As a future educator, I will definitely use tons of technology in my classroom! Technology is growing so rapidly, and it important to make sure students are comfortable using it. For students to be successful outside of school, they need to know how to use technology and communicate effectively online. It is very important to me that I continue to learn more about educational technology tools, so I can incorporate current technologies in my classroom. Continually learning about new technologies is a great way to engage in personal growth. I have learned so much in this class alone about educational technologies from this class alone, and I know there is still so much out there for me to learn about. This course has given me tons of ideas for different tools I will employ in my classroom. BrainPop is an awesome tool, I love that it is filled with educational games but it also gives the teachers lesson plans to incorporate it into your state educational standards. Educreations is another tool that I will be using in my future classroom. I think it would be great for older students to create their own mini lessons on a tablet to share with the class. I also really enjoyed Socrative. This was a great online tool for administering quizzes online. Being able to watch how …show more content…
I want my students to feel comfortable interacting with different tech devices. I would love them to not only have access to computers, but tablets, smart boards, etc. Technology is a great way for students to get creative, when it comes to education. Online apps that we have used in this course like the storytelling applications are a great way for students to get creative and come up with stories to tell on their own. Also, giving students the ability to 3D print characters from their stories is a way to get students thinking creatively, and more interested in storytelling. This is a tool I hope as an educator I will get to use with my
In this article it explains that flipping the classroom is where the students prepare for the lesson before class then receive feedback on the lesson. That would give the students time to ask questions. Besides a flipped classroom this article talks a bout the inverted classroom and peer instruction. The students complete worksheets and get to ask questions during class the worksheets are then chosen, at random, to be taken for a grade. Peer instruction is a new technological way for students to interact with each other. The students receive clickers that will anonymously show the answer to the questions, and then in small groups they will discuss the questions. All of these methods tend to work, but according to the article the peer instruction has the best effect on students because they are discussing with their peers.
For learning lab I have an A+. This is one of my best classes because I do all the work needed to be done in this class. In order to keep doing well I'll keep doing my work in class. Sometimes I get distracted in this class because of certain people who are really annoying to me and I get upset and I can't focus on my work. However, I also distract myself because I talk to friends in class.
During my day, I go to the classes that I always go. As usual, I stay silent and I do my work. Unlike the other classmates who usually talk constantly, I stay quiet. Some of my classmates find it weird that I don't talk much. In one of my honors classes, I feel like a misfit because I feel like I don't fit in with the others. They find me mysterious, almost like a freak. When I disagree with their ideas, I don't say anything because they'll think I'm the bad guy.
At John Jay, I Yelisa Luna failed below my GPA standard being that it was my first semester there and a change from whereas I was familiar to Bmcc, being comfortable and knowledgeable on the campus area. Despite the fact I enrolled in four classes, I was excited and a little nerve wracking. I took two classes online and two in person. All the professors were good but I failed short in two of the in person classes. My examination stills wasn't what I thought it would be when I had studied. My CRJ: Police and Diversity became a stressful class due to his first teaching the new topic for the first time, however the professor had stated to bear with the power points because there was plenty of information to take in. I passed the quizzes and almost passed the midterm, but the final was very hard without any view sheets given, not unlike to Bmcc professors who would give or point out what to study for and not just reading everything from chapter 1-14 for the final. Others felt that this class was also stressful on the technique it was being transferred to us most failed as well. I was given a D+ which is low for what I though I would be getting but very understanding of the
Integrating technology in every day teaching is a great necessity in this 21st century, but at the same time it is a great challenge for educators with the advent of numerous technologies almost every day. My goal for this project, as an intern, will be to assess and evaluate various technological tools used by teachers across the building and training them on research based strategies that play a vital role in making learning more meaningful and
Teachers can use technology to teach various subjects and to find out more information on how to present a topic in a new and exciting way. Teachers can also allow students to use technology to broaden their learning experiences tremendously.
Every moment in my life has impacted me and shown me how I should run my classroom. Spending many years struggling in school, no one helping me or trying to figure out what is best for me to get the best education I can showed me what I do not want for my students. This struggle has shown me that every student is different and has a different way of learning. This allows me to learn my students strengths and weaknesses and play on them to help them receive the education they deserve and succeed. Being exposed to so many different people and cultures through travel and attending an international school has allowed me to see how other people live and work and given me insight to other cultures and how to be sensitive to their culture and traditions
There are several factors that influenced my planning and teaching when creating this lesson segment for my fourth grade class. There are several factors that I had to consider about my students by knowing what they are capable of doing and not able to do. In order to consider the academic development of my students I had to take these factors into consideration: out of the 26 students in the class, seven students are English language learners, seven proficient English speakers, and six redesignated English Speakers The majority of these students come from Spanish speaking homes and are reading below grade level. Given the information I have about my students, my choices of instructional strategies, materials, and the sequences of the learning tasks reflect the student’s backgrounds, interests, and needs in various ways. Taking all of these factors
Throughout my high school years I have chosen classes that challenge me that are graduation requirements and that
Many students are exposed to technology early in life. Many of them have computers, tablets, game systems, and smartphones available for use. Children as young as two (2) years old can be found playing games on a parent’s phone. Therefore, it stands to reason that technology would be introduced in the classroom.
As a Johnston Early College Academy student, I have taken college level classes since my freshman year of high school. These classes have been both seated and online, requiring me to develop good time management and organizational skills. My classes have also involved numerous group projects, which have helped prepare me for collaboration with people of all ages and different backgrounds. Being in classes with people of different age levels and diverse ethnicities has helped me develop the people skills necessary to be successful inside and outside the classroom. These skills will help ensure a positive learning outcome as I transition to a four-year college.
On the first day of class you had mentioned that this would be one of the hardest classes a student would take at the highschool level, and if you were not ready for this class you should leave, and talk to Mrs. Hartmen. This scared me and some students actually did leave, but I can say I am glad I was not one of them. This class was hard for me, being that I am more of a creative writer and find it easier to make things up, then to write a story on an event that actually happened, or write a research paper.
Technology allows for an alternative way for our children to learn and its becoming more popular each year. Teachers are now replacing text books with tablets and laptops. The kids of today’s society are getting pulled into the virtual world while they are slowly drifting away from the real world.
Through this summer class, I actually learned a lot about writing. I am getting better at searching the academic sources and use them properly in my essay. As an international student, this class definitely help my English skills a lot. This class requires a lot reading, however, I can feel that I can read a lot faster than before. At the beginning of the course, I had a really hard time to even finish one assignment. But now, I am getting a lot better. I think the reason of this is Dr. Posey can always pick some topics that I am interested in. I enjoy reading the materials and the book. I believe still have a lot of things need to be improved, but this class make me become more confident for my future English learning. The assignments in the
What are some of your personal thoughts on technology use in schools? Well, if you ask me, I, believe we should take it a step further and encourage it even more in classrooms. Now, I know you may be thinking to yourself “ Why would we ever do that?” or, “Technology is too expensive and causes too many distractions”, Yes these points are very true no doubt about it but allow me to make key points about the subject.
