suit. They got their car that was parked in the parking structure and went off to go explore the new city that they would hopefully call home for the rest of their lives. They found one of the best pizza places to eat in New York and sat down to eat because it was really packed and from the outside there was people standing outside. After they went to go check out where the mighty brooklyn dodgers played which was a day that they had a game against the giants, their rivals. They weren't gonna see the game but they pulled to the side right in front of the stadium while the game was going on. You could feel the energy of the crowed going off inside that way they could get their game. They got off the car and you could see inside the stadium …show more content…
They enjoyed the whole game all the way to the end which was a new beginning to their life. To top off the day the dodgers won against the giants by a score of 7-4. This was a new beginning and a brand new start to their new lives. They went back to their hotel because it was about 9:00PM in New york which was time to go to sleep. They arrived at the hotel and parked their car in the structure, then walked to the elevator listening to the horrible hotel music. They got out the elevator and walked down the smelly hallway all the way to the end where their room was located. The inserted the key into the slot where the door handle reads the card so it opens and you could hear the door handle open. All four of them walked into the room at the same time. The beds were all done and ready to get destroyed again that way they could fall asleep. The tv was on the hotel channel which was telling them about the information about the hotel. When they all were showered and ready to leave the hotel they went down stairs and exited out the front door because they had figured out that to find a school nearby to the hotel the kids would need to walk because New york is not a very car friendly place. They walked down the street looking at all the big amazing building that looked like a mile high from where they were standing. The streets were crowded with people in a rush trying to get to work and to school or anywhere they needed to go. They walked for about 1 mile through all the smelly old and young people and they found Bronx high school. This high school was one of the more popular schools where a lot of people who went professional went. Maria and the rest went into the high school where the classes were just started and where their were a lot of latin american kids who looked like they could fit in with juan and marco. They sat down in the office and waaited for the principal to finish his meeting with a family whose kid was into the bad things in life. Once their meeting had finished the 4 of them had gone into the office of the principal and sat on the chairs. The principal was a big guy about 6’1 with a beard and a pretty big beer belly with dark skin which he looked
New York City’s old slum neighbourhood, the Five Points, was notoriously known for its vice and crimes. The first organized crime group in New York City was the Forty Thieves which was led by Edward Coleman, started in 1825, in the back of a grocery store. The Dead Rabbits were an Irish gang in the Five Points area, and are most known for the riot they caused in 1857. The Eastman Gang were a Jewish group in the Five Points area, which began in the late nineteenth century, and were the rival of the Five Points Gang. The Five Points Gang was another group, started by Paul Kelly and included future famous mobsters. In Five Points, where most of New York City’s crime started, it also started some of history’s most notorious gangs, and mobsters.
Gentrification is a major reason for the increase in rent prices throughout New York City. Harlem rent prices have gone up over the past years because of new condominiums and businesses that are being built in neighborhoods. The displacement of residents leads to an increase of people becoming homeless in the city. According to the author, Ivan Pereira, “Harlem saw a 9.4 % average rent price increase during that same period from $2,191 last year to $ 2,397 in January” (Pereira 1). The change causes longtime residents to move out because of a variety of factors including unaffordability, pressure from property owners, diminishing or lack of stores that cater to them and many more. The more condominiums and business’s being built makes living
Away is a documentary about the surfing subculture in New York City that is shown through three female surfers at Rockaway Beach.
Donald Trump speaks among a crowd of hundreds: “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” This is how a portion of American citizens perceive immigrants, and as the 2016 Presidential election gets closer the word “immigration” gets treated more delicately as if it were a new phenomenon. However, immigration is no new or delicate subject for New York City. In fact, residents (like in Queens) find it odd if a New Yorker isn’t of hybrid generation (Eichenbaum, Tour). The history of New York City has been painted by the millions and millions of immigrants that have touched its land. It’s a cycle: one group of immigrants come, stay, and leave while another new group of immigrants settle down. This continuous sequence is what makes New York City such an innovative city when it comes to immigrants.

Every time I hear this song it makes me long to leave all of my responsibilities and head off to the city of dreams. A trip to New York has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I have always wanted to visit the place of tall buildings, history, and where culture is intertwined with its people. I have wanted to live the fast pace life of a New Yorker, where I could stand outside and see, smell, and taste all of the experiences that this city has to offer. I have been building and building this ideal image in my mind for so long. If I ever get to New York, will I be disappointed by the city that never sleeps? The city that is a part of almost every movie I watch. Can New York live up to the expectations I have
New York City is an amazing place, filled with many incredible sights. There are several unique things about the city that you can find nowhere else, such as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, both of which are iconic symbols throughout the world. That is what makes the city so memorable. New York City is one of my favorite places, and in this essay you fill find out why.
The environmental hazards by responding by responding to natural and man-made disasters have caused a significant incline in the city. Tracking data for different disease and environmental issues indicate a significant correlation amongst each other. Efforts need to be made towards reforming the current structure of the environment in order to preserve it and its citizen. Therefore, the government should be taking action against air pollutions by introducing green energy. The government should be investing in wind energy, and solar energy as well as renewable energy to minimize heavy air pollution. Furthermore, they should encourage manufacturing companies to control the pollutions and creating and energy efficient environment, not
When I first examined the photo of the construction workers in New York City, my impression was they were passing something heavy like in a bucket brigade line. I saw their shoulders were curved over and their hands were straining which all the visuals cues were in place telling me they were working.
The third problem you need to address is hygiene in New York City. New York city is the main hub of the country but the cleanliness of its streets is not up to the mark. On the garbage day, Broadway will smell badly as the garbage bags are arranged on the platforms. This is the genesis of many diseases. My friend had suffered a hygiene related disease and it resulted in reducing the mind and body coordination. If these kinds of diseases continue to spread, there would be thousands of diseases like this in the next few years. To avoid this, the city should be clean by clearing the garbage as soon as possible. Every street should be assigned a specific timeframe between ten to twenty minutes for the garbage truck to pick up the garbage bags.
It was a beautiful spring day in Brooklyn, New York, in 1944. Everyone in Brooklyn was excited about the new baseball season. The weather in New York can be quite erratic in April, fluctuating anywhere from 30 to 70 degrees, but the day was perfect, sunny and 65 degrees. On beautiful days like this, Carson and Michael liked to play catch in Michael’s side yard. ItMichael’s side yard was the perfect spot to play catch because it was a flat, open area filled with soft green grass. Michael Ware was an 11 year old black kid that loved baseball. Michael and his family had moved into this Brooklyn neighborhood five years ago which. The neighborhood had evolved over time from a primarily white community to a more integrated

Hermes smiled. The city of New York was marvelous. It was the place all travelers yearned for, so naturally it was his home. He sat down in his chair and sighed, “another day of buying stocks, filling out forms, and making calls. I hate mortals.” He went to work, grumbling about secretaries and Mondays, when his intercom buzzed, “Mr.Hermes, a man is here to see you. He claims to be a relative.”
