am familiar with the hiring process and I am also knowledgeable with dealing with outside staffing agencies.

Since I was in grade school I always had a dream of going to college and becoming a doctor. I pushed myself to maintain an “A average” and continued to be involved in sports and school activities. Both my personal and professional lifetime goals in life are to provide and offer true love and compassion for humanity. With my goal of obtaining a nursing degree is extremely important to me as it would allow me the opportunity to fulfill my career goals and desires.

Expanding my horizon wherever possible is the objective and that is apparent in continuing knowledge through college. However, there is not an importance on the location seeing that acquiring and developing practice as well as exposure has more importance. Regardless, if I am presented with an opportunity to explore my career path in a respected facility I will not pass up the occasion. I believe that I am prepared to face the challenges and demands of the nursing program at Sumner College. Nursing programs are intensive and demanding which require a lot of study time and good study skills, both of which I have. Nursing is my passion, so classes and clinicals will be a pleasure for me. I’m determined to do the very best that I can to meet and exceed the goals that I and Sumner College has set forth to be an RN student.

At its beginning, nurses were not respected until the mother of nursing, Florence Nightingale helped revolutionize the world of nursing and create a standard for the highly regarded profession for what it is known as today. The nursing profession has shown its incredible ability to adapt to changes, especially in healthcare needs. When I think about myself as a nurse, I see traits in myself that exemplify the sheer standard expected of a nurse. A nurse must be resilient, flexible, graceful in stressful situations, determined to provide the best care for the well-being of any patient regardless of personal biases, and ultimately, compassion. One of the reasons I chose to pursue a lifetime career in nursing is that there are many places this career can take me. I know I will learn more in the field than I ever could sitting behind a desk. Nurses care to change the lives of their patients, community, and even the world. I believe nursing encompasses the best qualities of a person and gives any ordinary person the chance of being extraordinary.
Without thinking, nursing is what I have always known I would pursue as a career. This is not me employing platitudes to convey my connate aspiration to be a healthcare professional — it is simply the truth. My determination to become a nurse is unrelenting: even after my tumultuous adolescent years, and a brief flirtation with pursuing a career in journalism, I am undeterred.
The desire to study Adult Nursing has stemmed from watching various nurses care for my sister during her time at the Intensive Care Unit at Leeds General Infirmary. This has demonstrated that nurses are the heart of patient care, with their drive and passion for what they do making a real difference to our lives. Having witnessed this first-hand, I was drawn towards pursuing a career in healthcare to care for those who need caring for. Consequently, I am currently completing my extended diploma in Health and Social Care aiming for a grade of D*D*D.
As a senior in high school, if I was asked what my plans were for the future, I would have had a definite answer. I wanted to attend Indiana University Bloomington and major in Nursing to eventually become a nurse practitioner. I truly thought that was what I wanted to do with my life. If I were told that I would be attending Hanover and no longer had any interest in nursing as a career, I would probably laugh. I was so sure that was what I wanted to do, but since then all my plans have changed. This first semester at Hanover has taught me that I had no idea what I wanted to do, but I now have more of an idea of where to go and what to do at this point in my college career.
Thinking about my career after I graduate high school is very stressful, but in the past week and a half I think I have decided that I would like to do nursing. The thing that made me become interested in nursing is that I want to help people, I like the blood and I feel like the sicker they are the better for me because I can help get them better and stronger. I want to do something in my life where I feel like I am making a difference, I want the rush of adrenaline when saving someone's life. Realizing that nursing is really what I would love to do is because my dad went in for open heart surgery last Monday on October 1st. He had a triple bypass surgery to help remove the blockage in his heart for future complications. The surgeon said “the surgery went amazing, it was all by the book it was a textbook procedure.” Tuesday, October 2nd. My dad had a heart attack, although he was not aware of it, he kept saying that he was in pain because of the incision, the nurse Ian ordered an Electrocardiogram (EKG) to see if any blockage was in the heart and to see if he in fact was having a heart attack. Once the EKG was done, they found two blood clots in the graphs that they bypassed, they then had to put in four stints back through the main arteries. When all of this was completed, they took him back to the intensive care unit (ICU), the following two days, Wednesday and Thursday, he was doing amazing, he was eating, he was very alert, and healing well. Thursday night the
