My parents have always emphasized the importance of collecting and analyzing data. They once brought me to a stock exchange to watch how all the values change in real-time, and they explained that stock traders need to collect, analyze, and interpret millions of data points in order to understand whether the stock prices will rise or fall. Since then, they have inspired me to see things through the lens of a data scientist. Whether I am reading news articles online, following the stock market, or doing any other activity, I try to examine the underlying data to grasp an even deeper understanding. At North Carolina State University, I applied my passions toward a double major in statistics and economics. Both of these fields share a common principle of data-driven research and analysis. My goal is to continue my studies through the Advanced Analytics program at North Carolina State University. Outside of the classroom, my work experience strengthened my ability to approach and solve challenges. In the banking industry and New Mind Education, I expanded my ability to work in teams and learned to apply principles from statistics to craft common, yet catered, solutions for the customers. By modeling customer requests into classes of problems, I generalized them into different groups and could solve them together …show more content…
At Aohey LLC, I learned to program in HTML and used SAS in a real world problem to migrate client production databases to online cloud-stores. Although I had previously used them in college, I realized that there was a huge difference in both breadth and depth of learning between using them in real world applications versus while working on a college project. My full-time data entry job after graduating from university further reinforced the idea that although I had built a strong foundation of skills, I am ready to continue to develop my expertise in the area of data
Growing up in a small rural area in Western North Carolina, the opportunities to explore the real world have had limits. The once dominant textile industry that existed disappeared as a result of the recession. The already low-middle income laborers lost their jobs and the unemployment rate grew substantially until we were the poorest county in North Carolina. I would only point out that not only did I live in an impoverished area, I was one of the few minorities that lived there as well and found myself to be the only one of my skin complexion in my courses. Living in a small area limited the different perspectives of that went through my mind, leaving me to believe that hardly anything exists beyond the borders of my county with the slogan Small Town Friendly.
Watching my friends’ face quiver in disgust after recounting my experience of a videofluoroscopicy and my excitement from viewing the barium travel through the oropharyngeal and pharyngeal phases of swallowing, I realized I wanted to study the extraordinary field of Communication Sciences and Disorders. During my undergraduate career at East Carolina University, my anatomy and physiology class further fostered my enthusiasm for the field when discovering how intricate and complex it is for the human body to perform a simple task such as breathing and swallowing. I was able to utilize my thirst for knowledge of the human anatomy working in Dr. Perry’s Speech Imaging and Visualization Laboratory and enhance my writing skills by reviewing peer reviewed journal articles. Ultimately working and observing lab assistants create 3D anatomical models of the laryngeal mechanism, velopharyngeal mechanism, swallowing mechanism, skull and cranium,
As a transfer student, I want to feel California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) such as my home. Being ambassador, it is the best to learn about my school, share my experiences, motivate other students to work towards their goals, look for help if they need, show other students our school's resources, and make others feel special for being part of CSUF.

I am currently a sophomore undergraduate Marketing major and Digital Studies minor. If I receive the scholarship the financial contributions NSCS has provided will be of great assistance in paying my educational expenses. I plan to study aboard in Spain over the summer to study Spanish and International Business. With help from the generous scholarship, I will be one step closer to achieving my educational and career goals. I believe I deserve to earn the scholarship because my involvement at the University of Mary Washington depicts my dedication and persistence in giving back to the school and the community while putting my education to good use. One way in which I am using my education to enrich my time at UMW is through my work with Community Outreach and Resources. My time at COAR has given me a deep appreciation for how volunteerism
Throughout my time in the military and in civil service, I have cultivated a strong business expertise. Educationally, I have an undergraduate and a graduate degree in business management. One of the actions of a Cemetery Director at any facility is to review and verify the accuracy of all processes to determine if the cemetery is operating in accordance with NCA policies and directives. My challenge as the director of LINC was to improve cemetery accountability and adherence to NCA policies and directives by updating and revising all written internal standard operating procedure and policies. I focused on providing the cemetery staff with accurate procedural practices, tools, and equipment to accomplish their daily tasks. During my review,
I feel by attending at Colorado Christian University will give me opportunity to advance my career with Frontier Communications. I am wanting to go into training which requires intensive communication skills along with leadership and organizational skills. I also want to continue my education to display and model to my 2 children that you can reach your goals no matter what obsicles that may come to try to deter you. I was pregnant with my first child at 15 years of age. The struggle from having a child at a young age was a very difficult and challenging time in my life. During that time I had no thoughts of continuing my education beyond high school. Some days I had no energy, I no focus, and even determination, I was at a point where I was only surviving day to day was
I am a currently a Junior, at Warren New Tech High School, and I just started my second semester. I am a hardworking student, who likes to maintain her academics, as high as possible. I used to always get A and B Honor Roll (Freshmen and Sophomore year), but so far this year I have been able to make Principal’s List, this was during my first semester. I am really hoping that I will get accepted into North Carolina State University (NCSU), it’s considered as my top choice and they have a really significant Agriculture Program. I know how important it is to actually get a scholarship, when you are applying these top colleges, especially if you don’t have a resource for that kind of money. I have gotten very interested in working with farm animals, and I have started my own farm (just chickens now, but more animals will soon come). I also work part-time at a reality, here in North Carolina, on the lake with my
Hard work and dedication are qualities that are invaluable both in school, in other endeavours and even in our personal lives. However, those around me describe me for my traits that further exemplify my character; someone who is independent and passionate while being able to remain grounded and rational. My independence is especially evident in the challenges and projects I undertake outside of school. Cycling has been a significant part of my life for the past five years, and has been an endeavour that I have worked towards independently. I have researched and created training plans, set goals and reached them myself.
I am thrilled to apply for the Client Service Internship role at APCO Worldwide in Raleigh, NC. I first learned about APCO Worldwide last fall after I heard some of your employees, Caitlin Cyphert and Travis Bullard speak at PRSSA events. Upon hearing Caitlin and Travis talk about the company culture at APCO, I went home to do my own research and discovered that APCO was the kind of company I have always dreamed of working for. I knew right then and there that I wanted to seek out any internship opportunities that APCO Raleigh offered.
I am a senior in high school in small town North Carolina. I am 17 years old, and I am motivated, self-reliant, and resolute. I have worked hard my entire life to exceed the expectations of my teachers, parents, and peers. Until this point, I thought I had succeeded. Apparently, I did not do well enough…
Within one and a half year at EXL, Management reco gnized me as a star performer with excellent analytical, programming and communication skills and promoted me to the post of Assistant Manager. Post promotion, I led the rebuild of Probability of Default Impairment Forecasting Model under the IAS39 accounting standards for one of the high materiality credit card portfolios. Exploratory analysis of portfolio default trends revealed that the existing models were underpredicting the impairment loss. We revised the model methodology and generated an impact of over 100 million USD on impairment provision of the banks. Here, I leveraged my leadership skill to train team members, technical skills to design efficient SAS code automating model development process across products, and
Through my work experience, I have had the opportunity to think creatively, learn the importance of team work, develop leadership skills, and cultivate, all preparing me for graduate studies. As a supplement to
