Most of the Nacirema travel to the edges of their land during the warm period of the year. They pack their vehicles with large sacks that contain food, drinks, odd-looking tools, and shiny boards. When they arrive to the edges of their land they can see water; lots of it. There are also trillions of really tiny rocks that are between the Nacirema's driving path and the water. When the Nacirema walk on rocks, they feel soft.

It has been 60 years since we have last record the events in the Nacirema culture and now researches today are baffled by the culture of the young Nacirema children. For example these young are spending day and night with their noses in these light boxes. Day after day, night after night these children love to stare at these hand size light boxes. We don’t exactly know what’s so entertaining about the light or the box, but we see them laugh, smile, cry, and get angry while looking into the light boxes. The older generation of the Nacirema indicates a great display of disapproval of them, but hypocritically many of them spend almost just as much time viewing into the light boxes as well.

Miner (1956) discussed the body rituals among the Nacirema. The Nacirema are human beings, just like all other humans. They bleed, they love, they are born, and they die. However, for some reason, the Nacirema consider themselves a special breed of humans. This belief is so ingrained in their traditions and cultures that some have taken it to the extreme. Scholars have argued that the Nacirema’s inflated sense of pride stems from the greatness of their ancestors. They descended from a great group of warriors who came together and agreed on the future of their descendants. This essay will examine the Nacirema’s obsession with oil and how this informs their aggressive behavior.

The British North America Act (BNA) is known as The Act that created Canada. In this thesis statement I will thoroughly explain the Manifest Destiny, and how colonists feared the United States. In 1864 the BNA Act was drafted by the Quebec Conference on Canadian confederation.

The National Park Service (NPS) is a notable government agency whose responsibility is to manage and protect national parks, monuments, and other recreational facilities. The main objective of the NPS is not only to preserve historical information, but to conduct a setting in which the nation’s citizens are provided with the opportunity to become concerned or intrigued by the historical significance of these national parks, monuments, and more. Given the task to manage these national memorials also comes with the responsibility of preserving the sites. The NPS is responsible for maintaining the parks’ utilities and infrastructure, in which can become exceptionally costly. Even with visitor fees, the NPS is not receiving enough money to upkeep these parks and monuments, which can result in America losing significant visual reminders of history and the parks’ educational programs as well.

K’naan, a Somali-born Canadian rapper, uses his music to highlight the problems of his birth country. Through elements of jazz music and ethio jazz beats, K’naan uses his platform to raise awareness for the problems that plague Somalia. K’naan grew up in a civil war-torn Somalia. His music often reflects the struggle of a child living through the horrors of war. Starting in 1986, the Somali Civil war has cost the country 300,000 to 500,000 casualties and has displaced more than 1.1million people. The Civil War has ravaged the country to the point of low resources and has forced children to become soldiers. Because of the hardships that the rapper has both witnessed and been through, K’naan continues to uses his music to help bring light to the issues that still plague Somalia today.

Hence, students must learn to properly nourish their bodies with a nutritional diet, enough sleep, and limited intake of alcohol or dugs. Next, students must feel both safe in regards to financial and personal security. Financially security is often what both dormers and commuters alike struggle with, and often take on 20+ hours of work (a damaging effect on school work), or have no gaurantee of being able to afford to come back to school the next year. Also, students learn in college and enjoy their time there if they feel safe enough to explore the campus and walk at night, or use the bus. Hence a low crime rate should be necessary. Thirdly, belonging means students feel they have close friends and family to talk to and be accepted by both at home and on campus. In this sense, it is easier for dormers to find friends on campus, but get more distances with those back at home, while the opposite is true for commuters. However, if both make an effort to get involved in groups of their interest on campus, and keep in touch with family and friends back home, they can overcome these struggles, although it may be difficult at first due to the big campus size and busy schedules. The above statement is not true for Viana because she is an ambitious girl. She knew what she wanted to become when she was an adolescents and knew what path had to be taken to achieve her goals. Viana never gave up and thrived to reach each goal. Her low-income childhood is what led her to become successful in her future. Viana’s background started to show benefits middle school when she got accepted into the Scholars Educators Excellence Dedication Success (SEEDS) program. This program helped children based on their economic status and helped Viana get into a high class highscool. Her ethnicity also helped her get into a Ivy League college, then leading into her doing her doctorate at University of Connecticut. The way that her ethnicity

There are many advantages for living on campus, however, there also many disadvantages too. Constant companionship in your living space can sometimes be a disadvantage, especially in situations when you want privacy. If you are accustomed to living in your own room in your parents’ house and suddenly have to share a room with others, this can take some adjustment time (Bartkowski1). Noise also is huge factor to the disadvantages of living on campus. Dorms can be a noisy place, considering there are many students living there who gather in dorm rooms or the lounge. However, if you need some quiet time to study or do homework, you can always go to the library.

Stress is unavoidable, no matter the situation, location, or time; stress is always present. Stress is found in higher levels during the duration in which students attend college. It is predictably higher among college students, freshmans in particular, because of the extreme expectations set upon them by their parents and, of course, society. The need to please their parents, longing for success in life, and being able to sustain a reasonable income in the future, all of which falls into the hands of college students who are making critical decisions which may decide the outcome for a large portion of their lives. If these students end up hating their future jobs, the stress of having to go back into college to study for a new career

According to Lupien, McEwan, Gunnar, and Heim (2009), going off to college involves significant adjustments to their daily routines; sleeping and eating habits, time-management skills, and stress levels will be altered in one way or another. First-year students have to adjust to the new school environment, different social settings, and new schedules, all without the help and guidance from their parents, who have been there for them for eighteen years. Over 30% of college freshman report that they feel overwhelmed (Klainberg, Ewing, & Ryan, 2010), where some students even opt to work as they juggle their class and work schedules. Some students work at a job or study harder than others, but they are all trying to get degrees so maybe one day they will have meaningful and significant lives. It is a constant struggle for everyone who is trying desperately to make him or herself into a success. And every college student wants to be involved in society in a positive manner, allowing contribution of their ideals and values to others.

Having good living conditions can help impact the students studies in college. For a student that chooses to live on campus, they would be assigned a roommate. They have to accommodate to each other, and the new space they are living. This is also giving them the change to meet knew people. Meeting new people can lead to joining study groups, club, and maybe even a soul mate. The support of others can help drive the student to their best abilities If he/she chooses to live off campus they will have the luxury of quietness and as much privacy as he/she chooses. A student would also have plenty of space instead of a condensed

The most significant effect of living away from home is the independent behavior that grows inside of you. Living on your own far from your family gives you a lot of experiences toward organizing your life. Since it is up to you and no one else to go to school, clean your room, wash your clothes, and organize your expenses, it is predictable that you will have a good and strong meaning of responsibility. Being independent and responsible will help you get through life every goal you want to achieve.

The study was conducted with a 23 question questionnaire that asked about 15 stress elements as well as 18 other supporting elements. The purpose was to see what the primary stressors were as part of the moving experience and in turn what mechanisms were useful in dealing with the problem. Responses were given on a one to five scale with one being least stressful or supportive and 5 being the most stressful or supportive. Participants were also able to say if questions were irrelevant. The primary factors to me measured were taken from a study with forty male and female adolescents who had recently undergone a relocation and were asked for context with their experience. Items that were found in five or more interviews were added to the questionnaire. The researchers then conducted another study with 90 participants from age 10-18 who had moved in the past year to determine whether the questionnaire was reliable. Qualified candidates were then administered the questionnaire in groups of six to twelve with the experimenter present.
