One way I connect to my German heritage is through food. One food my family eats is potato salad. Potato salad is potatoes , mayo , eggs , vinegar , celery , and onions folded together into a salad served cold. One other food I want to try is authentic German soft pretzels. I’ve had the mall version, but I don’t think they’ed taste taste the same. I’ve heard they’re really good from my Great Aunt Marcia. My last food I eat is gummy bears!!! One holiday that came from Germany is Easter. The legend of the Easter bunny came from Germany in the 1700s. Kids today still believe of the bunny who leaves eggs at their house on Easter evening. Germans also celebrate Christmas .They do some of the same traditions like having a Christmas tree in your living room. Some different like putting candles on trees or covering your house with colored plastic sheets. The last holiday I connect with is New Year's Eve. Germans watch a show on television on New Year's Eve called “Dinner for One” they have done this since 1972. They also melt lead and pour it into cold water and the shape determines what your future holds. I connect to German holidays in many ways.
My German culture is important to me. Even though I live in the USA my German culture affects my daily life. Germany is where most of my hobbies(sports), holidays and food come from. I plan to teach my kids to love and respect their culture through foods and holidays.

One from my Choctaw heritage that I want to try is
Almost everyone loves a good burger. In fact, in the US alone the yearly average intake for burgers is ballparked around 50 billion. And guess how that savory meal got passed from Germany to America’s hands? Thats correct, the 1893 Chicago Fair. Other foods that are eaten daily without a thought originally came from that exact fair. Cracker Jack, Juicy Fruit gum, Quaker Oats, and Shredded Wheat, even Aunt Jemima pancake mix, whose company is earning over 900 million a year. Even Milton Hershey bought a European exhibitor's chocolate manufacturing equipment and added chocolate products to his caramel manufacturing business, and carbonated water

German-Americans enjoyed meat most of all, with startch rich sides potato salads and others.

However my father doesn’t have these character traits because my German heritage came from my mother’s side of the family. Germans are almost always on time. It is a common character trait that I have inherited. Germans are also normally a little bit taller. Although I am not too tall my mother is fairly tall and my sister is supposed to be quite tall when she gets
