When I first examined the photo of the construction workers in New York City, my impression was they were passing something heavy like in a bucket brigade line. I saw their shoulders were curved over and their hands were straining which all the visuals cues were in place telling me they were working. In the video where Dr. Paul Lester points out, the photo was taken with a flash resulting in glared exposure. This was not my impression at all. But to me, it looks as if they are pressing their cheeks against the glass. Also, several of the workers look as if their hands are pressed flat against the window. I’ve had to dissect many old black and white photos from a Photography Storytelling class and write reports on them. Where Huxley wrote,
New York City is the largest city in the United States. New York City has five boroughs: Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island. New York City is located at the meeting point of the Hudson River and the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the shortage of land, New York City is one of the most densely populated cities in the United States. Climate in New York City is highly affected by the Atlantic Ocean. Winters are cold. Although Spring is usually mild, thunderstorms are very common. Summers are hot and the humidity is high in the months of July and August. While Autumn is mostly comfortable, the weather can change without notice.
New York City’s old slum neighbourhood, the Five Points, was notoriously known for its vice and crimes. The first organized crime group in New York City was the Forty Thieves which was led by Edward Coleman, started in 1825, in the back of a grocery store. The Dead Rabbits were an Irish gang in the Five Points area, and are most known for the riot they caused in 1857. The Eastman Gang were a Jewish group in the Five Points area, which began in the late nineteenth century, and were the rival of the Five Points Gang. The Five Points Gang was another group, started by Paul Kelly and included future famous mobsters. In Five Points, where most of New York City’s crime started, it also started some of history’s most notorious gangs, and mobsters.
My minor insight is New York City as the financial capital of the world. New York’s thriving economy is one of the main reasons that it is a global metropolis. Not only is NYC an economic capital, but it is also a cultural capital of both the United States, and the world. NYC is made up of millions of immigrants (about 36% of the total population) who have been able to assimilate into the American lifestyle, and act as a resource for the growth of our economy. NYC’s diversity has benefited our city by producing talented, hard-working citizens, which can provide an example for many other cities around the globe. New York’s cultural identity has helped shape our city, by allowing

suit. They got their car that was parked in the parking structure and went off to go explore the new city that they would hopefully call home for the rest of their lives. They found one of the best pizza places to eat in New York and sat down to eat because it was really packed and from the outside there was people standing outside. After they went to go check out where the mighty brooklyn dodgers played which was a day that they had a game against the giants, their rivals. They weren't gonna see the game but they pulled to the side right in front of the stadium while the game was going on. You could feel the energy of the crowed going off inside that way they could get their game. They got off the car and you could see inside the stadium
New York City, the city that never sleeps. One of my mom's favorite song has always been New York, New York by Frank Sinatra. Having spent most of her life in Brooklyn, New York, it's considered her second home. My brothers and sister grew up there while I was born in Colorado. I still however have lots of family there, grandparents, aunts, uncles and many many cousins, and I visit regularly. The words of Frank Sinatra still rings true, if you can make it here you can make it anywhere!
Every time I hear this song it makes me long to leave all of my responsibilities and head off to the city of dreams. A trip to New York has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I have always wanted to visit the place of tall buildings, history, and where culture is intertwined with its people. I have wanted to live the fast pace life of a New Yorker, where I could stand outside and see, smell, and taste all of the experiences that this city has to offer. I have been building and building this ideal image in my mind for so long. If I ever get to New York, will I be disappointed by the city that never sleeps? The city that is a part of almost every movie I watch. Can New York live up to the expectations I have
New York City is an amazing place, filled with many incredible sights. There are several unique things about the city that you can find nowhere else, such as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, both of which are iconic symbols throughout the world. That is what makes the city so memorable. New York City is one of my favorite places, and in this essay you fill find out why.
New York City is the place that I want to visit, revisit, and visit again. Out there on the streets, I feel free. When coming from Atlanta to New York City thirty thousand feet in the air, which is grimy but comfortable, it is an experience unlike I have ever felt before. Crossing over the Hudson River and coming into the packed full station is reminiscent of having some kind of travel machine bringing you from earth to space in a flash. When I visited, I felt I could do anything and everything in the cities' grips. Living in America is a fantastic privilege; living in New York City is something even better. As you stagger up those stairs to the city streets and you capture that first breath of city air, you declare to yourself, this is Freedom!
I have always been fascinated by city life such as New York City. I believe it to be the world’s most beautiful city I have ever seen. The crowd and lights filled in cities amazes me. Whenever I feel like I need to spend some alone time with myself I would go to New York City. Some people call it as “city of dreams” whereas some call it “city that never sleeps”. Both these quotes are very true. Most people come here to fulfill their dreams. New York City is also known as the “Capital of World” because it is a dream for people all around the world. When I first visited this place, it was hard to believe my eyes. I got a very motivated feeling, it felt like I was here for a purpose and that is when I started to dream how it would be like working in this place. Being one among these feels refreshing. New York City is filled with lot of skyscrapers such as World Trade Center, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building and many more. As I
The third problem you need to address is hygiene in New York City. New York city is the main hub of the country but the cleanliness of its streets is not up to the mark. On the garbage day, Broadway will smell badly as the garbage bags are arranged on the platforms. This is the genesis of many diseases. My friend had suffered a hygiene related disease and it resulted in reducing the mind and body coordination. If these kinds of diseases continue to spread, there would be thousands of diseases like this in the next few years. To avoid this, the city should be clean by clearing the garbage as soon as possible. Every street should be assigned a specific timeframe between ten to twenty minutes for the garbage truck to pick up the garbage bags.
The Statue of Liberty, the most enduring symbol of New York City - and indeed, the USA - can trace its unlikely origins to a pair of Parisian Republicans. In 1865, political activist Edouard René Lefebvre de Laboulaye and sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi went to a dinner party and came away with the notion of building a monument honoring the American conception of political freedom, which they would then donate to the Land of Opportunity. Twenty-one years later, on 28 October 1886, the 151ft (45m) Liberty Enlightening the World, modeled on the Colossus of Rhodes, was finally unveiled in New York Harbor before President Grover Cleveland and a harbor full of tooting ships. It's a 354-step climb
“Next stop will be New York Penn station, I repeat New York Penn station.” The loud voice of the conductor echoed. I have just woken up from my long nap from New Jersey, and opened my eyes with the vision of people rising up from their seats in unison as if it was a rehearsed dance piece. It took me a moment to realize that I am about to step into the streets of New York City, the Big Apple. This has been a dream of mine since I was a child and a streak of excitement shook me as I rose from my seat. The train comes to a screeching break, bringing all of us to a harsh stop, and the hissing doors open welcoming us to Penn station New York City!
New York City and its suburbs are world-renowned for many things. However, when it comes to bicycle integration with public transportation, New York City lies in the shadow of other cities such as Portland and San Francisco. In these cities, all public buses have bike racks, trains have bicycle storage, cyclists have access to secure parking at metro stations, and safe bikeways provide cyclists with a route to metro stations. All four of these characteristics are needed to foster a bicycle-friendly transit system. However, while New York City excels in certain areas of this criteria, it lacks bike racks on buses and secure bike parking at subway stations. These problems also persist in New York City’s suburbs; however, the suburbs fall even farther behind the city due to their lack of safe bikeways.
New York is the most complex city in the world. On a simple day with crowded people, suddenly I stun because of the restful surrounding in the park of New York, a beautiful lady, and the smell of her coffee. At this moment, I am sitting on a bench surrounded by a carnation garden. I smell the scent of carnations as though I were standing among the mountains and flower gardens. I see many dark red carnations and colorful butterflies in the garden, along with the vanilla sky which makes everything around here more romantic. I take my eyes to a lady drinking a cup of coffee. The sunlight gradually shines on her face. which makes me notice a woman. She has long straight dark hair which gracefully falls down to her shoulders. She has a heart-shaped
