“Taylor!” yelled coach, “get your head in the game. We are about to face off the Vikings. We haven’t lost to this team in years. We will win! We can win! Ready boys, hands in. One! Two! Three! MUSTANGS!”
A series of hoots filled the locker room; I could feel the energy in the room. I felt confident in myself; after all I am the star quarterback for the team. So naturally I was taken back when I felt a pain running through my chest, but I couldn’t let coach know. I’ve been lifting, running, training, eating healthy, and exercising for weeks; I was in prime health. I was not going to let a little pain get in the way of me winning the last game of the season. Next year, I was expected to be the varsity quarterback. There is not turning around

“Gentleman, I want a clean game, nothing nasty. Home team,” the ref announced pointing towards the Vikings, “Away team,” pointing towards us. He showed us the coin to verify heads and tails and instructs the Vikings to call …show more content…
He gave a quick pep talk and shoved us back out on the field. The Vikings put out their biggest and fastest linebacker, who eyed me down with death glare. Max hiked the ball for one last time and before I knew it I was down and dizzy. I saw my hot girl and coach over top of me and the lights faded in and out and that was the all I could remember. In the beginning of the year, this calculus class seemed impossible, but now I was flying through my review packet despite the noise from the football game behind the house. I can’t stand football. All the fan boys and girls would yell loud and clear. They’d rush for the ball! And then! Oh, the noise! Oh, the noise! Noise! Noise! Noise! That’s one I hated! The NOISE! NOISE! NOISE! NOISE! Oh, Dr. Seuss, an incredible and incredibly underrated poet of our time. His rhymes always bring me joy, since I was a little boy. I need to focus; I have a calculus test tomorrow. I may be near death with my brain tumor, but that was not going to stop me from being a straight A student. I did my work, checked and doubled-checked. I looked up and saw the time was two am. I tried to focus again, but a throbbing head ache kept me distracted from
It was a casual Friday morning, a little bleaker and laid back and no one was in a rush to get to where they needed to go. I was moving along at my casual pace and the only difference i had felt that i hadn’t encountered throughout the previous mornings of my football games, were the butterflies in my stomach. I was nervous, and I don’t usually get nervous the morning of my football games. But I was, and I couldn’t get this desperate feeling in my stomach to go away. I had tried everything but my body knew, with Michael out a lot more responsibilities would be pointed towards me offensively and defensively. I was worried that I would make a mistake and cost our team an undefeated, hard-fought season we had spent hours getting better in.

burn and pillage their way across civilized Europe. During this period much progress was achieved in terms of Scandinavian art and craftsmanship, marine technology, exploration, and the development of commerce. It seems the Vikings did as much trading as they did

The U.S history goes far back yet we been honoring the wrong man for this discovery. Every year we thank Columbus for what he did in 1492, but do you know what really happened on those month/ years Columbus spent in North America. Columbus only murdered Millions and only was in the “Discovery” game was just for gold. The real person we should thank is Leif Erikson A Viking who rightfully claimed the land in the early 1000ands. Leif Erickson was a Viking from Greenland and sailed to many places and accidentally landing in North America. Leif Erickson spent the winter their building a base for his expedition after the winter he traveled back to Green land Never to return. He named this new world Vineland due to its excessive Grapevines. After
The word Viking in the Webster’s Encyclopedic Unabridged Dictionary of the English Language says that the word Viking means the following. “Vi•king 1. any of the Scandinavian pirates who plunder the coasts of Europe from the 8th to 10th centuries. 2. a sea-roving bandit: pirate. 3. a Scandinavian. 4. U.S. Aerospace. One of a series of space probes that obtained scientific information about Mars.” (1)
I showed up in uniform to tell my coach of the news I had received from the doctor. He gave me back a response that was the perfect sentiment I needed to hear "That’s terrible man, that’s nothing you can take lightly but you are a part of this team so you are still gonna be with us all the way through even if you cant get on the field,". That’s exactly what I did too. I stayed with my team and went all the practices and every game. I participated as much as I could without over working my arm. None of it was ever enough for me though. None of it was ever as sweet as actually being apart of real baseball and being apart of the wins. It was soon time for the next appointment where there was no good news. The doctor said if there was anything to be done it required immediate surgery. This felt like great news, finally getting something done and going back to the game I love. I went through surgery, and the doctor told he did everything he needed to do to fix what was believed to be the problem. I began the healing process as soon as I could and I went to all my physical therapy sessions with one goal. To get back on the field. Little did I know that there had been no progress inside my elbow and I required an additional surgery. Of course I was ready for anything it took to get back to baseball. So another surgery, more physical therapy, and the entire healing process over again. All of it goes by with one thing on my
Before I got a chance to say how absurd that is the referee called for kick off, so I just gave an uncertain nod and jogged to my position. Thinking about what my coach had just said to me I actually chuckled a little bit.
Compare and contrast the Frankish annals AND the Irish annals as sources for Viking history.
It was September 16th, 2014, and I was in the most stressful situation in my life. If I could lead my team down the field and score a touchdown, I would earn the starting job as a quarterback! I was sweating and shivering, with my muscles twitching. I dreadingly glanced at the scoreboard. Down 24-19, 2 timeouts remaining, 53 seconds left after the defense miraculously got a safety. I looked up. The sun shone bright, but the falling leaves danced in the air, almost daring me to let the ball fly.
The air smelling of wings and burgers whipped my hair behind my ears as my dad’s best friend threw me up on his shoulders in celebration. Adrian Peterson had just rushed two yards for the Viking’s fourth touchdown of the night. Five minutes to go in the quarter and the NFC Championship game was tied. A combination of anticipation and excitement swirled within me as my dad and uncle are discussing our Super Bowl XLIV tickets. The energy permeating through the G-Allen’s Restaurant and Sports Bar was electrifying as Ryan Longwell of the Minnesota Vikings kicked off to Courtney Roby with 4:52 left in the fourth and final quarter.
In the year 793 AD began the greatest reign of terror ever spawned in Europe. The Vikings ruled Northern Europe until 1066 AD and managed to pillage forth into Asia, Southern Europe, and further westward where they’d eventually find the Americas. Vikings were the most brutal of people; however, they were also very loving to their families, especially their wives. They were also brave and creative. They had a culture much more interesting than our own today. The Vikings were better than people are today because they are known for being strong and wise, but the greatest thing the Vikings are known for is the fear they placed among even the great nations of England, France and the Holy Roman Empire.
My adrenaline coursed through my body and my nerves were at an all time high as I was finally getting to play in my first game as a Varsity Wildcat. All my hard work had led up to this moment and there was no way I was going to mess it up. The all too familiar smell of the fresh cut grass made me feel comfortable at that moment and I lined up as the strong side linebacker and got ready for the play to start. Steam filled my helmet and my breathing got gradually quicker and quicker. The quarterback hiked the ball and I knew exactly what play they were running. I threw myself into the gap I needed to and made the tackle, but as I headed to the ground there was a violent crackling in my right knee. The whistle blew again and I tried to stand up, but I couldn’t. A flurry of emotions flooded my brain: fear, anxiety, pain, sadness, regret. When the trainer got me to the bench to see what had gone, wrong he determined that I had torn my Meniscus and I would be out for the season. All my effort on the difficult, hot, summer practice all nulled from this one moment. All my aspirations of
They were marching down the field making one play after the other. “ Make a stop!” exclaimed the coach. Then we got the stop we were in great need of. It was 4th down, late in the 4th quarter. We left them with no choice but to pass the ball. They had a receiver who was about 6 feet tall and he was running right at me. I slowed him up from his route and Devon is standing right behind me intercepts the ball in the end zone. “ Don’t run! Take a knee!” shouted everyone on the team. As we came over to the sideline the whole team celebrated the
