The Guardian's "America's problems aren't Obama's fault. They're George W Bush's" (Aug. 30, 2016) by Richard Wolffe argues that Obama is not to blame for America's current problems, it is George Bush that we should blame. The author supports his argument by providing supporting details throughout his text; however, he does not "counter" all of the possible counterclaims, or even acknowledge them. This text was written by the author in order to convince (or inform) you that Obama is not to blame for the current problems that America faces, George Bush is. After reading the text's "lecture-like" tone/voice, the author, Richard Wolffe, possibly aims at an audience that wants to know the true nature of this countries current
Obama also addressed his counterclaim which states that some kids might have not have the advantages or opportunities that he or other kids had or maybe you do not have the support from others . Another way you situation can affect your education is if you live in a neighborhood that is not safe. His refutation stated that those types of situations and environments should not affect your choices in your future and your education and also he provided examples of students that did not let their environment affect them and he was also an example. He wants all schoolchildren to take action and do something to help their future and he uses rhetorical appeals to help his case.
It is ambiguous as to how President Barrack Obama shapes our politics in terms of our political regime, but it can be determined through the present outcomes of his leadership today. In The Politics Presidents Make, by Stephen Skowronek, describes that there is a life-cycle of inaugurated presidents through the history of the United States. A political regime is defined as a full cycle of presidents that induce change in our politics until it is repeated again. Through this, it is possible to determine where President Obama would stand in our political time. Skowronek also mentions four leadership categories in which past presidents are placed in: politics of reconstruction, politics of disjunction, politics of
President Barack Obama has been written into the history books for becoming the first African American president of the United States. The president plans on changing history again by bringing universal health care into the United States, which has won him much popularity among Democratic voters. His fans adore his speeches but raise many red flags for the majority of America. Major concerns Americans have with President Obama’s two proposed health-care bills are that health-care options will no longer be available along with the real cost of Obamacare, and small businesses. As many Americans believe Presidents Obama’s health-care plan is what the United States has needed for decades, considering he did get elected, his polices will prove to be a nuisance for the United States.
Susceptible to manipulation, some American people have become so influenced by their political parties, the parties’ opinions trample original thought. As Kevin Drum comments, Republicans “hate the idea that Barack Obama is responsible for a pretty successful program,” and “they
The entire editorial board at the New York times decided to cooperate on an op-ed piece covered on Donald Trump concerning his post election actions and decisions. The Op-Ed was titled “What President Trump Doesn’t Get About America” and was published on the New York Times on January 20, 2017. The rhetorical situation behind the piece is the after-effects of Mr. Trump's official inauguration which took place on the same date the Op-Ed was published. The author's purpose and intended audience is to inform and persuade the American people that America was and will be fine even with some of the so-called harsh executive decisions of Trump.
With this year being the year that a new president takes over, there has been a lot of news surfacing that may or may not be true. When looking at an article we must look at different criteria of things like the facts used, names mentioned, publication dates, and altogether the article and what it is saying.
America is our home so we need to take care of it. If we don´t respect and care for our country, it will fall apart. We need to be responsible and make decisions that help our country become the best it can be rather than hinder it. I believe that it is our responsibility to follow the laws set in our constitution and follow our own morals.
My responsibility to America is something I've never thought about before. I've never taken the time to look at everything that this country has given me, and what I need to give back to it. Now that I have started thinking about what this country has done not only for me, but the people around me; I have realized that for my sake, and my future family, I want to get out of here as soon as I can. I don't want to live in a country that decides that it is a better idea to supply money to the oil companies that go into other countries and create problems which lead to war, rather then using that money to give the veterans that are out on the street a place to live and food to eat. I don't want to live in a country where healthcare doesn't come
Schaeffer states, “President Obama has been lied about, attacked, vilified, and disrespected since Day One” (“Slow Lynching”). This could not be truer. No other presidential candidate has been demanded by the public to produce a birth certificate. Some schools even distributed opt-out forms to students so that parents could prohibit their children from watching the President’s “Back-to- School Speech”, a speech that is not political in nature but rather encourages children to work hard and pay attention in school. Obama was unfairly criticized before he even took office, let alone actually pass and
(Marcus, Paragraph 12) She tells that he did not have words to describe Obama’s statement and choices; therefore, he could not give an honest opinion on any of the fiscal matters. (Marcus, Paragraph 13) This gives a great example to the main point of the article. Where is Obama in today’s issues. What is he doing to help our nation? He fails to do as he said he would while he was running. Marcus does an outstanding job in writing this by explaining her position in the matter and giving her honest opinion. Although she could have used many more examples she did well with the work she had. She was very convincing with her argument and did well presenting her outlook on Obama. Marcus left it open for the reader to form their own judgement of Obama’s
To start off Obama’s action blatantly ignores the separations of powers and the principle our country was founded on.(cnn.com) This tells me that Obama is not the right person to have the powers that others have had, because he hasn’t been on top of what he should be doing. Next to that, in the article it stated, “President Obama is not above the law and has no right to issue executive amnesty.”(cnn.com) This shows me if he is not above or thinking about the law how are we supposed to be safe? He needs to show the people why they voted for him. Furthermore, president Obama has said 22 times he does not have the power to legislate on immigration.(cnn.com) This is important because it tells us that Obama is not the right person to have the powers that others have hard. It tells me that because he hasn’t been on top of what he should be
populations does not see the change but don’t want to point the finger at Barack Obama. While
In the editorial article “George W. Bush’s Damaging Legacy” and the two articles written by Mead, Bush’s legacy is portrayed negatively in many ways. The editorial makes the claim that Bush is to be blamed for invading Iraq with questionable motives leading to 37,000 soldiers injured or killed. Also the Bush Administration’s legalization of the inhumane torture of captives is unacceptable. It states that Bush had no right to go to war in Iraq because there was no direct threat to the United States. In Part One of Mead’s article, he parallels the editorial by stating that even though Suddam Hussein was captured and killed after the war, even that didn't justify Bush’s decision to attack overseas. Various failures in international diplomacy, strategy, and conviction to the people are proof that Bush messed up. Mead clarifies how important and necessary all of these issues are when involved in a
The American elections of 2012 was very competitive between the Democrat candidate Barrack Obama, who was the president then, and Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate. The campaigns and presidential debates were quite heated and as has been earlier mentioned, it was tight for each of them as polls clearly indicated that both Obama and Romney had more or less an equally high chance of winning the presidential elections. Demographics played a significant part in seeing Obama take the day. The groups of people that actually made the difference include groups of young women, African Americans, Hispanics and Asian Americans. Some of the states in which Obama won include New York, New Jersey, New Mexico,
Charles M.Blow is an American OP-ED columnist who is a journalist for “The New York Times”. Blow has worked for the The New York Times for 24 years and publishes weekly.Furthermore, half of Mr. Blows writing you'll often find Blow discussing the “oh so perfect” president, and from his articles you can distinctly see that he is not on the “make America great” train, he's on the “Trump is the worst, let's put an end to this”, train. In his article Blow does not just nag about Trump sucks and ends it there, Blow provides statements why Trump is the racist, white supremacist, sexist, unpresidential president that he is, then has facts to back it up.Making the argument of Trump is a bad president and we need to put an end to it, in which in my view
