The Canadian Red Cross Society is a non-governmental organization that provides food, water, shelter, and survival gear to those in need. I think that they are very helpful because not only do they help Canadians in need, but they also donate the money to help other countries around the world that suffer from medical problems, life-threatening diseases, recent natural disasters...etc. They have programs in different cities, some of the programs include aboriginal support services, community housing support, community support services, emergency and disaster services, first aid and CPR, health equipment loans, migrant and refugee services, nutrition and transportation, senior support services, swimming and water safety, violence, bullying and
For decades, America has fought in many different wars with the need of health assistance for their soldiers. The American Red Cross is a worldwide organization that helped during the times of war but also provided a path for scientific advancements. Through the American Red Cross and other organizations of this time, they opened up the doors for women to take the chance to advance in the medical field by participating in scientific experiments and being at the aide of wounded soldiers. During this time of scrutiny, the Great War was a hidden opportunity for the encroachment of medical research with the contribution to the expansion of nursing.

To begin, let’s start with a little history of the Red Cross. It was founded by Clara Barton in 1881 during the Civil War. Barton was originally working as a record’s clerk, however she had an understanding that there was a need to provide assistance to the men in uniform. Some were injured, some were hungry, and some were in need of clothing. After discovering many of the wounded soldiers were men she knew, she began collecting supplies on behalf of the U.S. Sanitary Commission. Barton didn’t just provide supplies for the soldiers, however, she wrote letters for them, lifted their spirits, listened to their problems, and prayed alongside them. She also did a lot of work on the battlefield to assist medical military units, often bringing much needed supplies, as well as tending to wounded soldiers.
The American Red Cross Association which still helps people today. Eleven years ago hurricane Katrina caught everyone by surprise. The Red Cross responded by having, “More than 245,000 Red Cross disaster workers assisted millions of people with…basic needs. The Red Cross provided more than 3.8 million overnight stays in shelters… served more than 68 million meals and snacks… [and] provided emergency financial assistance to 1.4 million families”(“Red Cross”). This proves that Clara Barton’s amazing organization is still helping millions today. She organized the Red Cross to help people after her many hardships and war experiences. The organization still helps people in the hardest parts of their lives. The Red Cross helps with mental and physical health, assisting people in recovery plans, behavioral programs to help the vulnerable, and making sure survivors, of all situations, make a good recovery. The American Red Cross helps people when they need it most. The program helps people with every social, political, ethical, and health background and status. The program helps people get out of a big unexpected turns in their lives when they needed it most. “The American Red Cross shelters, feeds, and provides support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that saves lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports
As John F. Kennedy said, “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”. This world does not survive on only looking out for ourselves and the Salvation Army has proved that. We all need help once in awhile in some way. It becomes full circle once it is realized that in order to help ourselves, we must as help those around us. The Salvation Army is partnered with a number of different groups to include Project Able, Family and Emergency Services, Angel Tree, Spirit of Giving and Red Kettles (Salvation Army Representative Discusses
The NCAA is a non-profit organization that organizes and executes college sports, which includes football, basketball, etc. Key word from the previous sentence would be “non-profit organization”. What kind of “non-profit organization” makes as much money as they do? The NCAA players bring in great revenue with their outstanding efforts in bringing their team up to the top, because that is what the fans like to watch. Now does it seem fair that the NCAA does not give the players back any money at all to the players that actually bring the money in? In simple terms the NCAA makes large amounts of profits and needs to start distributing some of the money to the players (History of College Basketball, 2013). According to another article, the

As a non-profit organization, our company has been profoundly doing well in helping raise money for families. Being with an organization which is committed to providing assistance to families in impoverished towns is very generous. Although, there is a concern I would like to address regarding using certain data we are using in our annual reports. The company uses pie charts to display data and prefers one type of pie chart over the other. I feel that we should use the pie chart which demonstrates the percentages.
The Charity Organization Society was based in the scientific movement of organizations. Workers believed that charity work needed more definition and organization and that charity should be focused more on individual need rather than as a whole population. Focusing on individual need was intended to improve relief operations while making resources more efficient. They also intended to eliminate public outdoor relief. With the promotion of more organization and efficiency the new Charity Organization Societies were born. Trattner states that these new requirements for organization and efficiency spread so “rapidly that within 6 years 25 cities had such organizations and by the turn of the century there were some 138 of them in
