Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background
Diseases have become common in today’s world. It has been observed that when medical science finds some medicine or vaccination for a particular disease, many other diseases arise. Certain microorganisms become resistant to drugs and some viruses change their structure to protect themselves from the effect of the medicine. Peptic ulcer also has become more common than the past. People blame the change in lifestyle and food habits for this disease. But medical science has proved that food habits and lifestyle changes are not always the villain.
Ulcer is most common type of diseases globally. The word ‘ulcer’ is coming from the Latin words ‘ulcus, ulceris’ means ‘sore spot , sore, painful

According to their belief disease can be cured only by the prayer. In the case of peptic ulcer or any other diseases, if one does not get enough treatment the person who has diseases become in dangerous stage (Vianello, 1995). It is an ethical issue which causes the life threatening situation. Lack of proper medication is the severe case related to the diseases. In addition, some category of people takes fasting which leads to acidity and problems in stomach. If this situation regularly happens in the life this may causes peptic ulcer.
2.2.1 Issues related to profession
There are many professions in which people cannot take food on time. Even though the person is well aware of the importance of taking food on time in the case peptic ulcer, they cannot do it as their profession forces them to do so (Philip, Hazel, 2010). In such cases, the patient cannot cure the disease completely or cannot stop the medicine that he or she is taking as a part of the treatment. For example, a doctor who is very busy may not be able to take food on time when he or she knows that the patients are waiting for him or her. Drivers may not be able to maintain a proper food pattern as they may be driving during the time of food and this may aggravate the disease.
Stress and tension can be another issue, which cannot be controlled by a person (Vaidya, 2001). Even though
Due to the burden and impact of pressure ulcer development on both the individual and the health service, it is accepted practice that risk assessment should be undertaken on
To start the search for evidence within University Hospital, questions were asked in regards to pressure ulcers. Monthly updates are often sent out via email from the wound care team to keep everyone up to date on knowledge. While there was informative numbers within those updates, this information falls short according to Moore, Webster, & Samuriwo (2015). The main limitation of the study is the lack of a control group in pressure ulcer prevention and treatment. There is no clarity in the specific criterion that contributed to improved clinical outcomes. Teams used more than one method in the research project. Also, there is no study that meant the inclusion criteria in the random clinical trials. The lack of standardized

The surveys were conducted between 1989 and 2005 predominantly in the US and showed an increase of 4.4% in number of nosocomial pressure ulcer prevalence rated with increase 6.3% in overall pressure ulcer prevalence rates. Nosocomial pressure ulcer prevalence rates were highest in long-term acute care facilities with anatomical location of greatest number of pressure ulcers being sacrum, hells and buttocks. The surveys also revealed that majority of Stage IV pressure ulcers were related to patients with dark skin: N=447,930 (total number of patients in survey), n1=1024 (dark skinned patients), n2 = 164 (dark skinned patients with Stage IV pressure ulcers). The incidence rates of pressure ulcers averaged at 5.4% which correlated with contributing factors of Braden Scores less than 18, serum albumin levels less than 3, fecal/urine incontinence, fragile skin and
Williams, 1992 states that pressure ulcer occurs where there is poor level of nursing care for a long term basis but it is also found with hospitals that offer severe care. We know that a sore healing needs conditions of dietary aspects and it can be reversed. There have been several studies made
H. pylori thrives in the acidic environment of the stomach and the finding that this bacteria contributed to the condition was remarkable news and led to the standard practice of treating peptic ulcers with antibiotics. As a result, the rate of H. pylori-induced ulcers has dropped by more than 50 percent. (Ackerman, 2012)
Pressure ulcers refer to damage that occurs to the skin of a patient. Pressure, shear and friction are among the known causes (Shahin, Dassen & Halfens, 2009). Pressure ulcers mostly affect the lower part of the body, the elderly and patients with spinal injuries (Shahin et al, 2009). They are expensive to treat, require long periods of time and numerous treatments to heal. As a
The improvement of medicine over the course of the human successes gave great convenience to the people of today. Science has cured and prevented many illnesses from occurring and is on its way to cure some of the most dreadful and harmful illnesses. As the world modernizes due to the industrialization, so does the ways of medicine. Some cures are approached by chance, some, through intense, scientific measures.
The purpose of this paper is to acknowledge pressure ulcers, including what a pressure ulcer is and what it should look like in each stage of progression. Furthermore, it should educate the reader on how a pressure ulcer is formed. After reading this paper you should see the importance of preventing pressure ulcers altogether. Through review of various peer reviewed articles, as well as credible internet sources, information will be gathered to show statistics of pressure ulcers in the elderly as well as the contributing factors of this problem. There are solid ways to prevent elderly patients from getting pressure ulcers.
Ulcerative colitis is a disease that causes inflammation and sores, called ulcers, in the lining of the rectum and colon, also known as the large bowel. The inflammation may be taking place in the whole colon consisting of the pancolitis and ulcerative proctisis or perhaps somewhere in between the two. Ulcers form were inflammation has killed the cells that usually line the colon, then

INTRODUCTION: Even though stress negatively affects physical and mental abilities. Stress is the cause of tensions, overwork and increasing demands. Generally, the Anxiety is a part of our life. We live with it, manage it, or more all stress over it. Our lifestyle, the region in which we live, the economy, and our occupations can result in a lot of anxiety. Not everybody manages the same level of anxiety and there are a few elements that can affect our lives and reason us to have higher or lower anxiety levels. (Feldman, 2009)
It is important to note that most of the stress that most of us have is actually self generated. This is a paradox because so many people think of external stresses when they are upset (it is the weather, the boss, the spouse, and the stock market). Recognizing that we create most of our own upsets, however, is an important first step to dealing with them. (Posen)
Psychological stress is a result of many factors and should be dealt with very carefully. Stress can be defined as “An excess of demand made upon the adaptive capabilities of the mind and body”.(Joseph 1). Another way of putting it, is that there are some things that put certain demands on us. The effects of stress should not be limited to unpleasant emotional states. Many studies have concluded that the effects on our physical health from stress can be extremely detrimental. These adverse physical effects include heart disease and formations of cancer. There are also some societal issues that psychological stress can hamper.
“Stress is a silent disease” (Doctor Hobel). Over the years, stress has played a major rule in a large majority of people’s lives throughout the United States. When thought about, it is said to be extremely surprising as to how many people really have stress in each individual’s life. People do not consider what the reasons are for the feelings and emotions they experience. There are all different types of stress, and stress can do a lot to a person. Each person also handles stress in a different way. Some can handle more than others, because every single person’s body works in a different way. Stress has also been told to cause people to act out of character (Dr. David Posen). They often do not act the way they usually would while under
