My Confirmation Saint

For my Confirmation I choose St.Marguerite Bourgeoys. Marguerite was born on April 17, 1620. Marguerite had survived many difficulties in the twenty-six years she had been in wilderness of Canada. She had survived the Iroquois attacks, a fire that destroyed her village, and plagues on the ships that she took back and forth to France, but nothing could stop her from achieving her dreams. The only thing that threatened her hopes and dreams more than anything else was what her own bishop told her in 1679. He had told her that she had to join her Congregation of Notre Dame with its teaching sisters to a religious order of Ursulines that stayed in one place and were close together. Her life story is interesting and many should know about how she came to be.

I chose to write about St. Elizabeth Ann Seton because I have always loved her very caring, loving, and kind spirit. I also, chose her because my middle name and confirmation name is Elizabeth and I have always felt a connection to her.

When I was told to choose a saint to be my patron saint for Confirmation, I thought the choice was obvious for me. It took me just a few moments and one quick touch to my neck to remember my patron saint, Saint Sebastian. I have a medal that I wear every time I leave the house with a picture of Saint Sebastian that says “Saint Sebastian Pray For Us.” I was given this medal when I was very young.

Her paintings expressed topics that where consider taboos in the 1930´s, for example, in her painting “Henry Ford Hospital” she expressed the physical and emotional pain a women haves to go through when it comes to the miscarriage of a child. She is inspiring to women because, she didn’t censored herself with art and the topics covered with it, this helped women understand themselves in higher level.

The sacrament of Confirmation is the single most important sacrament a young adult Catholic can receive. It is the sacrament where you fully affirm your beliefs and initiate yourself into the Catholic church. It is necessary to have a role model that will help guide you throughout your spiritual life and that person for me is Saint Francis of Assisi. I am inspired by his incredible connection to animals and hope to one day become a veterinarian. I chose him as my Confirmation saint because of who he was before and after God became present in his life.

For my Saint report, I chose Saint Veronica. Saint Veronica is known as the lady who offered a fabric to Jesus so he could wipe his face while in transit to his torturous killing. The material is accepted to exist today in the Vatican and is viewed as a standout amongst the most prized relics of the Congregation. Saint Veronica is not specified in the book of scriptures, but rather is known not by Catholic custom and in the 6th Station of the Cross, "Veronica Wipes the Substance of Jesus."

I chose St. Margaret as my patron saint because she gave a lot of time and money to the poor. She read the Bible daily, even though people (like her husband) didn’t have the same beliefs as her. She was focused on her faith and encouraged people in her life to live a devout life and grow in prayer and holiness. I admire that she barely slept every night and fasted often in order to spend more time worshipping the Lord. St. Margaret is someone who I will continue to admire even after my

Like her I find great joy in helping other in need. After reading how she fought to provide help for the mistreated laborers I was moved by her humanitarianism.

Upon seeing this and following miracles, many were in awe of Thecla. She was responsible for converting many women to a Christian belief by teaching the word of God.

For my saint and Confirmation name I chose Saint Anne. Saint Anne was a very holy woman and was the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the grandmother of Jesus Christ. Her name means grace and in Hebrew it also means Hannah.

I chose St. Angela Merici. St. Angela Merici is the patron saint of the disabled and physically challenged. I chose St. Angela Merici because she saw that girls were unable to get a proper academic education or an education in the Christian faith, and she then decided to help young girls get the education they needed. Education is very important to me just like it was important to St. Angela Merici. I was inspired by the way St. Angela Merici saw the problem of improper education and fixed it. She was also dedicated to prayer which I believe is an important quality.

Helen was designed to show the struggles of the many people who lived in such conditions that their greatest wish was to be in heaven. They had abandoned hope of improving their social class and rather sought to remain as faithful as possible. Helen’s quiet, almost angelic, piety was a symbol to those people of strength and sacrifice. Her death especially proved her strength as well as solidifying her connection to Maria. Helen, through the mix of these two things, became a combination of tragedy as well as victory, a memory of her sister and inspiration to all those like

Saints are always different from everyday people, thus no one understands them in their lives, only a lot of years after their death. Joan of Arc was a saint like this as well, she was too far ahead of her times and was killed by her fellow men, because they didn’t know what else to do. She was canonized in 1920, after 489 years of her death. In my opinion, she was not only a saint, but meant to be an angel and showed a good example to all of us, how to behave ourselves in the name of honour, honesty, and glory.
