2) Tell us more about yourself. What would you like the admissions office to know about you? I would like the admissions office to know a few things about me. One is that I am a good student. Throughout middle school I have been in the honors math course meaning that I took algebra one in seventh grade and geometry in eighth grade. I think that this has really taught me to be a better student. If I didn't know something or was a little behind I learned to take the initiative and ask a teacher for help or ask what chapter to review. I think that I have taken this concept and applied it to other classes and because of this I am able to learn a lot. As well as doing well in school I am also very active with extra curricular activities. I
This forced me analyze my life thus far, to recognize my fears and what I hold dear. It’s only been sixteen (one month till seventeen) years in this carcass, but I already feel like an entire life has flown by. It was like a prerequisite of actually watching my life flash before my eyes. This project was nice to sit back and look at what a social mess I am (one of my most favorite pastimes). But also, only being sixteen, I don’t hold what many would believe to be true values, dreams, fears, and identity. Nevertheless, this is what I have so far.
I am not a traditional student applying for a chance to study at your college. I am not here right after graduation from high school nor am I trying to change careers. I am here to begin a career after more than 15 years out of high school, with life experiences in a country that has become my home, half way across the world from where I started my journey.
Thank you for your interest in the University of West Alabama! Your hard work during high school has prepared you to be successful in college. Finding your perfect school is a process that cannot be completed over night. The first step in the admissions process is to submit your admissions applicant and learn the acceptance requirements. Each school has different requirements, so make sure to make note of the ACT/ SAT and high school GPA baseline.
I grew up around Pittsburgh and my dad worked in the steel mills. Our mother left when I was two. Something about "finding herself". Or at least that's what my dad said. He raised me and my siblings by himself. Our oldest sister got us ready for school in the mornings: breakfast, lunches, bus stops. We moved around quite a bit and it left me with a deep sense of insecurity. Where will we be next year ? Will I have to say goodbye to my friends? We never lacked for the essentials but we weren't rolling in dough either. We had just enough.
The cold night’s air is thin as it vigorously enters and exits my airways. The pasture’s foggy engulfed darkness hinders my vision. Fortunately my auditory senses are unaffected by the sun’s absence. I close my eyes; listening in hopes of hearing something. I pause, hanging on a second longer wishing that this breathless moment would be the moment. Nothing. I try again and this time without hesitation an astronomical explosion of light penetrates my eyelids. My eyes shoot open as my jaw hits the floor, as if poorly stitched together by an inexperienced mortician. Some sort of space-age looking capsule had shot down from the sky and landed onto my lawn. The object glistens with pathway forming light. Steel-gray in color and pod shaped with a circular window on its face. It calls to me. Some fifth dimensional force draws me to it. I hesitate but my curiosity apatite’s a desire for answers.
From one of the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, to one of the greatest pop stars to ever take the stage, to one of the greatest actors to ever grace the screen, to the most decorated Olympian ever the University of Michigan has not only a long history but a pedigree of producing men and women that are nothing short of excellent. My personal goal is to be nothing short of excellent. I believe that UM is the best university at taking raw talent and transforming it into pure greatness. The writing department of UM is no exception. When searching for potential universities, UM stuck out due to its impeccable track record of rigor and professor availability. I am not simply looking for just any old college but rather one where I am stretched
Additionally, I am very active in my school clubs, sports, and my community outside the classroom,
The future is always something many fear, and more so than others at different milestones of life. An example of this is when it comes time for college admissions. Students around the world begin to question their worth through scores and grades. Is this how we want the future of America to be based off of, rather than the content of someone’s character? Test scores and grades aren’t truly accurate to accept someone into a college because test scores can be inaccurate due to digital systems and databases, humans express themselves in actions, not numbers, and grades are more so a scale of compliance.
Aside from my respectable grades, I am overflowing with wonder and an excited spirit to participate in many extracurriculars. My course load did not hinder me from participating in sports, for I am looking to participate on the tennis team for my fourth year this fall. I am also a National Honor Society member, and I am the vice president of the Environmental Club. I have been a member of Mathletes, third place medal winner of Science Olympiads, Multi-Cultural Club, Reading Olympics, Community Service Club, JSA, Model UN, and Kick Butt Generation. Outside of

My struggles with self-confidence began at an early age. Usually, People perceived me as the quiet, unobtrusive person in my close group of peers. Even in my family, I am apt to be more reserved than my parents and siblings. While my older brother devoted hours to playing deafening video games and my sister spent time with her friends, I withdrew to my room to draw or read. Occasionally, my grandmother would forget I was even in the house. There have been numerous misunderstandings within the house that have contributed to my bashful nature. Several of the disagreements resulted in my mother and older siblings yelling and not listening to each other. Although I considered the discord a reason to recoil and be soft-spoken, I learned the valuable
Honestly, I would rate my application just past average. I’m not an all-star athlete, I’m not the new Monet, I’m not a valedictorian. I haven’t accomplished anything that would automatically would make you want to accept me. I haven’t overcome an extraordinary obstacle people can only imagine. I’m the average student, average cellist, average daughter, average sister.
In my quest for a position that would engage my knowledge and experience, I stumbled upon your post on Indeed.com for an Admission officer in which I felt obliged to submit my resume for consideration. As a recently graduated student who has been on both sides of the college admission process, I am confident in my abilities to be a great asset for Yale University Admissions.
My placement is at George Brown College (GBC), in the simulation center (sim lab) located at 51 Dockside Drive in Toronto. The college itself was established in 1967, while the Waterfront campus and sim lab opened in 2012. The college’s target population are the post-secondary students who attend the college; the sim lab’s target population are the students from a variety of different programs who engage in simulation. Since students are required to apply and enroll in order to attend GBC, this process is more similar to that of a ‘self-referral’ than opposed a ‘referral’ situation. The vision statement provided by the GBC website includes several mission statement and visions, including (1) being “inspired by a commitment to achievement through
