After looking back on the success we had from creating Coachella, Rick and I decided to try to replicate it this summer in New York City. When we visited, we noticed that the street musicians in the city are extremely talented, and we feel that they are immensely overlooked und underappreciated. We want to incorporate the talent in the city in our music festival. We scouted out countless probable locations where we could hold the festival, but the top two came out to be the Brooklyn Bridge and the New York Subway. We need to make our decision soon about which location to hold the event because summer is coming up quickly. We have lots of work to do!
Criteria:
Ability to Attract a Crowd: In addition, the crowd is an essential part of the music festival. The size of the crowds is important because the purpose of the music festival is for the street musicians to get exposure and for the others to view their talent. Without large crowds, the musicians will not get any exposure, and the city will not appreciate their talent. Rick commented on the fact that betwixt the arrival of the trains, the music could be amplified throughout the station, but it would be muted by the ruckus coaxed by the incoming trains. Therefore, the musicians need to play in short intervals. The scheduling of the songs around the train schedule may pose a challenge to our team, but I think it is manageable. I hope that that we will not experience the frequent breakdowns and spotty arrival times as described by Yona Zeldis McDonough. Also, we must factor in the echo of the voices of the train riders into the overall noise level of the subway station. All in all, this puts the the New York Subway at a 5 and an overall score of a
