“Just take a few deep breaths and relax”, says my trainer as I feel beads of sweat running down my forehead. My whole body is numb and my mind is racing while I try and recall everything I had learned. I look into the crowd and just see darkness. I can hear people chanting my name. The lights are all shining on me. I look across the ring and see my opponent. He stares me down but the look on his face does not phase me. I turn around as my trainer gives me the last piece of advice. Then the bell rings. I take a few steps forward and immediately run into what feels like a brick wall. My opponent hits me straight in the face with a punch. How did I get here?
I fell in love with boxing the moment I stepped into the gym about two years ago. The first thing I saw were two guys sparing and all of the sudden one of them took a punch to the face and fell to the ground. The loud boom of his body hitting the canvas was like nothing I had ever seen before. I could not wait to get in the ring. I started boxing lessons because I wanted to learn some type of self-defense and it was the most convenient. When I stepped into the ring for the first time and started doing drills I found out I was pretty good. I was shocked because I had never done anything like this before, but it felt great to be naturally talented at something. I did not want my talent to go to waste so I stuck with.
I eventually fell so in love with it that I gave up basketball, which was a sport I had
I had a hard time finding a career. All the careers I came across did not interest me at all. Until a friend came up with the idea of the career of athletic training. That is when I started my research and my interest grew greater.
When we finally got to the fight, they weighed me in and my coach told me to start putting on my boxing gear. I wore black trunks with a red flame going down the right leg and an black tank top. After I put on my gear I started to wait till it was my turn to fight. I started to eat some cashews, but I was too nervous to eat. After a while, it was finally my turn to fight my coach wrapped my hands up and warmed me up. My coach and I started heading towards the ring so I could fight. When the bell rung, I rushed towards my opponent and started throwing all the combinations I knew. By the time that I knew, the fight was over in the first 55 second in the first round. I shook my opponent’s hand and his coach’s hand. I was so happy I won and got a trophy my dad was so proud of me.
My entire life, I have lived and breathed basketball. When I was only three days old, I was being passed around in the stands of a basketball game while my parents coached my older sister. In first grade, I was begging my parents to let me play. I couldn’t, however, because in my town kids don’t start playing basketball until the third grade. They let me join an Upward basketball league that was near my area, but Upward wasn’t competitive enough for me. So the next year, I went a couple towns over to join their city league so I could play. From then on, basketball was my passion.
Becoming an athletic trainer has always been a dream of mine since picking up lacrosse in high school. Becoming one is a very rewarding career with helping out athletes every day. They are the first person there when something goes wrong, and help aid recovery to get that player back on the field again. I have been constantly learning about new areas where athletic trainers are needed, however, high school has always stuck out to me. After doing research on the salary, schooling, certifications required, job setting, and the advantages and disadvantages of the career the idea of becoming one has become a huge dream of mine.
I fell in love with basketball 7 years ago. What began as a few trial trainings gradually grew into a deep passion for the sport. I realized that I had the flair for it as doing moves like layups came to me very naturally. All I had to do was to observe my coach do an example once, practice the move a few times, and I got it.
Athletic Trainers have to have a lot of skills when they work. Athletic Trainers have to specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating muscle and bone injuries and illnesses. They have to help injuries for people who are physically active. They would have perform general administrative, such as keeping records or writing reports. Athletic Trainers prevent injury and reinjure whatever injury you may have. They would have to report the progress of your recovery to one of your Coaches or your physicians. Athletic trainers need to know what to apply to injury and they need to know what type of medicine they may need if they have a terrible injury.
Being around sports my whole life has made me have an interest in athletic training. What really started my interest in athletic training was when my friend got injured during a football game. It turned out that he had a compound fracture in his right shin. Right when the injury appeared, As he was trying to get up I was there to hold him onto the ground until the athletic trainer made it to the field. After shadowing an athletic trainer I have learned that there is a tremendous amount of paperwork and filing in this profession, after shadowing an athletic trainer, you realize it’s not just taping ankles and sitting around.
On the opposite side of the ring is Muhammad Ali, surrounded by his trainers, is intimately and with great intensity glaring into the eyes of Angelo Dundee Ali’s head coach, who gives him words of strength that Muhammad can grasp onto during the fight, Angelo wipes Ali’s face, he is ready to fight. The two fighters confront each other and bump gloves as a sign of respect meanwhile the bell rings and the crowd gets disruptive, the two fighters circle each other and the first round
The first time I realized that I wanted to be an athletic trainer was during my eighth grade summer at camp. I was working on a project where I had to find careers that I was interested in. Doing this project helped me realize how many job choices there were, but only one intrigued me as much as this one. My choice to major in kinesiology was made clear during my freshman year after I job shadowed an athletic trainer at my local college and high school. High school has helped me realize who I am and what I want to become, and college will help me become that person.
My passion for sports began at an early age. I began to play basketball at the age of five and have been

The athletic training program at my school, many times our supervisor would let us take the lead when it came to treating a patient and diagnosing them. The biggest obstacle I face through this was doubting my confidence. One time as we were on watch during a game, a player had fallen and was in great pain. I was the next in line to go with the trainer to help the player, when we approached I began to feel my confidence dwindle. Yet I knew I had a duty to the player and was able to overcome this barrier.
My love for the game all started in preschool when my brother hung a mini hoop from the back of the door in our playroom. Soon after I began shooting on that hoop non-stop, attempting to perfect my jump shot. Once kindergarten came around my mom signed me up for the basketball program at my school. I loved playing the game and doing it with my friends made it all the better. I remember one game I scored a basket as the buzzer sounded to end the game and that was the first time I can remember feeling true excitement and joy from the game of basketball. Over the next few years, I continued to play basketball just in the winter for the program my school offered, improving my game and enjoying myself more and more. A big leap for me came in 3rd grade when I received a brand new basketball hoop for Christmas. Unfortunately on Christmas Eve that year I had

Training and development has become increasingly essential to the success of modern organisations, yet some still look at training as a problem or as something that is not taken seriously. Training and development is one key approach used by organisations to improve and maintain the capabilities of its workforce. However, many experts distinguish between training and development, being that training tends to be more closely focused and adapted towards short-term performance concerns, while development tends to be adapted more towards expanding an individual’s skills for future responsibilities (Snell and Bohlander 2007). The main reason that organisations train their employees is to bring their knowledge, skills and abilities up to the
