Nursing Future Role

Ten years from now, I want to have a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and be able to practice on my own and to work with my community, helping families adopt a healthier lifestyle. Getting a graduate degree from this institution, I believe, will help me to enhance my skills and improve on my knowledge about health and nutrition, preventive medicine, and a host of other disciplines. It is my hope that one day; I will be able to open a clinic where members of my community can obtain relevant and timely information on health, nutrition, and a balanced lifestyle.

Change is constant in the health care system. When new evidence is proven to be better, it is being implemented to improve quality care (i.e. effective, safe, and efficient.) The change agent use leadership skills to affect change and bring the expertise and resources to the table to help create healthier and global communities. “The Nurse of the Future will influence the behavior of individuals or groups of individuals within their environment in a way that will facilitate the establishment and acquisition/achievement of shared goals (Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, 2010). After graduating from Blackhawk Technical College my nursing career will begin at St. Mary's Janesville Hospital as a surgical/pediatric nurse. I am excited to begin this journey within an organization I have been a part of since before the doors opened in January of 2012. St. Mary's Janesville is partnered with several colleges offering ADN to BSN degrees. My future goals include enrolling and completing an ADN to BSN degree program by December of 2020. In addition to earning my BSN by 2020, my goals also include obtaining my ACLS and PALS certificates within four months of hire.

I want to do a career in nursing, just registered nursing. I know for me to get into a career as a registered nurse, I need a Two-Year Associates Degree in nursing. I could also go for a Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree for RN or to get my BSN (Bachelors in Science and Nursing.) This really is the only type of career that interest me.

The Future of Nursing Goals will not only have an impact on healthcare but will have an impact on nursing itself. We are facing a future with increased patient loads and decreasing primary care physicians. Therefore, increasing the need for mid-levels and Nurse Practitioners. I think the future of nursing will necessitate that entry level nurses be BSN prepared with a commitment to lifelong continued education.

Receiving a post-secondary education will benefit me by providing the knowledge and skills I need to become a skillful pediatric nurse. As a child, my passion was always to become a nurse to provide holistic care for children not only in my community but around the world to medically underserved populations. To reach my goal, I plan to attend Miami Dade college for two years at the medical campus to become a Registered nurse and earn my Associate of nursing degree, afterwards pass the NCLEX-RN exam. Posterior to graduate, I will transfer to the Duke University school of nursing in North Carolina to earn my Bachelor of science nursing degree.

To become a nurse you need to have a bachelor's degree or associate's degree in nursing it all depends on what type of nurse you want to be, there are different kinds of nurses. Throughout my life, I’ve had many future career interests like becoming a teacher, dentist, and even an astronaut. Once, when I was with my friend in the hospital for her concussion, I was sent out of her room and I ended up having to wait outside. As I waited, I realized how intrigued I was while watching all the different things that the nurses and doctors were doing. I knew at that point what I wanted to be when I grew up, a nurse, but more specifically, a registered nurse.

My major is pre-nursing and I hope to attend nursing school in the near future. In nursing school, I would be studying for a bachelor’s degree in nursing and become a registered nurse. Registered nurses do not have a speciality they work instead they “…provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members”("Registered Nurses”). Being a registered nurse is not my career goal, my ultimate would be to become an advanced practice nurse, which is the echelon nurses. The world needs these reliable, loving, skilled, and dedicated individuals. On average they attend to twenty people a day all with different health problems. Hospitals, home care, doctors’ offices, nursing homes, and many more places depend on nurses. The nursing career field opens many doors to work. Depending on what career chosen they all come with different requirements. Some careers might require more or less education than others and a variety of skills could be along with on the job training. Nursing takes someone who is truly dedicated to their job. Nurses always need to look for a way to comfort someone and have compassion for helping others. They should have patients and the desire to better others.

When I was a kid, I dreamt of being a doctor. No matter what game I was playing, I always tried involving the roles of doctors. Growing up I knew this is what I wanted to do. This is what interested me. As I got older I turned more to nursing and I can see myself doing this. Nurses have to be graduated from college nursing program and passed a national licensing exam. Nurses take tasks to take care for their patients on the daily. They keep medical records, provide mediation, they talk with other help care providers, monitor patients, and give educational information to families. Being a nurse definitely has its pros and cons.
