Appex Corporation
When Ghosh joined Appex, he walked into a company full of chaos with no definable structure. The rapidly growing company was ill-equipped to manage its growth at the rate it was expanding. There were no formal policies or structures in place to manage this exponential growth. As the number of products increased the lack of structure became more pronounced. The work became mostly crisis management, leading to a decline in customer focus and production. Additionally, finances were not managed with any planning or structure causing Appex to lose money rapidly. Ghosh, eager to test his skills, attempted several organizational structures to stabilize Appex.
Circular Structure
Circular structure is a nonhierarchical organization structure with the senior executives in the center. The circle centers on the executives, followed by the managers, then employees, and then the customers. Ghosh used this system as an attempt to create a continuous flow of information through the organization. One problem identified was that current employees could not relate and new hires did not understand. New hires looked for a hierarchical structure to understand the flow of power for decisions and their performance evaluation but were unable to identify such within this organizational structure. Additionally, this structure did not formalize any type of business planning.
Horizontal structure The horizontal structure is the traditional vertical organizational structure
A private sector is usually composed of organisations which are privately owned and not part of a government; whereas a public sector is composed of organisations that are owned by the government and voluntary sectors are composed of individuals of who seek help in charitable activities. Private sectors include corporations such as partnerships and charities, like the voluntary sectors, and the public sectors include corporations such as federal, provincial, state or municipal governments. An example of a private sector is a retail store or credit unions, and example of a public sector is an educational or
Every organisation has a different organisational structure. The private sector is funded by private investors, these invest capital into a business in hope of returning a greater capital in the future, they are generally profit drive. A public sector is an organisation generally funded by the public and state. The organisations are required to offer a service which will benefit the whole of society for example the NHS. A voluntary sector is an organisation based on non-profit, and are not funded by the state. They are used to fill gaps within the market which private and public sectors cannot do. The company I work for would fall under the private sector, our company has directors and business partners who put money into the company or use our services to benefit their own companies.
The structure and design of organizations have drastically changed over the last twenty-five years. Organizations develop new goals at the beginning of the year or after the completion of previous goals, and heavily depend on planning to help achieve these goals. Planning is an integral part of organizational success, as upper management receives substantial information on various needs such as risk uncertainty, available resources, employee development, and unforeseen changes in technology (Daft, 2013). Most importantly, successful planning allows management to make effective decisions when unforeseen events arise within the organization. Not participating in planning is equivalent to taking a road trip across the country without a
The company is geographically located in most major united states locations. It employs a hierarchal organizational design. One of the contributing factors to its success is the company’s success in providing a dining experience for its customers that excel in choices, price, customer service, and serving size. The company is known world-wide for its delicious cheesecakes with the key factor being the variety.
Here is a first hand account of culture, structure and systems not being in harmony. In 1994, Ticketmaster (TM) United States became a major presence in the ticketing industry. As part of their growth strategy, they expanded through the re-acquisition of all licensees. One of the licensees was the Canadian Ticketmaster business. From 1995 to 1997, TM Canada was forced to transform organizationally to become similar to our American parent. The cultural breakdown occurred when transitioning from networked “(high on sociability; low on solidarity)” to mercenary “(low on sociability; high on solidarity)” (Langton & Robbins, 2007, p. #341-342). For example, the lack of accountability
Harley decided that if they wanted to provide people with greater responsibility and authority they had to reduce the hierarchy. The philosophy behind the circle organization was to get the right people together at the right time to do the work right. They wanted teamwork without the teams and the idea of natural work groups emerged. This “circle organization” is based around the core processes at Harley to create demand, produce products, and provide support which are depicted by three interlocking circles. This is a more accurate representation of the shared leadership and cross-functionality at work in Harley-Davidson.
LLCs are relatively new in the world of corporate law. Other jurisdictions allow veil piercing of an LLC only in exceptional circumstances or if the state’s statute has express language permitting an LLC’s veil to be pierced. Angelo Tomasso, Inc. v. Armor Constr. & Paving, Inc., 447 A.2d 406, 412 (Conn. 1982). In general, Delaware courts recognize that although veil piercing of a corporation is appropriate under some circumstances, it may only “be effected … in the interest of justice.” Pauley Petroleum, Inc. v. Cont’l Oil Co., 239 A.2d 629, 633 (Del. 1968). A literal reading of the LLC Act appears to fully insulate members against personal liability. The case law on this issue is developing and it may take time before we see a fact pattern identifying C1’s precise issue with veil piercing. However, if C1 faces a civil lawsuit, Delaware has the most protective jurisdiction for corporations and LLCs formed under its
For example, within the human resources department, all HR will share information and support the training and development of each employee.
In order for an informed decision to be made in regards to appropriate business structure for any business it is necessary to understand each business structure separately and any attempt to understand business structure must consider the C-corporation as a baseline against which to compare subsequent business structures. A C-corporation is a business organized as a separate entity from the owner or owners of the business that requires the observation of certain formalities. In Texas these formalities include adopting bylaws, maintaining a record of accounts, issuance of stock, recording the issuance and transference of stock, recording minutes of board of director and shareholder meetings, as well as maintaining a record of current and past shareholders (Tex. BOC § 21). It is important to remember that corporate formalities will require time and expense to maintain and every attempt should be made to comply with these requirements to protect the liability limitation of the corporation’s shareholders, officers, and owners.
Manager’s of an organization has to use structure to help the company run efficiently. “The five types of organizational structures are functional, divisional, matrix, team-based, and virtual network” (Draft, 2013, p.316). Functional structure in an organization that is developed by grouping departments by the skills, level of knowledge, activities done daily, and the resource used. “This structure places specific departments from the bottom to the top” (Draft, 2013, p.318). For example, specific departments such as: human resources, accounting, engineering, and manufacturing are placed at the top, while there are mostly seen at the bottom in other organizations. While common functions such as; people, facilities, and other resources are combined together as a single department instead of being divided into multiple departments.
Devotion Music Group places less emphases on the short-term return of hit singles, and targets more energy in building careers that generate revenue over time. Recording artists are sought who process strong performance factors; along with unique musical characteristics that drives their vision. The label endorses an artist’s creativity and furnishes the support necessary to create nationwide headlines. Audiences are captured by creating recordings that grab attention. Compared to Major Labels, who target hits, Devotion supplies the atmosphere, coaching and funding; allowing artists to create great records and develop lifelong careers.
3 different group of audiences that I created for this visualizations are (a) the Executives, the board of directors; (b) the senior managers or immediate managers; and (c) recruiters or interns.

Hsieh explained this structure is “about moving faster, being more responsive and adaptable, and enabling employees’ talents and passions to shine”. Each circle can gather around and adjust the roles and tasks ahead without having to run it through a hierarchical system.
The structure of an organisation is built in order to achieve the distinct tasks by the labour and coordination between teams to provide goods and services. Organisational structure is selected in order to have a basic work and consistency according to the situation. The most foremost factors in an organisation are skilled labours, mutual understanding among the fellows and direct control to frame a good result. A good structured organisation results in quality production, which can be taken into peoples consider through marketing. When an organisation tracks in a solid structure, management plans and tasks can be easily constructed and executed. In this essay, I have been explained about the concept of Mintzberg five
