1. The government’s purpose is to help and protect their citizens, as well as ensure that they have their own freedoms. Although, it may see like the government is always trying to trick us out of our money, in which some cases they do, overall they’re trying to help our nation grow as a whole. I will say that some decisions weren’t the best ones, and they have caused a lot of problems too. However, as seen in the past, the government learns from their past mistakes, making sure they never happen again. The government may seem one sided and look like they’re not trying to help us and trying to help themselves, but in most cases there has been a positive outcome for the people. Different things such as my parents definitely have an influence my political ideology. They raised me in a certain way a taught me different things that might’ve been different than what other parents taught their children. Also, the news media shapes my political ideology because they put out different opinions on news stories and try to get us to think about what we believe. The news stories about what the government has done and how the government handles things shapes what my opinion on their purpose is. My religious beliefs also come into the equation when I think about what shapes my political ideology. What I believe and what I practice shapes what I think the government should and shouldn’t do because of what I don’t believe. If I could hold any public office position, I’d choose to be a Senator for many different reasons. Being a senator, I would get to represent my state for 6 years in Congress. As well as have strong ties with the community I’m representing because I get to represent them longer. Also, I’d be recognized a lot more than if I was a part of the House of Representatives because there’s only 2 Senators per state. I would get to vote on bills, legislation, law etc., and I could propose a bill if I wanted to. My main focus would be on issues affecting the state I represent, such as their taxes, economy, and so on.
