The first couple days of class were not as bad as I thought they would be. I was pretty lonely at first because I had no friends, but a couple of days later I started becoming more social and made a couple friends. My classes are exactly what I expected, I knew they would be harder than high school but still do-able. One thing that was new to me was that my teachers didn’t know me because they are all big lecture classes. The reason why I like my writing class because it’s a small class and my professor is nice, outgoing and makes the class fun. The work isn’t too overwhelming yet, but blackboard is very confusing sometimes and I missed some assignments.
The exciting part of college so far was my first college football game! It was an amazing experience and I had a lot of fun. We left for Baylor Friday around 2:45pm and we got to the hotel at around 5:00pm. The hotel was very nice and I roomed with my teammate Kyle, who was my mentor because he is a senior and I am

When I got off the bus there were a lot of UTSA football fans greeting us and telling us good luck. I saw my parents recording me with the proudest look on their face and that made me feel really good about myself. When we got in the locker room we had about an hour until the game started so I went out on the field and started taking pictures and videos and sent them to my parents. During the game was really fun, even though I didn’t get to get in, but it was fun watching my teammates succeed and keep up with Baylor. During halftime, the score was 7-7 so the outcome of the game was still questionable. Coach came into the locker room and talked about some game plan adjustments, we drank some water, then got hyped to go back out there. When 3rd quarter started, everyone was fired up and I cheered for my teammates from the side, knowing that they are doing their best and I was proud to be a part of the
Since elementary school English was always my favorite subject. I knew that reading and writing were essential to my learning for me to succeed. Growing up I was always in love with writing stories about my life, so when it came to my English class it was always a breeze for me. I remember being in Ms. Eaton’s class which was when I first was introduced to how to write a narrative. Not only did this class help me become a better writer at such young age but also improved my reading skills so much. I was always in activities that improved my overall techniques in English.
y name is Jared LiPonte, currently a junior at Queens College, and I am writing to request your permission to register for the summer session of URST 390W-01.
Ever since I was young, English has always been one my least favorite subjects throughout school because I did not enjoying writing. Writing always frustrated me because it seemed so time consuming. But as I grew older I came to the realization that writing papers are not as hard as we set it out to be. If you formulate a method to how you will complete the paper, and follow through with it, it makes the entire process so much easier. For example, for all the students who procrastinate with their assignments until the day before it is due. Think about all the time and effort you have to put fourth to complete an entire paper in one day. Imagine how much less effort it would take to simply start working on the assignment at least four days before the required due date. You would only have to spend an hour or two a day to complete the entire essay. All you have to do is develop a plan as to what you want to accomplish each day and a writing strategy to following while writing. Throughout my English courses I have assembled my own writing strategies, and the first step to writing a good essay is pre-writing.
Toward the begin of this class I made an objective to build up my composition aptitudes to better set me up for different courses for my degree, at the end of the day, to have the capacity to finish meets expectations that would demonstrate my capacity to participate in a scholastic talk. I knew the course would be diverse contrasted with whatever other English or school courses that I have taken. I knew English 106 environment would give me a chance to develop in different written work measurements. This course manages me with a few methods that have made written work a smidgen simpler, as well as all the more top to bottom bringing about a more elevated amount of scholastic composition versus my typical military style composing. Presently
For my third writing assignment, I decided to attend the Writing Center for the first time. The Writing Center is at the O’Leary library in the third floor. You should do an appointment for a secure spot, but you can go and if they have availability when you go and you can they’ll set you up with someone. When I went in the Writing Center there was a student working there and I told her that I wanted someone to view my Book Report for my Politics class. I went to the Writing Center with the hope that someone will see me right away, and indeed there was space. An English teacher, that showed up told the student helping me that there was one person that could see me right away and help me. I liked that they could help me right away, even though
Writing tends to be one of the best forms of presenting and preserving information. However, “poor” writing may not offer the desired message, is full of errors, offers irrelevant information or is uninteresting to the audience. I have been striving to develop my writing through various activates that entail freewriting and reading the “best” articles. Hence, my writing has significantly improved because it adheres to most of the applicable principles and procedures.
Upon entering college, I was actually quite nervous about what to expect from my Composition I class. I’d seen the films, read the articles and heard from others about all the insane deadlines and stress that came with that. I never enjoyed writing or English class in general, but taking Composition I has changed my views on both. This class has benefitted me in several ways, as both a student and a writer. I have learned how to write more effectively, expanded my writing methods, and learned how to properly use different grammar techniques.
This semester has been quite different, mainly because I took a few different English classes that I normal wouldn’t have taken. I took a ‘reading’ class; I miss reading classes in school. Don’t get me wrong, writing classes are important too, and I’m not just saying that because I’m writing this essay for a writing class. They’re important due to the fact that they teach valuable lessons like correct punctuation, grammar, spelling, dictation and most importantly, how to bull crap your way through any paper.
I’ll be honest, I was not looking forward to taking College Writing I. That’s probably why I waited until my junior year to take this course. I absolutely hate writing papers and after 4 semesters of writing lab reports for my chemistry classes like organic chemistry and general chemistry, I didn’t see why I had to take this class. I already took English classes for four years in high school. However, I’m grateful that I took this class and that I will be taking College Writing II next semester. I believe that I’ve grown as a writer and I can’t wait to learn more in College Writing II.
This year in English II CP, we are analyzing our class syllabus. The three main concepts that stand out to me are measurable course objectives, rules and expectations and the late work policy. This year we will have improvements of reading, writing, and grammar in this course. In this English II class, the three most important things are objectives, rules and expectations, make up and late work policy.
During this English class have learned a ton of new material. English and writing have always been one of my major struggles in school. While in high school I thought I had been taught everything in English material that I would need in life. I was totally wrong. Before learning in this class, I would just start writing. I really did not know how to plan a paper. Since this class, I can now plan a paper using an organized outline to write it.
One day I got the phone call from my friend. She said my Instructor provide a topic and need to write a note on that particular topic. She had written and asked me to check that one. When I got time, I checked that note and uploaded on paper checking website for grammar mistakes or any plagiarism. I found there was 75% plagiarism. Immediately I called her and explain that what she has done is not good for her carrier, if you really like that web site, you can use for your references but when you write, use your own words and thoughts. That is the correct attitude to write because we can learn more vocabularies, writing pattern. My friend was so happy to know about plagiarism and keep telling me, ‘you save me.’
This fall semester was an exciting and interesting days to me. I was little nervous coming to this fall semester, even though I was happy to be in college after my high school graduation this year. The transition between high school and college was big, I changed my whole life system. I learned how to maintain the time and even changed my learning style from the high school in order to be successful in college. In this transition between high school to college, English 1301 helped me a lot. This semester in this online course I learned what it takes to be a good college student. Especially in this English class I improved my reading skills, writing skills and analyzing skills.
You're sitting in your English classroom, it,s cold outside and it is the day before valentine's day. Your teacher walks slowly to the front of the room and speaks in a half somber voice,” Do you want the good news or the bad news?” Some kids raise their voices and shout to good news but majority were worried and, asked for the bad news first. “ Bad news; we are writing an essay for the next week.” The entire class groans, and you cast your eyes downward, as a little bit more homework is added onto your pile. Then the teacher speaks from the front of the classroom again. “ Now for the good news; it is a group project.” You will get to work with your group to write the essay together.” You sigh in relief because you know that your work is going to be much, much better for several reasons.
As the semester began, I looked forward to taking another English course. English has always been a favorite subject of mine because I enjoy writing. As I entered this class, I knew that it was going to be a heavy work load but I knew that I would get all of my work done if I put my mind to it. This was exactly the case in this course. The English 102 course is a demanding and quick paced class that requires hard work, dedication, revisions and no room for procrastination.
