Napoleon: A Brilliant Leader

During the French Revolution Napoleon Bonaparte was the leader of the French Republic. Napoleon crowned himself as emperor, and worked to take over all of Europe. He served his area for sixteen years. Napoleon was a dictator that held power over the french people because he was in love with power, liked people seeing him in charge, and he wants to be considered the perfect image to everyone.

Napoleon Bonaparte was one of the most successful leaders throughout history acquiring an enormous empire stretching from Belgium to the far side of the Adriatic Sea. In addition, Napoleon was a military genius and strategist as well as emperor of France, twice, once from 1804 to 1814 and then again in 1815 which started the 100 Days War. With all of his achievements Napoleon stands out with numerous competencies and attributes of a leader that are used and encouraged today and looking at his history one can see the positive impact that it had on the men he lead as well as the success that he made in conquest. As well as showing many positive leader attributes Napoleon also showed a few distasteful leadership attributes and characteristics that would not be excepted today and it is reflected in some of the problems that Napoleon had as a leader from using them.

Napoleon Bonaparte was an undeniably strong leader of France, however he was not truthful to his inferiors who gave him his power. Napoleon believed he was the master of France and that he had complete power of the country. He looked down upon his peers and the other citizens of France. Bonaparte gained his popularity by standing with the common people during the revolutionary period of France but did not continue with the views he expressed during this period when he became Emperor. Napoleon Bonaparte had many views and beliefs that made him an absolute dictator of France including, making every decision himself, being above everyone in the class systems, and manipulating the citizens of France.

Napoleon Bonaparte, an influential leader of France, was a man of many facets. On one the one hand, Napoleon was a strong leader who created durable institutions and strengthened France, but on the other, there is a more pitiful view of Napoleon. The view of Napoleon was initially very positive: he viewed himself as a protector of the people, and the people saw this too; however, over time, this image was greatly worsened, due to military hardship.

Napoleon was one of the most influential people in the history of the world. He has affected people throughout the globe in many ways. He rose through the confusion of the French revolution to become Emperor of the French. His goal was to conquer all of Europe. Through out his lifetime he nearly succeeded in his goal. Napoleon was probably one of the greatest military leaders that ever lived. Napoleon Bonaparte, who is also known as the "little Corsican", was born on August 15,1769 in Ajaccio, Corsica. Napoleon Bonaparte was a French military leader and eventual political leader in France who was able to seize power during the end of the French Revolution of the late 1790's and early 1800's. Napoleon was the leader of France from 1804 to 1815 and mostly remembered as a leader in a cycle of European battles. He institutionalized the changes brought about by the French Revolution and sought to spread them throughout Europe. It has been long debated the factors that allowed Napoleon to seize power and eventually crown himself emperor. Such factors that have been considered have been Napoleon's personality, his military exploits, the failings of the Directory, support of the people and army and even sheer luck.

Between 1796 and 1814, Napoleon rose through the ranks of the French army, and eventually became the Emperor of France from 1804 to 1814. During his rule, Napoleon took over most of eastern Europe, and other parts of western Europe. Napoleon conquered these countries, because he wanted to defend France, which was very cruel. On the other hand, Napoleon respected people's properties, religions, and customs. When he would receive criticism, though, he would want to restrict them, and anyone else, from publicly criticizing him again. Some people might think that he was a hero, while others, like me, saw him as a tyrant.

Was Napoleon a hero or was he a villain, well it's just not that black and white. He was more of a troubled hero because while he did capture many lands for France, he also slaughtered thousands throughout his career. He removed democracy from France when becoming a military dictator, and by doing so he went back to the system of rule which he opposed. When he was emperor he censored the press. Napoleon also did many great things for France he made it easier to administer and collect taxes, and he initiated public works such as harbors, canals, improving, and building roads.

Napoleon Bonaparte was always destined to be legend. Under his ambitious command, France, and perhaps the entire world, changed. He spread the ideas of enlightenment across the globe, using his military skill to bring it to neighboring countries. He ruled his people justly, and was a true hero among men; except that’s not entirely true. Napoleon is legend, no questions to be had there.

Napoleon was arguably one of the most important leaders France has ever had, but just because he was an important leader, does not mean he was a good leader. As a tyrant of France, Napoleon changed the was France governed the people and utilized the military.

In the late 1790’s, Napoleon Bonaparte was like the rest of the people in France—they were tired of war, revolution and violence. Led by Napoleon, they carried out a coup d’ etat. Napoleon was born on the island of Corsica in 1769 and he became an officer in France. He commanded in many battles and led France to victory with his brilliant tactics. However, he was a general with great ambition, who wanted to rule France.

This, however, did not stop Holt from lunging at him again. Napoleon was prepared this time and used his magic to hold the teenage boy in place. Breathing heavily, Napoleon glanced out at the students, who had taken this opportunity to get out of their seats and bang on the door. Napoleon snickered madly.

Napoleon Bonaparte was a very great military leader. He was also an emperor who took over much of Europe in the early 1800s. Napoleon was born on an island called Corsica which is west of Italy. He had 8 surviving siblings including him who was the second. He later moved to France, attended school there and learned the French language. In 1785, he graduated from a French military academy. Napoleon started very small in the ranking of military but quickly rose through rankings. Napoleon fought in the French Revolution but he was on leave from the military when it started. He was at home in Corsica and there he got involved with the Jacobins. Napoleon gained political control of France in 1799 because of the coup d’état. He crowned himself as emperor in 1804. Napoleon was a, “shrewd, ambitious and a skilled military strategist.” (HISTORY) He was very successful in dominating his opponents and was able to expand his empire drastically. Napoleon was great at strategy, being a leader and had incredible charisma.

Napoleon’s career saw uncertainty after Robespierre’s fall. He was able to resurrect it after the National Convention was attacked by a mob and he was able to save it. For his bravery and courage he was promoted to the commander of the French army that was in Italy at the time. In Napoleon’s first real test he brought down four Austrian generals, he was fearless of any enemy no matter the size. This Austrian campaign where he defeated each army thrown his way was where he first showed his genius militarily. At this time is when he began his conquest over not only France but Europe as a whole.

Hear hear Comrades! It is time we all come to appreciate the great and mighty leader who is none other than Napoleon! Sure you can moan and belly-ache about the amount of work that has had to be done to keep the farm from going bankrupt and remain prospering, but it is he Napoleon who has truly made it prosperous with his grand leadership. Why without him we would still be in the villainous clutches of man, and not just any man - the wretched Mr. Jones.
