Parody In The Outsiders

The Government is the butt of many jokes. Every week there is a new parody of what is going on. It has gotten to the point where even books have insight on the government. In the Outsiders by S.E Hinton there are two different classes of people feuding and the subject of self-defense. These two classes can be represented as the Democrats vs Republican. In the book the Socs are the republicans and the greasers are the democrats. The Democrats were the first established party out of the two, starting in1824 (Democrat vs Republican). Their symbol is the donkey with a background of blue. The Great Andrew Jackson started party with the philosophy Progressivism and Modern Liberalism (Comapre Democratic Part vs Republican Party). Progressivism being on the lookout and on a continuous path towards progress. Whether it be technology or human attitudes. Then Modern Liberalism is focused on equality through all social classes. Little Pony Boy Curtis a greaser and his gang verse the Soc. In the story greasers are mistreated and pounded for not holding the same stature as the Soc. The Socs are the rich kids that can do things and not get touched. They have the “I do what I want and you can’t do anything about it” type money. Pony Boy lives with his two bother Darry and Soda Pop. He has friends named Dallas “Dally” Winston, Two-Bit, and Johnny. The story kicks off with Pony leaving theater trying to find something to do for that day. That night he, Dally, and Johnny snuck into the drive-in. There they met two girls Cherri and Marca. Dally went over to harass them, trying to get some play. Cherri was not falling for his game and told him to “Get lost, hood” (Hinton). This caused Johnny and Pony Boy to get him stop. Dally went off to get sodas to let the girls “cool off”
