Cloning is the production of one or more individual organisms that are genetically identical. The copied organism, which has the same genetic code as the original, is called a clone. In the last two decades, cloning technology has been becoming more refined, and has been broadly applied in agriculture, human health, and many other fields. Breeding by cloning means being able to directly reproduce an animal with a desirable set of genetic traits. The world's most famous clone is Dolly the sheep, who was the first mammal to be cloned from an adult cell. This idea of being able to clone animals was encouraged by wanting to bring back extinct animals such as the wholly mammoth and dinosaurs, and maintain endangered species. Hence, it logically …show more content…
The Nuremburg Code indicates that the experiment should be set up in a way that avoids unnecessary physical and mental suffering and injuries. The Nuremburg Code also states that it should not be conducted when there is any reason to believe that it implies a risk of death or disabling injury (1). Human cloning violates these two principles because it involves the deliberate creation and killing of embryos of human beings.
I am in favor of banning human cloning. Not only does it violate the Nuremberg Code, but also other reasons related to human rights and the cloning technique we currently

This would avoid the long waits of searching for matched organs and the fear of even when receiving te donor organ, the body rejects it. However, in my opinion, this prevents scientists from focusing on developing other treatments using non-embryos cells to treat and cure diseases. Patient will be even suffering with the pain longer. No research has confirmed that cloned organs will develop the same as the original. During the therapeutic cloning, embryos will be killed to harvest the stem cells. Human embryo is the carrier of life. We are killing lives. Good ends do not mean that it is right to achieve that
Therapeutic cloning, unlike reproductive, is a lot more productive than harmful. The stem cells created from therapeutic cloning will have the potential to turn into many different types of body cells. Stem cells can replace worn out or damaged tissues and is an alternative to organ donation. It is less likely to result in rejection by the recipient because the tissue would be made from the recipients own genetic material. Like stated previously, therapeutic cloning does not involve the creation of a live human being.
Cloning is very unethical. It would be violating the human rights in many ways. It would be violating of the freedom of beliefs and thoughts (Peter Flaherty, and D. Lynn Moore. Civics. McGraw-Hill Ryerson, 2000) Cloning also reduces human dignity. Humans can be sold as manufactured products. If we allow
Another supplementary argument can be made on the topic of medical advancements made possible through the cloning process, mankind will be provided with organs and cells with which human’s lives will be saved. If a person needs an organ transplant the normal means of transplantation would involve the removal of an organ from another person. This organ could be rejected and many complications could arise, often with deadly repercussions. Human cloning would involve using the person’s own cells that could be cloned to produce a healthy, normal organ for use in the person. Through this process, there would be no
There should be no room to clone any human being nor animal. There is so much more to find out about our world then to test the non-achieved and inefficient process of cloning. Therefore I am against any type of cloning, whether therapeutic or reproductive. Andy vidak I write to you this letter, to give you a better understanding of why funding for cloning would set us back as a society. Genuinely I care about our future because I want our generation to be known as the one who did brilliant things. The excuse that cloning can potentially result in medical breakthrough is unacceptable because, like president George W. Bush said in his 2002 speech about human cloning, “We can pursue medical research with a clear sense of moral purpose.” (Office of the Press Secretary par. 12). Research cloning would contradict the most underlying principle of medical ethics, that no human life should be exploited for the convenience of another. For that reason I stand by
My believe stands on the fact that human cloning is wrong. With the low success rate it has, I do not think that cloning is reasonable. Most of cloning has taken place with animals which cannot take the place of a human being. There is a large room for error. What if the experiment goes wrong, then what? That person could either be at risk for death or other
There are two types of cloning, one of them is reproductive cloning which is when a whole organism is cloned and therapeutic cloning is the cloning of cells, organs or tissues. Cloning is when two cells decide or are forced to duplicate into two cells to replicate each other. Cloning can be done deliberately or naturally; and it results in two copies having identical cells, DNA, genes, organs and organisms. Cloning is a common, ongoing, debatable topic among society today. Many people argue about how future scientific advances in cloning will affect society. Most often people dislike the idea of cloning because it goes against their ethical beliefs, or because they are in fear of it ending up in the wrong hands. But sometimes when the
But even with vast technology, high risks are involved and the process is not guaranteed. For example, in order to procced with such a process, therapeutic cloning requires eggs in order to acquire stem cells. If scientist were performing this process for a particular disease, they would have to use a lot of eggs which is to this day causing an ongoing moral debate; and if a woman was to agree to donate an egg, she will have to pass through many painful processes and the procedure will be very costly.
Cloning is defined as the “creation of an exact copy of a living matter, such as a cell or organism” according to Encarta encyclopedia. The copies produced through cloning have identical genetic makeup and are known as clones. Scientists use cloning techniques in the laboratory to create copies of cells or organisms with valuable traits.
While some believe cloning to be acceptable others feel equally strongly that human cloning is completely wrong. With the state of the science as it is at the moment it would involve hundreds of damaged pregnancies to achieve one single live cloned baby. What is more, all the evidence suggests that clones are unhealthy and often have a number of built-in genetic defects, which lead to premature ageing and death. It would be completely wrong to bring a child into the world knowing that it was extremely likely to be affected by problems like these. The dignity of human life and the genetic uniqueness we all have would be attacked if cloning became commonplace. People might be
It is these errors, mistakes, and the resulting consequence that occurs from cloning animals, which must be understood to realize why it is immoral and unethical to try to clone humans.
Before the ethics of human cloning can be discussed, the mechanics of cloning must be understood first. Cloning is the process of making an exact genetic copy of an organism by a method called nuclear transplantation which is a process of removing a nucleus (the center of a cell which contains all of the biological information)
Many people have asked, "Why would anyone want to clone a human being?" There are at least two good reasons: to allow families to conceive twins of exceptional individuals, and to allow childless couples to reproduce. In a free society we must also ask, "Are the negative consequences sufficiently compelling that we must prohibit consenting adults from doing this?" We will see that in general they are not. Where specific abuses are anticipated, these can be avoided by targeted laws and regulations, which I will suggest below.
Many ethical and moral dilemmas arise when discussing human cloning, and one can have many positions for and against each. To understand the issues surrounding human cloning, one must have a basic
Scientific experimentation has led us to many great discoveries such as: Chemotherapy, heart surgery, and bone marrow transplants. Recently scientists have discovered a new way to heal humans. This is known as cloning. Although they have yet to clone a human they have cloned sheep. Cloning has brought up a huge controversy among the American people. There are two sides to the story. Either you agree with cloning or you don’t. The only way to help make that decision is to look at the good and bad points of cloning.
What would you say if I told you that scientists had just developed a new procedure that could lead not only to the cure for cancer, but would provide an unlimited source of organ donors and could lead to the first effective treatment of nerve damage? Now adding on to this scenario lets say that our government was taking action to ban this new procedure because of a few myths and some loud mouthed conservatives.
