The overconfident Americans were celebrating New Year’s Day with a parade. They scrambled frantically for their weapons as cannonballs hissed around them. At first the British guns had the upper

Percy Jackson - Percy Jackson is the twelve-year-old protagonist of The Lightning Thief. He is the narrator and the hero of The Lightning Thief. At the beginning of the story, Percy's life perspective is pretty negative. Percy is a 12-year-old boy who has been expelled from every school he has attended in the past 6 years. Percy is dyslexic and has ADHD. A scene that best shows this is when he says, “I could start at any point in my short and miserable life to prove it.” When he begins telling his story, he's a bit grumpy, angry, or even depressed. Percy comes from a very humble background, meaning he is grateful for the simple joys in life. Percy never knew his dad. His mother eventually married a guy named Gabe Ugliano, Percy calls him Smelly Gabe. They live in a small apartment in Queens, NY, and Gabe enjoys making Percy's life and Percy's mom's life miserable.
Percy and his class are on a field trip. He has a friend called Grover ( who turns out to be a satyr sent to look after him and a teacher he feels he can trust and who believes in him( who turns out to be the centaur, Chiron)

What a society considers fighting, and dying, for says a lot about that society. Homer’s The Iliad, and Thucydides’ The History of the Peloponnesian War are both centered on some of the largest wars that their authors knew about. In the case of The Iliad, this war started when Paris offended the honor of the Spartan king, Menelaus, by taking Helen, the king’s wife. This is just an example of the culture of the times because, right from the start, the Greeks of Homer fight for their honor. Thucydides lived during the Peloponnesian War, hundreds of years after Homer. During those hundreds of years, war itself had fundamentally changed. In The History of the Peloponnesian War, honor was still important, but the war’s main purpose was much more tangible. The main cause of the Peloponnesian War was Athens’ desire for more land, more tribute states, and, most importantly, more power. Both of the works deal largely with why the people in them think the wars are worth fighting. In the case of The Iliad, the battles, both for the states and the people fighting, are fought for honor, while in The History of the Peloponnesian War, Athens fights for the power of her empire.
Percy was trying to find Grover but Grover found Percy and his friends Annabeth and Thalia. Grover told Percy and others that he found the demigods but there was a monster that was trying to take the demigods away and have them join the other side. Grover had to acted like a student in school but his friend’s smell gave the monster a heads up and he knows what to do. So Grover and Percy and the others were trying to find the demigods they are students and they did not know what is a demigod and if they are half bloods. Percy and Grover finally spot them and people got in front of the kids and they were gone.
The climbing action is Percy finding out that he isn’t a normal boy, but a demigod and the fact that his mom got kidnapped. The reason it’s the climbing action is that it sets up the entire novel if he wasn’t a demigod none of this would have happened to him. The climax is Percy realizing that he had the bolt almost the whole time. The falling action is him trying to get it back instead of looking for it. The resolution is giving the bolt back to Zeus and getting his mom
that Greek gods exist, and have been closely observing western culture and ideas. The author draws parallels to Percy’s life, who is an American teenager, with that of Greek heroes. This parallel helps the readers to relate to the book, essentially engaging the young readers to learn about Greek mythology and the lessons of life that it teaches, in a not so bland way. The protagonist of the novel, Percy Jackson, is revealed to be special in some way. This section also develops other supporting characters, such as Chiron, Percy’s teacher, who also was mentor to Hercules and Grover, who is Percy’s sidekick, a multi-dimensional character with his own past, hopes and concerns. The association of Chiron and Percy foretells that Percy will carry on heroic deeds in future. Percy fights Minotaur, a monster that even Theseus fought and defeated. In the process of defeating Minotaur, Percy loses his mother, which he feels was his last hope to returning to his normal human life. By drawing parallels between Percy and various heroes of Greek Mythology, the author shows Percy in the light of a hero. A hero who is yet to prove his worth in the Camp Half-Blood. His encounter with Clarisse at a bathroom in camp, allows him to show his strength, which was very similar to that of his father Poseidon, but also instils in some ways fear amongst the camp
In the film, however, the majority of Percy’s journey is to locate and enter the Underworld in order to rescue his mother from Hades. Once again, the changes contribute to the plot of the story and remain entertaining for audiences.
Later on in the chapters, Percy discovers that the modern world he lives in is not what he thinks. He finds that ancient Greek theology is very much real. He gets shipped to a camp in the middle of nowhere as a safe haven from dangers of ancient Greek mythology. This camp (Camp Half Blood) is a haven for young demi-gods to find their
