My Life, People Ruined
“I promise to live with you and laugh with you; to stand by your side, and to sleep in your arms; to be joy to your heart, and food for your soul; to always make you, you”(Spelling 242).When you are a kid, you don't worry about what anyone thinks. Stori Telling, an autobiography of Tori Spelling, is a hilarious autobiography about her over-the-top first wedding to finding new love to her much-publicized -- and misunderstood -- “disinheritance,” and how she makes wrong decisions in her life, and will blame others for the unhappiness in her life but it seems like most of her unhappiness is self-created and self-perpetuated.
At a young age many of us are faced with problems that we don’t understand. Whether its problems with family, friends or ourselves; we have some difficulties overcoming them. “Hole in My Life” by Jack Gantos is about Jack in his younger years wanting to write but also wanted to make money. He chose the money over his career and got himself into serious trouble. “My Friend Dahmer” by Derf Backderf is about a young boy, named Jeffrey Dahmer, who had trouble fitting it and making friends. With no one to turn to his dark twisted fantasies consumed him and made him do things he later on paid the price for. These two books share many similarities and many differences however they both portray the consequences
I disagree with Lauren Slater’s theory that throughout a person's life, one will only surround themselves with ideas and people similar to their own because, it is easy to see that people enjoy controversy and over the course of our lives, our beliefs and ideas can change.
The film “Waging a Living” was based around four people Jarry, Jean, Barb, and Mary. The documentary followed these people and told each of their individual struggles with day to day activities because of the low wages they earn. One in four American workers, more than 30 million people, have jobs that pay less than the federal poverty level for a family of four. The purpose behind producing this film was to sway public outlook on people with low earning jobs, and to help make changes to the income these people receive. Jarry is a security guard and makes about 12 dollars an hour which is barely enough to pay for the basic needs in life including his one room apartment that cost $535 per month and monthly child support.
Rebecca Gilman’s The Glory of Living is an ambitious piece of writing. The playwright takes on the challenge of exploring how an eighteen-year-old girl has ended up on death row, convicted of multiple murders. The play’s opening scene is exciting and engaging, and Gilman has a strong grasp of the characters she has created, but as the action progresses, it becomes evident that the play is missing something. The Glory of Living’s shortcomings exemplify the need for playwrights to focus on developing a Major Dramatic Question, and a protagonist with a strong want.
In T. Coraghessan Boyle’s story “The Love of My Life,” it centers around the teenage relationship of Jeremy and China who claim to be in love with one another and nothing else matters to them. Their relationship; however, is centered around what a relationship is like in movies and based of the physical attraction to each other as well as being naive to what real love is as this is their first real relationship with a significant other. The relationship between the two is great until they encounter their first real obstacle in the relationship when China becomes pregnant. The egocentric nature of both characters takes over and there begins to be cracks within the relationship. Now they face the reality of becoming parents and they blame
In the book All But My Life, Gerda shows us the life of being a Jew in the days of the Nazi war. Gerda is now eighteen years old, but she is still lacking the happiness she once had. In the latest chapters, Gerda is forced out of her hometown. She moves to the “ghetto” along with all of her neighbors. A few days pass and right when things seem to get back to normal, the Klein family gets split up. They all go to separate camps to perform labor for the Nazis. A few weeks later, Gerda finds no sign of her parents nor their whereabouts. She then is told of these horrific stories about how the Nazis tortured the Jews in Auschwitz. Gerda then receives a letter from Abek. Since Abek is higher class, he gave Gerda the option to work at their store
After reading Part one of Change Anything, my initial thoughts on how I could use the science of personal success in my education are to better understand how I can succeed while in school at my highest potential. I understand and have a better knowledge of many influences that are undoubtedly working against me every day that try to ensure I possibly fail, if I allowed myself to. I also found the “willpower trap” to be extremely helpful. Rather than placing blame on or giving credit to my willpower, I should focus more on how I can stay motivated personally and change the many sources working against me. The 6 sources of influence are very beneficial to understanding why failure could occur and how to overcome failure. Also, I now have to
On August 29, 1979, the day after Ron Reyes joined them on drums, replacing Johh Stielow, The Tourists changed their name to Red Cross. A few days later, the reformed band went into a recording studio for their first time, together with Joe Nolte, leader of The Last, who produced the session at Media Art Studios in Hermosa Beach, California on September 6, 1979. However, when Red Cross went with Posh Boy Records, Robbie Fields didn't like the Nolte recordings, and made most of the songs were redone.

Story is only an aspect of reality. John implies that story is reality. In Act One, John states that , “Reality is relational to the core.”(Eldredge 22) John would be correct, assuming his previous implications were correct as well, which they were not. Story is subjective, reality is not.
All people may be created equal, but besides that initial birth there is little that reflects equality. The phrase “Life isn’t fair,” is so painfully true in a world that preaches equality and free will. Equality coupled with the idea of free will has no place with the suffering of the world. Although some people make choices that cause their downfall, it cannot be declared that all the faults in someone’s life are all their doing. This can be seen in Candide in where the protagonist actually has no choice without the punishment for his free will. Correspondingly, Sharbat Gula, from the national geographic article A Life Revealed, explains all the suffering the world has caused her from being in Afghanistan.
The existence of evil in the world seems to make it impossible for us to have a meaningful life. In fact, Dostoevsky argues that evil is utterly unacceptable and that the suffering it brings a¬bout can never be justified. Is Dostoevsky’s argument unconfutable or do you believe that the meaning of life in the world can still be rescued even in the face of radical evil?
From logging my food on myfitnesspal for five consecutive days, I have concluded heaps of information about not only my eating and lifestyle habits, but also the habits of our society. During the time period that I have logged my food for each meal, I have been very busy. Something that I concluded from this process though, is that the days that I was less busy I ate much healthier than the days that I was overly busy. I do think that it is extremely important to understand what exactly you are putting in your body and how this affects your body. By logging my food, I had the opportunity to really learn and understand these things. Collecting this data really affects health and medicine for many reasons. For instance, it seemed like the days that I ate a little bit healthier or exercised, not only was my health was better but I felt better. The days that I did not eat healthy whatsoever my attitude tended to be more negative. Since I recorded my food for five days, I have concluded that due to our fast paced society, fast, easy, and unhealthy food is what we turn to. We all claim to care about our health so much, but the majority of our society is letting our fast paced lives get in the way of healthy eating habits and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The purpose
In, “This Too Is Life”, the author, Lu Hsun, writes about his thoughts on life and its values as he is dying of illness. Hsun first explains the duality of exhaustion and rest, the fearfulness of exhaustion and not being able what you have to do as you have already done too much. The fear of missing out on the active, productive parts or life where you feel like you are truly living, coupled at the same time with the blissfulness of rest and simply doing nothing and having nothing to do, experiencing the comforts of idleness. In these moments of inactivity, it is easy to feel as if one is not really living life, that life has no purpose if one is not being productive. But, what Hsun is trying to express
What is your version of the "good life" using three aspects of life and is it the same as the person next to you? Everyone has their own idea of the "ideal life" and no two people have the same exact idea. Some may have the idea of money, clothes, and cars while another may have the idea of family, no death, and a big house. The two individuals have two completely different points of view, interests, likes, dislikes, and aspirations. My version of the "good life" is nothing like the other examples but it is okay because it is supposed to be different. Personally my "ideal life" include having enough money to sustain and be comfortable, having a successful career, and having a lifetime supply of puppies and dogs. There are reasons behind why I have chosen these specific aspects of a possible life and they will be explained in the paragraphs to follow.
