SEOUL KIMCHI
I have been interested in Korean culture since high school. Therefore, I chose to observe a Korean restaurant in Manchester. I visited Seoul Kimchi in Upper Brook Street twice on Thursday, 5pm to 6pm and Saturday 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
Seoul Kimchi is located in a strategic location. Vehicles heading to the city from Wilmslow Road pass Upper Brook Street, so it is a busy road. The restaurant is white in colour so it is easily differentiated among other restaurants in the block like Subway and Zaytoon. It is a small shop accommodating 20 people at one time. During both period I visited, almost all seats are occupied. The restaurant workforce consists of four chefs (three male and one female), a dishwasher, waiter, and waitress. All chefs wore white as in most restaurants and attendants wore black. It reminds me of Harley Davidson riders who wear black as they do not show any dirt. Perhaps the same belief applies here as restaurant attendants should look clean all the time.
The menu was bilingual (English and Korean) to cater all nationality but customers often ask further details such as the ingredients of the food. Customers especially non-Korean must feel insecure eating food outside their culture so they ask for assurance. The situation implies that customers seriously care about what they consume especially food. When ordering, I noticed customers would point on the menu for a smoother communication with the waiter. Have you ever tried listening to everything going on at the same time at a fast food restaurant during the lunch time rush hour? Well, I did and I am going to share the results of my whirlwind encounter last week. Within my observation, I will go over the layout of the establishment in which my observation was conducted, as well as who came to the establishment, the conversations and the interactions that took place. When it comes to dining-in at a restaurant we all want the best service that we can get. When I think of “the best service” I think about the cleanliness, nice waitresses, good food, and affordable prices. There are so many different options when a family thinks about going out to eat, especially if they have small children. It’s often hard to go to a nice dine-in restaurant because sometimes it’s hard to find something on the menu for everyone in the family. I have experienced many things at two completely different restaurants. I can say Demos’ is better than Logan’s because the food and service is much better.
The article describes an African American restaurant whose owner has enjoyed a period of success from the time of its inception. An analysis of photographs in the restaurant shows the owner with a waitress costume with tables full of young African Americans. The environment presented by the pictures shows unity that existed among African Americans. The blacks centered their unity on their heritage as Africans, slaves, sharecroppers, and industrial workers. Equally, they struggled to earn respect and recognition within the community. When I went to 99 ranch market at Seattle with my family to do grocery shopping. It is an Asian grocery store, there is all Asian people who does their grocery shopping. I was observing most of the Asian people with different ages. As we know the Asian knows as soft spoke people. The whole store was full of Asian people, I was observing they don’t talk that much, they just mind their own business and they are not that social to each other. At this case them with different age, but still not that social to each other.
In New Mexico it is very easy to find a restaurant that serves “Latino” themed food. Often, these restaurants put their own spin into the food and it becomes New Mexican. However, if you look hard enough, you may find authentic food from other Latino countries. There are MANY restaurants in Albuquerque and they all serve delicious and unique meals. For this assignment I wanted to try something new and indulge in unique tastes that I will remember for years. I meticulously researched restaurants on Google and found one that caught my attention. Its name is Havana Restaurant. It is in Daskalos Shopping Center off Menaul and San Mateo and its hours of operation are 11 A.M. to 8 P.M (Google Search: Havana Restaurant Albuquerque).
This experiment observed students and their activities in a food court. During the observations there were many groups of students not eating lunch just sitting around and talking. Several students were studying or engaging in other activities on their laptops mainly Youtube (the video sharing platform). One group stayed there for the duration of the observations discussing back and forth about their day. Many students would enter the food court, pick up food, and then proceed to sit down. Upon sitting down am majority of the students would pull out some form of entertainment such as a book, their ot cell phone, and engage with it. This engagement, a statistically significant number of times, would detract from the main purpose of the area
El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant offers up some excellent, quality foods in a relaxed and casual environment. The interior is decorated with vivid paintings and posters that are very uplifting. Big Sky Restaurant is touted by locals as the best in the Stoughton area for charm, delicious food, impressive service and reasonable prices. Not only does the food taste great, the expert presentations are a feast for the eyes as well. Try the crab cakes, for example. There are some images associated with Korean food, but the most well- known Korean food is absolutely Kim-chi. Kim-chi is a traditional fermented Korean food. According to the Health Magazine, Kim-chi is one of the top 5 healthiest foods in the world. It has full of Vitamins A, B and C. But since it is a fermented food, its biggest benefit is their healthy bacteria which are called lactobacilli.(health.com) So, Kim-chi by itself is just a pack of lots of good stuff and we can see our ancestor’s wisdom of keeping their body healthy from food. I decided to conduct my field observation in the great state of Louisiana. I had a business trip to the party capital of the world, New Orleans. The bar scene was the perfect setting to observe a diverse group of people for a long period of time without bringing attention or suspicion to myself.

Once I stepped inside the restaurant I automatically could hear the music playing at a moderate level and the laughter of the customers. Right off the back the restaurant's ambiance had a positive vibe. Mindful, it was a Saturday late afternoon. Mary Jane Burger and Brew is a local restaurant trying to stay true to its past. The granddaughter of the original owner now runs the place with the intention of serving good quality food where the ingredients are fresh, mouth watering, and surely not filled with antibiotics and all that other genetically modified elements found in processed foods. The vintage, rustic looking place, holds a small town atmosphere with a big taste.
Angela and Zooey desire to make a profitable French restaurant. “The Possibility” has endless of possibilities to prosper if it can resolve the problems which the decision makers are facing. Their first challenge was not knowing how the customer would take to French cuisine. This caused problems such as what to put on the menu since excessive waste was not an option. This problem had a quick alternative for the time being as to only offering a fish or beef dinner. Though they have narrowed down their menu to a fish dinner and a beef dinner it is necessary to factor in all the constraints on how many of each type of dinner to sell to reach a maximum profit.
