Personal Narrative: Fullmetal Alchemist

A personal legend is a journey that everyone must undergo at some point in their lives to fulfill their life purpose. My name is Mohamed Jallow; I just recently turned 16 years old, and I moved to New Jersey 2 years ago. At this present time, I am very interested in studying Industrial engineer as a major after high school, this discipline will shape me into a leader, and offers a great salary to sustain the quality of life, that I want for me and my family. Reading The Alchemist, alchemist explains to the Shepherd that “…when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too” (pg. 150). I always strive to be the best in anything that i do, and when i taste the fruits of my labor, i would make sure that my family, and everyone that supported me enjoy it as well.

On 10/02/2017 at 0017 hours, units were dispatched to 627 Central Ave for a report of a Domestic involving a knife. I responded at emergency speed, priority one. Upon my arrival, I located the accused female in the bathroom.

I arrived at practice with my shoes laced, hair pulled back, and the mindset that I was unstoppable. I could play against every member of my team and come out the victor on any given day. It was the first day of practice that week, and challenge matches were scheduled to begin. The team went through our daily shuffle of drills, conditioning, and running to prepare for what was lying ahead. While warming up with my friends, I felt great, talking about homecoming, boys, and a variety of irrelevant events. I felt ready. The odds were in my favor and nobody could stop me.

In Oklahoma, where there are bloody rumbles and serious crimes made here in this big city, but there is a tiny sixteen year old boy living in the middle of it all, and that was me, Johnny. He went to Lebanon to live for a few years before settling in the United States. My mom took care of me and my siblings. War was going on in Iraq; people walked with a dying heart. Iraq was split into Shiite, Sunni, and Christianity. Sunni and Shiite do not have any issues with one another, but there are people who do not like the Shiites and caused civil strife between the two divisions of Islam. “The Alchemist,” written by Paulo Coelho is an inspiring and magnificent novel that narrates the story of a young shepherd named Santiago. The protagonist experiences a dream that advises him to go to the Egyptian pyramids in order to find a hidden treasure. Throughout his journey, he encounters significant people that helps him to find his treasure, such as the king Melchizedek, the crystal’s merchant, the alchemist, and Fatima. In order attain it, he needs to find himself and learn through the experiences life offers him. As every protagonist in their respective story, Santiago has to transcend through The Hero’s Journey that depicts the events that every hero has to succeed.

Dan and I were sitting on our sofa watching Fullmetal Alchemist. I wasn’t really paying attention, as Dan’s wrist was facing upward and uncovered by the bracelet he usually wears. The name on it was so boring sounding, “Brad Smith.” He’s probably an office worker, with a boring life. Probably lives in an apartment building like ours, but his flat is twice the size of ours.

On Saturday, August 01, 2015, approximately 239 hours, I was dispatch to Conyers Police Department, 1147 Scott St. Upon my arrival, I met with the complainant Jeanette Higgins. I really enjoyed how the author uses Romanian mythology to create this complex world in the series. The book moved at a fast pace and kept me interested until the very end. The only part of the book that I wished the author made would be to add more action because a lot people who read this book think it’s just about vampires in high school, but the second book features so much action.

It was a normal chilly sunday on September 13th, 2015. My dad was in the garage with some of his friends watching the football game. It was the Dallas Cowboys vs. the New York Giants. My dad and his friends were making hot dogs and burgers on the grill but I don’t like those so I asked my dad if I could go to the store and get the ingredients to make taco dip. He handed me $20 and I headed off to the store with one of my dad’s friend’s son. The store was at the end of my street so it wasn’t a far walk.

It was 2:00 AM and I was working 3rd shift that night, it was lonely and dark. I was the only one here. As I sat in silence the phone rang I picked it up not expecting anyone to be calling because I haven’t had a call in years. When I picked up the phone all I hear is a deep soft whispering, I couldn’t make out what they were saying. Every second the whispering got louder and louder until there was a high pitch screaming. I slammed the phone down on the receiver with a rush of adrenaline. I finish the series that next summer, and loved the series in it’s entirety. I will always remember the soft pages of the paperback book, the printed words on the page,the sweet smell of the book, the loud flapping of the pages as I turned them, and the salty taste of the tears that slipped down my

Personal Response: This book series was very exciting and always kept my on the edge of my seat. Every time I read the book I did not want to put it down. The characters and plot always felt like I was in the story and I had emotions that I never had before reading other books.

I really enjoyed all of the characters. They were all very well developed and it was easy to get lost in there drama.
