My first experience in writing an essay was two years ago, I was practicing for the ILETS test. When i started writing, it was difficult and hard in the beginning and I didn't know how to start so I asked my sister to help me, because I faced a lot of difficulties, but I overcame them.
Moreover, my sister helped me to choose the title. Then I start writing my thoughts, advantages, disadvantages, I freewrite, brainstorm also I made a small research about the subject, after that I always organize my information in order to be easy and clear when I need it. Then I started writing the essay I tried to make it as easy as possible and it takes from me more than three days to finish the essay, when i finished the essay i read it over and over
My first step in the writing process has remained relatively the same. I begin by reading the assignment sheet, and then begin brainstorming topics that I could use for the essay. Usually I come up with two or three ideas for me to explore, in case one topic does not have enough information to turn into a good paper. After thinking of a few ideas, I pick one idea that I think is the best, and I try to come up with a basic outline of the paper. Then, I search on Google and read a few articles that I find to see what information is available on the topic and how I can use the information in my paper. It is at this point where I decide whether or not to go ahead with the topic depending on what I find. If I continue on, I widen my search to databases and focus on more credible internet
In high school I was not the best at writing. I did not find this out until I was places in advanced English. I was used to writing papers that had to be simple. So when I started receiving C’s and D’s I told myself something had to change. I finally realized that I could not write as well as most of my classmates. So, what I ended up doing was making my papers more complex and making my sentences stronger. When I applied myself I became a stronger writer. As I took the diagnostic test I saw I was making a lot of mistakes. At the end I made a 70. From this I could see why I encountered the bad experiences in high school and in college.
Writing an essay can be difficult if a person does not know how or where to begin. I personally believe the first step of writing is to list down ideas about the topic. After
I learn best by being relaxed and concentrated in my work/jobs. I certainly learn by writing things down because it helps me memorize things in a better way and it can serve to me as a study guide as a future which helps me learn. Learning by just listing and without writing is difficult for me because I can capture that much information in my brain without writing it down it just doesn't save in my memory. In contrary if there are talking and they have a PowerPoint slide or they have something projected related to the topic then that would help me grasp that concept better and later excel in that area. For me writing things down and seeing things in slides is a better way for me to learn because it helps me obtain knowledge of the concept
Writing an essay may seem like a huge obstacle to overcome, but with a plan of attack and a little organization, it can be easily completed. All it takes is seven easy steps.
Finding the motivation to sit down and write, or read has always been a challenge for me. The amount of books I have actually read all the through in the past few years of my life is slim to none. Really the only time I will read is for a school assignment, or if it’s required for a job. As I grow older I am starting to realize the importance of good reading, and writing skills. Having the ability to write what needs to be written, whether than just what you want to write can be difficult. I have always been the best at writing essays when there is a lot of freedom to write what you want. The times where I have to follow a particular structure is when coming up with original ideas can be a huge challenge.
Writing any sort of paper takes thought, time, and work. My writing process is like going on a strenuous hike. When going on a strenuous hike one must plan ahead and research where they are going. In writing one must do research and get all the knowledge that they can on the subject. Once the hike is all planned out and ready to go it is time to start on the hike, you aren’t necessarily focused on details at the time because you haven't made it to your final destination yet.. This is like starting on the rough draft, writing down and getting all your ideas down without much regard to grammar but just trying to get all your thoughts onto the paper. Then after you have been walking for a while you probably will need a break to hydrate and regain energy for the rest of the hike. Often times when writing papers you take breaks between drafts and even in the middle because writing can become monotonous. However, after taking a break you have probably
Throughout my writing career I never would have considered myself a solid writer as it wasn’t until this semester that I actually received my first A on a paper in my high school or college writing career. This came soon into this semester as I realized that something needed to change for me to give myself a chance at making an A in writing for this semester. These changes I knew needed to come from my writing process as I felt that my process was witholding me from achieving A’s on my writing assignments. After reflecting on my writing process, I concluded that I needed to change the processes by which I wrote and edited my papers. This semester my writing has benefitted from the changes to my writing process in the aspects of writing and editing rough drafts as the quality of my writing has improved since the implementation of breaks in my writing and multi person editing of my rough drafts in my
Throughout this semester, and the course of English 1010, my writing has changed a lot. I no longer view writing as an extremely daunting task that I dread with all my heart. However, I still do not find it appealing to write, and I definitely wouldn’t sit down and write for fun.
Writing an essay can be a frustrating, exasperating process, but it doesn't have to be. If you know the steps and methods, the rest should be an easy task. Find a subject you care about, and which you think others will enjoy reading it. Find the most seductive language and style that will captivate the readers, and go on.
Looking back on my experience of writing the first two long essays, I would say I faced multiple challenges. My first challenge was how to begin writing, especially on the first long essay. For the first long essay my biggest mistake was not making a rough outline and that made the writing process take much longer and it clearly was a struggle. I kept hitting writer’s block as I stared at my screen, not knowing what to write next. Another challenge was how to think critically, I was stumped at how to associate the book Harold and Maude with something I had previously come across. After spending hours and hours of rereading and making notes, I finally found a connection that helped tie my essay up. It was only after I finished with
When I write an essay I go through the same process almost every time. I start by creating an outline of what ideas I want to present in the essay then
My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college.
My writing skills are decent, if I take the time to fully process my thoughts. When it is a timed assignment or test, my skills go right out the window, I concentrate more on answering the prompt rather than the grammar, punctuation, or structure. It’s like a jumbled mess of writing filled with lots of errors. When I’m writing my main goals are to answer the prompt, have good structure, and no grammatical or punctuation errors. These goals sometimes get in the way of me expressing myself freely; if a sentence doesn’t flow right with rest of the paragraph, I will re-examine my paragraph or paper to see if I can conjure up a sentence to finish out my paragraph before moving on to the next paragraph. Another example is if I feel like I don’t
What I hate the most about writing essay is the fact that I have to do many works and spend a lot of time. Moreover, English is not my first language so extra efforts are needed in finishing essays. Writing essay is started with collecting all topic related sources and reading or skimming those sources to comprehend main ideas and extract important points. Next, combine all of the ideas and important points from the sources and translate those into my own words and put some of my own ideas. Lastly, start to write a coherent and concise essay with strong arguments and proper justifications and provide some feasible and relevant recommendations in the end of the essay.
