I think my writing has improved a lot Since working on journals. Since learning from my english instructor I have learned and remembered many knew things. First as an old writer, i did not think much about writing skills that you need in papers period. For example Like commas i would hardly ever use them because i did not understand what the punctuation was really used for, not only did i not use commas but i never capitalize the letter i when referring to my self In writings. Journal writing really has help me in understanding my mistakes and helping me grow in my writing skills. In the 2011 article “Helping Students Meet the Challenges of Academic Writing”, educators Linda Fernsten and Mary Reda offer innovative self-reflective writing exercises that post-secondary instructors can employ to help students improve writer self-image and academic writing. The authors’ rationale for reflective and practical writing strategies were developed from direct classroom experience, and are based on four (4) assumptions. Their claim that self-reflective writing can aid student writers in overcoming conflict (due to dominant culture, upbringing, former writing experiences, gender, and other marginalizing factors) to improve writer self-identity is plausible. However, their argument that cross-curriculum academic writing can be improved through self-directed, self-reflective writing requires further investigation.
The information presented during our orientation day was somewhat daunting but after having a few days to process everything and read over the information again I feel prepared for this clinical. I feel that all of the information provided was helpful to prepare us for the encounters and experiences that we might have on 5E.
The writing process has taught me a lot about the different steps I should take while writing a paper.
Overall, I see myself doing well in this program, however there are some areas that I need to improve upon. I anticipate some challenges in organizing, structuring long documents and critical thinking. The idea of having time to sit for a period of time to focus on my writing is difficult. Most of the time I have a wealth of ideas but I need to organize them in a cohesive outline. If I rush through an assignment, I make too many mistakes and that is frustrating. My approach to tackling frustration is to start early. Finishing early allows me the time to go back and check my work. This also works to my benefit because I will stay up late and put in many hours to make sure my work is correct. My philosophy, when it comes to education,
Finally, the team results will also be used as an indication of the team’s success, although success is not limited to the numerical value but in particular the learning process. It will also examine the validity of the team contract and its impact on the team’s interaction. Therefore the report will analyse the results in conjunction with the actual experiences as a reflection of the overall success of the group’s task.
Before starting this course, I believed I had a good grasp on the rules of the English language, grammar and how to write in a formal manner. However, after submitting a sample piece of my writing to a number of websites that check for grammatical errors and receiving feedback and analysis from these websites, I have realised that there are a number of areas that require work in order for me to write in a formal manner. Whilst most of the reports gave good feedback, Writers Diet (www.writersdiet.com.WT/php) stated the use of nominalisation, while Polish My Writing (www.polishmywriting.com) identified the over use of redundant words within my writing.
As part of my placement module I am required to reflect on my fundamental skills and communication skills that I have gained from placement. I will talk about my fundamental and communication skills using a reflective model of my choice. I will explore the fundamental an communication skills using Driscoll’s Model of Reflection(2007) His model of reflection was based around 3 questions. Beginning with the first one being ‘What?’ is the purpose of returning to this situation, what happened?
America is a place full of immigrants with no single ethnicity or race. America can also be referred to as the ?Melting Pot? because it consists ingredients of multicultural backgrounds. There are cultures such as French American, Asian American, Italian American and African American. I am Mexican American. My culture has helped me to become the writer I am today. My bicultural background and constant moving back and forth from Mexico to America has both influenced and weakened my writing. Although I was born in America, my Mexican culture has always been a part of my life. I have spent the majority of my life in Mexico, and Spanish is my first
I have every night of practicum researched each of my patients that I am caring for. After I have a better in-depth understanding of their disease process and treatment guidelines I discuss with my preceptor what there hospital stay will look like and entail. On May 25th I was the officer on E15, with Driver Engineer Ryan Anderson and Firefighter Nathan Hawkins. At approximately 1834hrs, we responded to a reported stroke at 274 Hood St with M9. We arrived first on scene and began patient care, assisting a middle-aged woman who was sitting in her carport. I do not recall her specific complaint, but do remember that her symptoms did not support a differential diagnosis of stroke and we therefore treated her as a non-emergent patient. FF Hawkins and I assessed the patient on the carport, taking vitals and obtaining pertinent history. During this time it is likely that the patient or her daughter requested transport to GMC-Duluth, however I cannot recall this exchange occurring with confidence. Once
How do I . . . Write a Reflection? Why reflective writing? Reflection offers you the opportunity to consider how your personal experiences and observations shape your thinking and your acceptance of new ideas. Professors often ask students to write reading reflections. They do this to encourage you to explore your own ideas about a text, to express your opinion rather than summarise the opinions of others.
I believe I got the grade that I got because I didn’t spend time more look over my paper more carefully. I noticed after I saw the comment that the reason I repeated myself a lot because when I did my revisions on my paper, I didn’t really by close attention to what I wrote and what I wrote before. That led me to repeat myself few times in my paper. When I was final checking my paper, I thought there should be more Honda discussion than Audi because the Honda ad is my main discussion. I didn’t know that there should be a balanced ratio between both of them. I am happy with the grade that I got for my paper, but I could’ve gotten a better grade if I checked my paper more carefully than what I did before I turned it in.
