The Northwest Ordinance is considered if not, one of the most important legislative acts of the Confederation Congress. Officially titled “An Ordinance for the Government of the Territory of the United States North West of the River Ohio” the Northwest Ordinance was a document adopted by the Confederation Congress. Sometimes known as the Ordinance of 1787, adopted July 13, 1787, by the Second Continental Congress established a government for the Northwest Territory. This ordinance outlined the process for admitting a new state into the Union, and guaranteed that the newly created states would in fact be equal to all original thirteen states, the Northwest Ordinance also focused on protecting civil liberties and completely outlawed slavery within the new territories. Adopting the Northwest Ordinance ended a long bitter period of debating how to organize the western territories of the United States.

Since the colonization of Canada First Nations people have been discriminated against and assimilated into the new culture of Canada through policies created by the government. Policies created had the intentions of improving the Aboriginal people’s standard of living and increasing their opportunities. Mainly in the past hundred years in Canadian Society, policies and government implemented actions such as; Residential schools, the Indian Act, and reserve systems have resulted in extinguishing native culture, teachings, and pride. Policies towards the treatment of Aboriginal Canadians has decreased their opportunities and standard of living because of policies specified previously (Residential schools, the Indian Act, and reservation systems).
Faragher, Buhle, Cziyron and Armitage ( 2010) note the westward development into the new territories of the United States usually took place in three stages; trade, settlement and statehood. The speed at which this expansion occurred reinforced America's sense of themselves as a pioneering people. This experience worked to create a belief that the United States was a nation of adventurous, optimistic, and democratic people (p. 357).
Conflict between Canada and the First Nations has been going on since the Europeans first arrived. After their arrival the First Nations way of life was hindered severely; The Europeans brought many diseases that the Aboriginal people were unfamiliar with and had no resistance to, or cure for. “By the 16th century about 80% of Canada's Native population had died from the various diseases (Renneboog, 5).” The Europeans also came to Canada with the intentions of taking all of the land for themselves, disregarding the people who occupied the land before them. Over time the Europeans had manipulated the First Nations to their will and the Aboriginals were discriminated for their different complexion, culture, customs, and way of life. But
Canadian Arctic Sovereignty is currently a pressing issue has raised many questions about who owns and who has control over the Arctic and its precious resources. The posing question is; to what extent should Canada protect its Arctic Sovereignty? There are many reasons why Canada must go forward in defending and protecting the Arctic to a moderate extent even though it will be a challenging mission considering that the Canadian military currently needs more resources in order to properly defend the Arctic. They must defend the population of Inuit that currently reside in the Arctic must be protected because their way of life is changing due to their changing landscape. The gain

The case being presented is the Kahkewistahaw First Nation v. Taypotat, which is a 2015 Supreme Court of Canada decision. The Kahkewistahaw First Nation developed an election code, which required that candidates who wished to be a Band Councilor or Chief must have achieved at least a grade 12 education (CanLII, 2015). The Chief for the majority of the previous three decades (27 years), 76 year old Louis Taypotat, had only attained a grade 10 education, which caused him to be disqualified from candidacy (CanLII, 2015). Taypotat opposed the process of the development of the election code, his disqualification, and the constitutionality of the election requirement (CanLII, 2015). His main argument was that the requirement for a candidate to possess a Grade 12 education violated section 15(1) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms which states that, “Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability”, and that educational attainment is analogous to race and age (Canadian Charter of Rights
The lands of Ohio and north were divided and sold to the people who could afford the land. The northwest ordinance was created in 1787. The ten districts that were created in 1774 were dissolved by the new ordinance and instead created a single northwest territory. Some of the guidelines of this ordinance include a minimum population of sixty thousand for statehood, freedom of religion, right to trial by jury, and outlawed slavery. Eventually the single territory was divided into three to five territories.

She has the choice of either investing 50 million in the weak Jackson mill or to invest more that 50 million in a new mill high demand area. The president has been informed of the many complaints from the managers and supervisors, but nothing seems to be the right solution.
