Succeeding in medical school will require a tremendous amount of perseverance and passion. No one gets into medical school without demonstrating perseverance and overcoming the challenges that occur throughout the journey. I have persevered through being denied admission during a previous application cycle and throughout difficult coursework while pursuing a master’s degree. Not only did I overcome the challenges that I faced, but excelled academically, at my job, and in extracurricular activities. By continuing to pursue my dream I was exposed to numerous experiences and underwent significant personal development. I understand that medical school will present very difficult material and more frequent challenges, but my goal is to be a physician

The last part of the statement is perhaps the most important because it is true that many college students do not have the desire to learn, instead many attend college because of the social aspect, or simply because of the pressure to attend by the parents. The desire to learn is what determines how much effort one puts into his schoolwork. If the student does not want to learn that will reflect on his schoolwork and it will make it hard for him to succeed.

I used perseverance to help motivate me and push me to persevere through the wild jungle known as ‘high school’. To start, I never really was fond of sitting my anxious, disobedient butt down at a desk for eight hours but developing perseverance helped me find friends I could suffer with. To elaborate, as fresh meat in a new high school packed full of hungry ferocious seniors, finding friends became more of a mission then a simple task. To demonstrate, I walked through the abnormally wide hallways of South High School with my head down and my hood up, looking for a weak link like myself to befriend. Consequently, by the middle of freshman year, the only friend I managed to find was the tall and slender lunch lady everyone called ‘Ms. Mole’

But as a student homework, yes homework, with having a family, full-time job, working out, and homework it can get overwhelming at times. You have to find it in yourself the willpower to keep going not giving up on yourself or the people looking that may be looking up to you. Being resilient is a key part about college, you will not always be the best or pass every test but being able to bounce back and show what you really made of is

College is all about learning and not cutting corners, which only will hurt in the end. Everyday of missed class information will be lost, therefore the lack of understanding will show on a test or pop quiz. Attendance is a key to success. If I don’t go
