By working in a public school setting, I hope to integrate aspects of assessment, counseling, research, and skill training to create individualized intervention plans, and provide an optimum learning environment for all students. After receiving the opportunity to work with children with exceptionalities at Camp MATES and the social skills groups, I was stunned to discover how underserved that population is. I was appalled by the obscene amounts of money parents pay for their children to receive services tailored to them and their exceptionalities and how difficult it can be to get into those programs. As a School Psychologist, I hope to make academic success more attainable for all students despite their socioeconomic background. My goal is to assess students who are struggling academically to find an educational method that suits their individual differences and be able to refer them to community resources if needed. My dream is to bridge the gap between home and school and promote supportive environments in both that migrate seamlessly. The Comprehensive School Counseling Program Notebook which follows the ASCA National Model third edition was created in School Counseling Programs. This notebook is divided into four components as directed by the comprehensive school counseling program: foundation, delivery, management, and accountability. The Foundation section includes my core beliefs, my vision, my mission, rationale, description, and goals of the program at Mountain Home Junior School. For this assignment I reached out to an instructor at Lakeland College who is also a professional school counselor named Wendy Falk. Wendy was happy to complete an interview with me and provided information about herself including what assessments she uses, her theoretical orientation, and why these assessments are used. Wendy also spoke about her school counseling position, a difficult case she was presented with, and her opinion on the use of assessments. Additional research was conducted to learn more about the assessments she discussed.

The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) is the division of the American Counseling Association (ACA) that supports the development of professional school counselors. It published the ASCA National Model (2012), which provides a framework for a comprehensive school counseling program that includes four quadrants: Foundation, Delivery, Management, and Accountability. Our focus was determined by The School Improvement Team (SIT) based on recommendations from the Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) provided by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) and shared in part A of AAPSL. Literacy skills is the focus and the improvement of literacy skills is our instructional aim in order to improve English II EOC scores. Therefore, instruction that is relevant and rigorous will be used to improve testing.

Standard three confronts the topic of Middle Level Philosophy and School Organization. Teachers must use their knowledge to enhance learning for all students (race, ethnicity, age, culture, sexual orientation, etc.) and a way to do this is through developmentally responsive programs. Counseling programs allow teachers and guidance counselors to work together to help improve the negative stages of growth for 10-15 year olds. Middle level professionals work as one to serve as advocates, address special needs, help adolescents to make sound choices, help further cognitive and academic goals, address psychosocial needs and promote transition between elementary and secondary schools.

School counselors use data to, “identify school counseling program goals; monitor student progress to close the achievement gap; assess and evaluate programs; demonstrate school counseling program effectiveness (Young, 2013).” The purpose of assessments are to identify and plan school counseling programs that align with the mission of schools. School counselors assist students individually to help with academic, personal/social or career concerns. One helps student establish goals as well as develop plans. School counselors conduct informal assessments by interviewing students to obtain information about their current problem or situation.

There were several reasons for conducting this needs assessment. The first reason was to address the multi-sensory needs of preschool children. It is important to address this because during their early years, children learn by exploring their surroundings. Thus, preschoolers need a structured sensory environment that not only stimulate their senses but also teaches them new development skills such as cause and effect (Messauber, 2012). The second reason for this needs assessment was to learn more about the benefits of sensory rich environment for preschoolers. There is limited evidence based research about the effectiveness of MSE on preschoolers. Thus, the implementation of a sensory basket would provide us with information about how

Behavioral Counselors must collaborate with school counselors to understand the impact that school and teachers have on the child’s life. To appreciate School Counseling a review of the specialization’s history is important. School Counselors have evolved from vocational guidance and job-orientated counseling following World War I to educational guidance following World War II due to the passing of the GI bill as veterans were given right to education counseling (Minkoff, 1985). Today School Counselors support a wide variety of needs from a wide variety of student populations including but not limited to depression, college guidance, anxiety, oppositional disorder and developmentally delayed due to change in access to mental health care being more privatized (Lockhart & Keys, 1998). Lockhart states that because of the restructuring in access to care school counselors have been pushed to handle a wider variety of needs within mental health (1998).

Target Audience Analysis: In this stage we try to find users for our website and work out what they need from our website and their requirement so that we can provide them. There can be different type of audience with different requirement and interest. People can be visitors, employees, client and people seeking information regarding me and my website.

The purpose for a needs assessment is to determine the gaps between current conditions and desired conditions. A needs assessment is a critical part of the planning process which provides individuals with the opportunity for improvement, education, and training. In order to gather the information required to improve employees’ performance, an analysis of the work environment is a key aspect to creating better conditions. The company that is being assessed is Siemens and efforts by the company to maximize efficiency are under evaluation. The desired outcome of a needs assessment is to develop a business strategy that integrates the company’s actions, goals, and policies. The ability to have a functional organization with employees operating
