I had my first choir concert last night, I think I did good myself. My voice didn’t scratch which i’m very surprised. The bad thing that i did was get extremely nervous because of a certain someone that judges. I was scared of being judged, plus when our first song started I couldn’t stop laughing, I was laughing for about the first 15 seconds of the song, only because of my nervousness. Overall I think i did great.
Choir is something I deeply care about and it really does help me get through each day of school with a positive attitude. I am also one of the top choir students in our school, being accepted into all the top tier choirs at our school and making honor choirs throughout the state, but the All State Choir was the real prize. Only the best are accepted into it and I made it my sophomore year and I thought I would never face failure in choir. The next year however took a downward spiral. I tried out for the All State Choir the next year and walked in with confidence and pride. Then I sat with patience to waited for the results that were posted five hours later. When I looked at the list one name was missing and I
I nervously explained to the counselor, “I’m having some trouble finding a class that is a good fit.” She suggested that I try something out of my comfort zone, to “try new things” -whatever that means-. Sitting up confidently in her chair, she then proceeded to pull up open classes on her computer. After explaining what each one entailed for a good half hour, I wasn’t very impressed by the options. Clearly frustrated and defeated she suggested, “Choir?” The very last one on her list was the class that made me who I am today.
The most important activity I have done in my high school career is chorus. During school hours, we spend time preparing for concerts, and outside of school we have rehearsals, performances, extracurricular choirs, and concert tours in which we devote much of our time.
Many don’t realize that an orchestra is a team, a team is defined by Merriam-Webster as a group of people who work together. However, being apart of a team is much more important than that, it is a group of people you rely on, that push you to do better. Being apart of a group can requires you to do the same for others: be there for them, push them to be better. Orchestra is very similar to a sports team, in that there is no real “star” of the show. Because, if one person messes up then they affect everyone. When everyone works hard and plays well together it can be a great experience, but when people don’t try and lower the talent level of the group, it can be very frustrating. Because of this, the orchestra dynamic can be very discouraging to be a part of. In a high school orchestra you will see three main types of people: hard workers, attempters, and slackers.
If you are not familiar with what Show Choir is, and the amount of time and work ethic you need, then you are in for a big surprise. Show Choir has evolved over the past years increasingly. Forget the young men and women in dark jackets and dresses standing on old risers and singing nice choral pieces. Show Choir has become a mini-musical sport. Many claim that Cheerleading and Marching Band is considered a sport, why should Show Choir be any different? Yes, show choir is mostly singing and dancing, but there is much more to it than one would think. I would know this because Show Choir has been a part of my life for almost 3 years now. I have experienced the hardship, fun, disappointment, pain, time, and joy, but it all paid off at competition when we would go to awards and see how we placed. Show choir is a sport, just as much as “cheerleading” or “marching band.”
I don’t know how many notes I repeated. I don’t know how many hours I practiced. I can’t quantify how much I stressed. All I know is that it did not feel worth it.
We can usually listen to the music in various scenes in life. But we don't often just concentrated on listening. The same was the case with me before. Especially, I was ignorant in classical music. But now I like listening to orchestra concert from the front row seats. It is a quite wonderful experience. Since my children start learning how to play the violin, I came to listen to classical music. After I could a little understand artistic features of classical music, I listened to it with rapt attention. I especially came to like Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. I was listening it through only my computer, but on the whole I was satisfied.
I chose to join show choir because I thought it would be a good way for me to leave my comfort zone and try something new and fun. The first time I thought of auditioning for show choir was when I saw them perform during my sophomore year. They sang and danced to a song titled, "Till the Love Runs Out" and the sound and choreography they did just blew me away. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of that choir.
Thirteen year old “Davis Blaser” , choir student will be explaining the first time she performed for choir.
Music is an everyday occurrence for most people. In some way, shape and form, people listen to music. For Christians, specially those at bible college, this can be in chapel day to day. For others it may be in a car or even in the workplace, which can be the case for Christians also. Music for me is an everyday occurrence, not only in chapel but also in other places such as my dorm room and when I get ready for sports.
This year has flown by quickly and sometimes I wonder where all the time went. When I first got my classes I was nervous because most of them were honors with two pre-AP classes. I learned that the classes were not hard if I studied and did my work. I wanted to drop out of my English class but my mother convinced me to stay in. My favorite class was science because we were always doing something interesting and I connected well with everyone. I got the opportunity to be in the school’s Show Choir which was amazing. I feel sad because in our Show Choir we are mostly composed of seniors so I got used to them and now I will miss them terribly. I feel like they were my second family.
I have truly loved the two years, and counting, that I have spent participating in the Phoenix Girls Chorus, PGC. In PGC there are five different levels of choir. From least to most experienced the choir levels are: Melodia, Harmonia, Dolce, Bella, and Cantabile. Last year and the year before I was in the Dolce choir and this year I promoted to Bella. In order to promote to another choir you must complete all the theory book requirements and master a special skill, such as sight reading.
It exceeds expectations with all the fun and laughter in the world. There is no comparision to show choir in high school I am forever grateful and happy I decided to try it out. After being in show choir in middle school I thought this is not as much fun as I thought it would be, I don’t really like it, let’s not do it in high school. I was later convinced by friends and family to try it out because they knew it would be a whole different experience in high school than intermediate, and I am beyond happy I listened to them. The practices and rehearsals may be more extensive, but they are worth it because the fundamentals of performing, and the competitions allow every minute spent practicing to pay off
The article talked about how gospel and dance have been around since the 17th century in the western hemisphere. It gives information on how gospel and dance was pass down from generation to generation. It shows how slaves had faith to push on, because they would one day be free. The topics “gospel” and civil right movement in song and dance are broken down to give more detail where it all started from.
Praise, Worship, Singing to God... Christian music is a way to talk to our God. It can be rap, pop, country Or just about any genre. Christian music can get you in your feels or get you pumped up. Like I believe that Christian music is the best music because it is clean, it is real, and because it brings us closer to God.
